With the winter season, the gods, the Maruts, were praised in the thirty-ninth hymn; with strength and power, they gave oblation to Indra, and bestowed vitality.
शैशिरेण ऽ ऋतुना देवास् त्रयस्त्रिꣳशे ऽमृता स्तुताः । सत्येन रेवतीः क्षत्रꣳ हविर् इन्द्रे वयो दधुः

Let the Hotṛ invoke the Aśvins, Sarasvatī, Indra the well-knowing; these Somas, pressed with goats, sheep, bulls, with shoots, not with husks, with grains, great, exhilarating, well-purified, bright, rich in milk, immortal, set forth, flowing with honey—may the Aśvins, Sarasvatī, Indra the well-knowing, the slayer of Vṛtra, be pleased with them; let them drink and enjoy the Soma sweetness. O Hotṛ, offer the oblation.

O Hotṛ, offer.

Let the Hotṛ invoke the Lord of the Forest, for he is bound with the strongest, most splendid cord; where are the dear abodes of the Aśvins for the goat offering, where are the dear abodes of Sarasvatī for the sheep offering, where are the dear abodes of Indra for the bull offering, where are the dear abodes of Agni, where are the dear abodes of Soma, where are the dear abodes of Indra the well-knowing, where are the dear abodes of Savitṛ, where are the dear abodes of Varuṇa, where are the dear paths of the Lord of the Forest, where are the dear abodes of the gods who drink clarified butter, where are the dear abodes of Agni the Hotṛ—there, as prepared and praised, let him bring these, making them most abundant; thus may the divine Lord of the Forest be pleased with the oblation. Let the Hotṛ invoke Agni, the maker of the proper offering; let Agni accept the dear abodes of the Aśvins for the goat offering, let him accept the dear abodes of Sarasvatī for the sheep offering, let him accept the dear abodes of Indra for the bull offering, let him accept the dear abodes of Agni, let him accept the dear abodes of Soma, let him accept the dear abodes of Indra the well-knowing, let him accept the dear abodes of Savitṛ, let him accept the dear abodes of Varuṇa, let him accept the dear paths of the Lord of the Forest, let him accept the dear abodes of the gods who drink clarified butter; let him invoke the dear abodes of Agni the Hotṛ; let him invoke his own greatness; let him, being worshipped, grant food; may Jātavedas, the knower of all, be pleased with the oblation. देवं बर्हिः सरस्वती सुदेवम् इन्द्रे ऽ अश्विना । तेजो न चक्षुर् अक्ष्योर् बर्हिषा दधुर् इन्द्रियं वसुवने वसुधेयस्य व्यन्तु यज
Sarasvatī, the sacred grass, is divine, well-placed for Indra and the Aśvins; like the light of the eye, they have placed power upon the sacred grass for the possessor of wealth, for the gaining of wealth. May they enjoy. Offer.
