With a heart full of devotion and longing, I approach the sacred altar, invoking the powers of sacrifice to fulfill every noble desire. May peace and delight come to me; may affection, favor, and happiness be mine. Through this offering, let fortune, wealth, welfare, and prosperity flow into my life, bringing greater excellence and lasting fame. Let vigor and sweet speech be granted; may I be nourished with essence, clarified butter, and honey. May I enjoy good food and drink, fruitful fields, abundant rain, victory, and a bounty of healing plants—all through the grace of this sacrifice. I pray for inexhaustible wealth and riches, for nourishment and thriving abundance. May I grow, expand, and master my world, experiencing fullness and ever greater fullness, with good harvests and freedom from hunger—may these blessings be secured by my offering. Let me gain possessions and understanding: what is known and what is yet to be, easy passage and a good path, prosperity and increase, preparation and readiness, wisdom and discernment—let all these be accomplished for me through the sacred rite. May the earth yield her grains—rice and barley, beans and sesame, green gram and millet, priyaṅgu and panic seed, black millet, wild rice, wheat, and lentils. Let these gifts be mine through sacrifice. Let the stones, the clay, the hills and mountains, sand and forest trees, gold, copper, iron, lead, and tin—all the treasures of the earth—be granted to me through the power of the ritual. May I receive fire and water, herbs and healing plants, cultivated and wild crops, domestic and wild animals, wealth and prosperity, being and becoming—let all these be fulfilled through sacrifice. Let me have goods and a dwelling, the power to act, purpose and wish, and the attainment of my goals—may the sacrifice secure these for me. May the divine powers be with me: Agni and Indra, Soma and Indra, Savitṛ and Indra, Sarasvatī and Indra, Pūṣan and Indra, Bṛhaspati and Indra—let all their blessings be accomplished for me through this sacred act. Let Mitra and Indra, Varuṇa and Indra, Dhātṛ and Indra, Tvaṣṭṛ and Indra, the Maruts and Indra, and all the gods with Indra, bestow their grace upon me through the sacrifice. Let Earth and Indra, the atmosphere and Indra, the sky and Indra, the seasons and Indra, the stars and Indra, the directions and Indra—may all these divine pairings bring their blessings to me through the sacrifice. May the Soma stalk, the sun’s ray, the undeceivable one, the lord, the low-voiced, the inner controller, the Indra-Vāyu oblation, the Maitrāvaruṇa, the Aśvins, the Pratiprasthāna, the Śukra, and the Manthī—all these be accomplished for me through the sacrifice. Let the Āgrayaṇa, the Vaiśvadeva, the Dhruva, the Vaiśvānara, the Indrāgni, the Mahāvaiśvadeva, the Marutvatīya, the Niṣkevalya, the Sāvitra, the Sārasvata, the Patnīvata, and the Hāriyojana—may all these sacred rites and their powers be granted to me through the sacrifice. May the sacrificial ladles and cups, the Vāyavya vessels, the Droṇakalaśa, the pressing stones, the Adhiṣavaṇa, the strainer, the Ādhavanīya, the altar, the sacred grass, the Avabhṛtha bath, and the Svagākāra chant—all these sacred implements and acts—be fulfilled for me through the sacrifice. Let Agni, the Gharma, the Ark, the Sun, the breath of life, the great Aśvamedha, the Earth, Aditi and Diti, the sky, the fingers, the Śakvarī verses, and the directions—may all these be accomplished for me through the sacrifice. Let observance and the seasons, austerity, the year, day and night, and the Urvaṣṭhī and Bṛhadrathantara chants—may all these be fulfilled for me through the sacrifice. May all the sacred numbers—one, three, five, seven, nine, eleven, thirteen, fifteen, seventeen, nineteen, twenty-one, twenty-three, twenty-five, twenty-seven, twenty-nine, thirty-one, thirty-three—be established for me through the sacrifice. May I receive four, eight, twelve, sixteen, twenty, twenty-four, twenty-eight, thirty-two, thirty-six, forty, forty-four, forty-eight—may all these sacred numbers be fulfilled for me through the sacrifice. Let the three-year-old male and female, the two-year-old male and female, the five-year-old male and female, the three-calved male and female, the four-year-old male and female—all these offerings—be prepared for me by sacrifice. May the six-year-old male and female, the bull, the cow, the ox, the draught animal, and the milch cow—all these be prepared for me by sacrifice. With reverence, I offer oblations to strength, to increase, to progeny, to the ritual, to wealth, to the lord of the day and to the day itself, to the innocent, to the destroyer and the end-bringer, to the lord of existence and the world, to the overlord and the lord of progeny. I dedicate Mitra’s chariot, which guides and restrains, for strength, rain, progeny, and lordship. May the sacrifice prepare life, breath, sight, hearing, speech, mind, self, sacred knowledge, light, heaven, the back, and sacrifice itself. May the chant, the Yajus, the Rik, the Sāma, the Bṛhat, and the Rathantara be present. As the gods have attained heaven, so have we become immortal, the children of Prajāpati. Svāhā! By the power of strength, I address Mother Earth, Aditi, with words of reverence. In her, all beings and the entire world reside. May Savitṛ, the divine inspirer, establish righteousness in her for us. May all the Maruts, all helpers, all kindled fires, and all the gods come to us today with aid. May all wealth and strength be ours. Let strength come to us from the seven regions and the four quarters, accompanied by all the gods, bringing us wealth. Today, strength brings generous gifts; strength, with the gods and the seasons, arranges the offering. Strength has produced all heroes—may I, as lord of strength, conquer all directions. Strength stands before us and among us; strength increases the gods through offering. Strength has made all heroes—may I become lord of strength in every direction. I unite myself with the nourishing milk of the earth, with the waters and the plants. May I obtain strength, O Agni. There is milk in the earth, in the plants, in the sky and atmosphere, in all the regions. May the regions rich in milk be mine. By the impulse of the divine Savitṛ, by the arms of the Aśvins, by the hands of Pūṣan, by the guidance of Sarasvatī, and by the sovereignty of Agni, I anoint you. Agni, whose abode and domain are truth, Gandharva, whose plants and waters are named delight—may he protect for us this sacred knowledge and power. To him, svāhā; to the enclosures, svāhā. The Sun, united with all melodies, Gandharva, whose rays and waters are called life—may he protect for us this sacred knowledge and power. To him, svāhā; to the enclosures, svāhā. Suṣumṇa, the sun’s ray, the moon, Gandharva, whose stars and waters are called shining ones—may he protect for us this sacred knowledge and power. To him, svāhā; to the enclosures, svāhā. Iṣira, the all-pervading wind, Gandharva, whose waters are called nourishment—may he protect for us this sacred knowledge and power. To him, svāhā; to the enclosures, svāhā. Bhujyu, the eagle, sacrifice, Gandharva, whose gifts and waters are called praise—may he protect for us this sacred knowledge and power. To him, svāhā; to the enclosures, svāhā. Prajāpati, the all-creator, mind, Gandharva, whose hymns and melodies are called offerings—may he protect for us this sacred knowledge and power. To him, svāhā; to the enclosures, svāhā. O Lord of the worlds and of progeny, whose dwellings are above, whose power is here—grant great protection to this Brahman and this Kshatriya. Svāhā. You are the ocean, the sky, the moist giver, the auspicious one, the bringer of joy—carry me forth. Svāhā. You are the wind, the host of the Maruts, the auspicious one, the bringer of joy—carry me forth. Svāhā. You are the helper, the giver of good, the auspicious one, the bringer of joy—carry me forth. Svāhā. O Agni, those rays of yours in the sun that stretch across the sky—by all those lights today, make us radiant people. O gods, those lights of yours in the sun, in cows, in horses—Indra and Agni, by all those lights, grant us radiance, O Brihaspati.
