अग्नये ऽनीकवते प्रथमजान् आ लभते मरुद्भ्यः सांतपनेभ्यः सवात्यान् मरुद्भ्यो गृहमेधिभ्यो बष्किहान् मरुद्भ्यः क्रीडिभ्यः सꣳसृष्टान् मरुद्भ्यः स्वतवद्भ्योऽनुसृष्टान्
For Agni with many faces, he obtains the firstborn from the Maruts; for the Maruts who bring heat, the Savāti; for the Maruts of the householder, the Baṣkihā; for the Maruts who play, the mingled ones; for the Maruts who possess their own, the following ones.
उक्ताः संचरा ऽ एता ऽ ऐन्द्राग्नाः प्राशृङ्गा माहेन्द्रा बहुरूपा वैश्वकर्मणाः
These have been declared as the moving ones: the Indra-Agni pair, the horned ones, the Mahendra, the many-formed of Viśvakarman.
धूम्रा बभ्रुनीकाशाः पितॄणाꣳ सोमवतां बभ्रवो बभ्रुनीकाशाः पितॄणां बर्हिषदां कृष्णा बभ्रुनीकाशाः पितॄणाम् अग्निष्वात्तानां कृष्णाः पृषन्तस् त्रैयम्बकाः
The smoky, tawny-colored are of the Fathers who have Soma; the tawny, tawny-colored are of the Fathers who sit on the barhis; the black, tawny-colored are of the Fathers who have been consumed by fire; the black, speckled are of the Triambakas.
उक्ताः संचरा ऽ एता शुनासीरीयाः श्वेता वायव्याः श्वेताः सौर्याः
These have been declared as the moving ones: those of Śunāsīra, the white of Vāyu, the white of Sūrya.
वसन्ताय कपिञ्जलान् आ लभते ग्रीष्माय कलविङ्कान् वर्षाभ्यस् तित्तिरीञ्छरदे वर्तिका हेमन्ताय ककराञ्छिशिराय विककरान्
For spring he obtains francolins, for summer lapwings, for the rains partridges, for autumn quails, for winter crows, for the cool season jackdaws.
समुद्राय शिशुमारान् आलभते पर्जन्याय मण्डूकान् अद्भ्यो मत्स्यान् मित्राय कुलीपयान् वरुणाय नाक्रान्
For the ocean he obtains porpoises, for Parjanya frogs, for the waters fish, for Mitra the kulīpaya birds, for Varuṇa crocodiles.
सोमाय हꣳसान् आ लभते वायवे बलाका ऽ इन्द्राग्निभ्यां क्रुञ्चान् मित्राय मद्गून् वरुणाय चक्रवाकान्
For Soma he obtains swans, for Vāyu cranes, for Indra and Agni curlews, for Mitra grebes, for Varuṇa ruddy shelducks.
अग्नये कुटरून् आ लभते वनस्पतिभ्य ऽ उलूकान् अग्नीषोमाभ्यां चाषान् अश्विभ्यां मयूरान् मित्रावरुणाभ्यां कपोतान्
For Agni he obtains woodpeckers, for the forest trees owls, for Agni and Soma jays, for the Aśvins peacocks, for Mitra and Varuṇa pigeons.
सोमाय लबान् आ लभते त्वष्ट्रे कौलीकान् गोषादीर् देवानां पत्नीभ्यः कुलीका देवजामिभ्यो ऽग्नये गृहपतये पारुष्णान्
For Soma he obtains lapwings, for Tvaṣṭṛ the kaulīka birds, for the cowsheds the birds of the wives of the gods, for Agni, the lord of the house, the pāruṣṇa birds.
अह्ने पारावतान् आ लभते रात्र्यै सीचापूर् अहोरात्रयोः संधिभ्यो जतूर् मासेभ्यो दात्यौहान्त् संवत्सराय महतः सुपर्णान्
For the day he obtains doves, for the night the sīcāpū bird, for the junctions of day and night the jatū bird, for the months the dātyuha, for the year the great eagle.
भूम्या ऽ आखून् आ लभते ऽन्तरिक्षाय पाङ्क्तान् दिवे कशान् दिग्भ्यो नकुलान् बभ्रुकान् अवान्तरदिशाभ्यः
From the earth, he obtains rats; for the midspace, mongooses in fives; for the sky, shrews; for the directions, mongooses and civets; for the intermediate directions, striped mongooses.
वसुभ्य ऽ ऋश्यान् आ लभते रुद्रेभ्यः रुरून् आदित्येभ्यो न्यङ्कून् विश्वेभ्यो देवेभ्यः पृषतान्त् साध्येभ्यः कुलुङ्गान्
For the Vasus, he obtains antelopes; for the Rudras, spotted deer; for the Ādityas, nyanku deer; for all the gods, spotted antelopes; for the Sādhyas, kulunga deer.
ईशानाय परस्वत ऽ आ लभते मित्राय गौरान् वरुणाय महिषान् बृहस्पतये गवयाꣳस् त्वष्ट्र ऽ उष्ट्रान्
For Īśāna, he obtains parasvata animals; for Mitra, cows; for Varuṇa, buffaloes; for Bṛhaspati, wild oxen; for Tvaṣṭṛ, camels.
प्रजापतये पुरुषान् हस्तिन ऽ आ लभते वाचे प्लुषीꣳश् चक्षुषे मशकाञ्छ्रोत्राय भृङ्गाः
For Prajāpati, he obtains men; for Hastī, elephants; for Vāc, the pluṣi bird; for Cakṣuṣ, flies; for Śrotra, bees.
प्रजापतये च वायवे च गोमृगो वरुणायारण्यो मेषो यमाय कृष्णो मनुष्यराजाय मर्कटः शार्दूलाय रोहिद् ऋषभाय गवयी क्षिप्रश्येनाय वर्तिका नीलङ्गोः कृमिः समुद्राय शिशुमारो हिमवते हस्ती
For Prajāpati and Vāyu, cattle and wild animals; for Varuṇa, the forest ram; for Yama, the black antelope; for the king of men, the monkey; for the tiger, the red cow; for the bull, the wild cow; for the swift hawk, the quail; for the blue-necked one, the worm; for the ocean, the porpoise; for the snowy mountain, the elephant.
मयुः प्राजापत्य ऽ उलो हलिक्ष्णो वृषदꣳशस् ते धात्रे दिशां कङ्को धुङ्क्षाग्नेयी कलविङ्को लोहिताहिः पुष्करसादस् ते त्वाष्ट्रा वाचे क्रुञ्चः
The peacock belongs to Prajāpati; the owl to Halikṣṇa; the vṛṣadamsha fly to Dhātri; the heron to the directions; the cuckoo to Agni; the kalaviṅka bird to Lohitāhi; the puṣkarasāda bird to Tvaṣṭṛ; the crane to Vāc.
सोमाय कुलुङ्ग ऽ आरण्यो ऽजो नकुलः शका ते पौष्णाः क्रोष्टा मायोर् इन्द्रस्य गौरमृगः पिद्वो न्यङ्कुः कक्कटस् ते ऽनुमत्यै प्रतिश्रुत्कायै चक्रवाकः
For Soma, the kulunga deer; for the forest, the wild goat; for Nakula, the mongoose; for Śaka, the pauṣṇa birds; for the jackal, the peacock; for Indra, the wild cow; for Pidva, the nyanku deer; for Kakkaṭa, the crab; for Anumati, the pratishrutkā bird; for Cakravāka, the ruddy shelduck.
सौरी बलाका शार्गः सृजयः शयाण्डकस् ते मैत्राः सरस्वत्यै शारिः पुरुषवाक् श्वाविद् भौमी शार्दूलो वृकः पृदाकुस् ते मन्यवे सरस्वते शुकः पुरुषवाक्
The balākā crane belongs to Sūrya; the śārga bird to Sṛjaya; the śayāṇḍaka bird to the Maitrā; the śāri bird to Sarasvatī; the puruṣavāk bird to the dog; the śārdūla tiger to the earth; the wolf to Pṛdāku; the parrot to Manyu; the śuka parrot to Sarasvatī; the puruṣavāk bird to the man.
सुपर्णः पार्जन्य ऽ आतिर्वाहसो दर्विदा ते वायवे बृहस्पतये वाचस् पतये पैङ्गराजो ऽलज ऽ आन्तरिक्षः प्लवो मद्गुर् मत्स्यस् ते नदीपतये द्यावापृथिवीयः कूर्मः
The suparṇa bird belongs to Parjanya; the ātirvāhasa bird to Darvida; the vulture to Vāyu; the kalaviṅka bird to Agni; the puṣkarasāda bird to Tvaṣṭṛ; the crane to Vāc; the plava bird to the midspace; the madgu bird and the fish to the lord of rivers; the tortoise to Dyāvāpṛthivī.
पुरुषमृगश् चन्द्रमसो गोधा कालका दार्वाघाटस् ते वनस्पतीनां कृकवाकुः सावित्रो हꣳसो वातस्य नाक्रो मकरः कुलीपयस् ते ऽकूपारस्य ह्रियै शल्पकः
The puruṣamṛga belongs to the moon; the iguana to Kālakā; the dārvāghāṭa bird to the lords of the forest; the kṛkavāku bird to Sāvitr; the swan to Vāta; the nākra crocodile to Makara; the kulīpaya bird to Akūpāra; the śalpa bird to Hri.
एण्य् अह्नो मण्डूको मूषिका तित्तिरिस् ते सर्पाणां लोपाश ऽ आश्विनः कृष्णो रात्र्या ऽ ऋक्षो जतूः सुषिलीका त ऽ इतरजनानां जहका वैष्णवी
The eṇi antelope belongs to the day; the frog to the night; the mouse to the partridge; the snake to the Aśvins; the black one to the night; the bear to the jatū; the suṣilīkā bird to the other people; the jahaka bird to Viṣṇu.
अन्यवापो ऽर्धमासानाम् ऋश्यो मयूरः सुपर्णस् ते गन्धर्वाणाम् अपाम् उद्रो मासां कश्यपो रोहित् कुण्डृणाची गोलत्तिका ते ऽप्सरसां मृत्यवे ऽसितः
The anyavāpa bird to the half-months; the ṛśya antelope to the peacock; the suparṇa bird to the Gandharvas; the otter to the waters; the kaśyapa turtle to the months; the red fish to Kuṇḍṛṇācī; the golattikā bird to the Apsarases; the asita black bird to Death.
वर्षाहूर् ऋतूनाम् आखुः कशो मान्थालस् ते पितॄणां बलायाजगरो वसूनां कपिञ्जलः कपोत ऽ उलूकः शशस् ते निर्ऋत्यै वरुणायारण्यो मेषः
The varṣāhū bird to the seasons; the rat to the shrew; the mānthāla bird to the ancestors; the python to the Vasus; the francolin to the pigeons; the owl to the hare; the forest ram to Nirṛti and Varuṇa.
श्वित्र ऽ आदित्यानाम् उष्ट्रो घृणीवान् वार्ध्रीणसस् ते मत्या ऽ अरण्याय सृमरो रुरू रौद्रः क्वयिः कुटरुर् दात्यौहस् ते वाजिनां कामाय पिकः
The śvitra bird to the Ādityas; the camel to the shining one; the vulture to Matī; the sṛmara to the forest; the spotted deer to Rudra; the kvayi bird to Kuṭarur; the dātyauha bird to the steeds; the pika bird to Kāma.
खड्गो वैश्वदेवः श्वा कृष्णः कर्णो गर्दभस् तरक्षुस् ते रक्षसाम् इन्द्राय सूकरः सिꣳहो मारुताः कृकलासः पिप्पका शकुनिस् ते शरव्यायै विश्वेषां देवानां पृषतः
The rhinoceros to the Viśvadevas; the black dog to Karṇa; the donkey to Tarakṣu; the bear to the Rakṣasas; the boar to Indra; the lion to the Maruts; the kṛkalāsa bird to Pippaka; the śakuni bird to the missile; the spotted antelope to all the gods.
शादं दद्भिर् अवकां दन्तमूलैर् मृदं बर्स्वैस् तेगान् दꣳष्ट्राभ्याꣳ सरस्वत्या ऽ अग्रजिह्वं जिह्वाया ऽ उत्सादम् अवक्रन्देन तालु वाजꣳ हनुभ्याम् अप ऽ आस्येन वृषणम् आण्डाभ्याम् आदित्याꣳ श्मश्रुभिः पन्थानं भ्रूभ्यां द्यावापृथिवी वर्तोभ्यां विद्युतं कनीनकाभ्याꣳ शुक्लाय स्वाहा कृष्णाय स्वाहा पार्याणि पक्ष्माण्य् अवार्या ऽ इक्षवो वार्याणि पक्ष्माणि पार्या ऽ इक्षवः
The śādaṃ bird with curds, the avakā plant with roots of teeth, clay with barley, the tegā plant with tusks, Sarasvatī with the tip of the tongue, the base of the tongue with the uvula, the palate with the jaws, water with the mouth, the virile member with the testicles, the Ādityas with the beard, the path with the eyebrows, Dyāvāpṛthivī with the eyelids, lightning with the eyelashes, white to Svāhā, black to Svāhā, the upper eyelids are the barriers, the lower eyelids are the barriers.
वातं प्राणेनापानेन नासिके ऽ उपयामम् अधरेणौष्ठेन सद् उत्तरेण प्रकाशेनान्तरम् अनूकाशेन बाह्यं निवेष्यं मूर्ध्ना स्तनयित्नुं निर्बाधेनाशनिं मस्तिष्केण विद्युतं कनीनकाभ्यां कर्णाभ्याꣳ श्रोत्रꣳ श्रोत्राभ्यां कर्णौ तेदनीम् अधरकण्ठेनापः शुष्ककण्ठेन चित्तं मन्याभिर् अदितिꣳ शीर्ष्णा निर्ऋतिं निर्जर्जल्पेन शीर्ष्णा संक्रोशैः प्राणान् रेष्माणꣳ स्तुपेन
Wind with inhalation and exhalation, the nostrils with the approach, the lower lip with the good, the upper with the shining, the inner with the less shining, the outer with the placing, the head with thunder, the brain with lightning, the ears with hearing, the hearing with the ears, then the lower throat with water, the dry throat with the mind, the neck with Aditi, the head with Nirṛti, the head with the loud sound, the breath with the hair, the heap with the body.
मशकान् केशैर् इन्द्रꣳ स्वपसा वहेन बृहस्पतिꣳ शकुनिसादेन कूर्माञ्छफैर् आक्रमणꣳ स्थूराभ्याम् ऋक्षलाभिः कपिञ्जलान् जवं जङ्घाभ्याम् अध्वानं बाहुभ्यां जाम्बीलेनारण्यम् अग्निम् अतिरुग्भ्यां पूषणं दोर्भ्याम् अश्विनाव् अꣳसाभ्याꣳ रुद्रꣳ रोराभ्याम्
Mosquitoes with the hair, Indra with sleep, Bṛhaspati with the bird's seat, tortoises with the shells, the step with the thighs, the bear with the calves, the francolins with speed, the journey with the arms, the arani wood with the jaw, Agni with the forearms, Pūṣan with the arms, the Aśvins with the shoulders, Rudra with the howling.
अग्नेः पक्षतिर् वायोर् निपक्षतिर् इन्द्रस्य तृतीया सोमस्य चतुर्थ्य् अदित्यै पञ्चमीन्द्राण्यै षष्ठी मरुताꣳ सप्तमी बृहस्पतेर् अष्टम्य् अर्यम्णो नवमी धातुर् दशमीन्द्रस्यैकादशी वरुणस्य द्वादशी यमस्य त्रयोदशी
The first part belongs to Agni, the second to Vāyu, the third to Indra, the fourth to Soma, the fifth to Aditi, the sixth to Indrāṇī, the seventh to the Maruts, the eighth to Bṛhaspati, the ninth to Aryaman, the tenth to Dhātu, the eleventh to Indra, the twelfth to Varuṇa, and the thirteenth to Yama.
इन्द्राग्न्योः पक्षतिर् सरस्वत्यै निपक्षतिर् मित्रस्य तृतीयापां चतुर्थी निर्ऋत्यै पञ्चम्य् अग्नीषोमयोः षष्ठी सर्पाणाꣳ सप्तमी विष्णोर् अष्टमी पूष्णो नवमी त्वष्टुर् दशमीन्द्रस्यैकादशी वरुणस्य द्वादशी यम्यै त्रयोदशी द्यावापृथिव्योर् दक्षिणं पार्श्वं विश्वेषां देवानाम् उत्तरम्
The first part belongs to Indra and Agni, the second to Sarasvatī, the third to Mitra, the fourth to the Waters, the fifth to Nirṛti, the sixth to Agni and Soma, the seventh to the Serpents, the eighth to Viṣṇu, the ninth to Pūṣan, the tenth to Tvaṣṭṛ, the eleventh to Indra, the twelfth to Varuṇa, the thirteenth to Yamī; the southern side to Dyāvā-Pṛthivī, the northern to all the gods.
