O Soma, the radiant one, whatever light you possess in the heavens, whatever brilliance shines upon the earth, and whatever illumination fills the vast midspace, let that light bestow wide and abundant wealth upon these two devoted sacrificers. Announce this wealth as a gift, for their offering is sincere. You, powerful goddesses—mighty, obstacles destroyed, praised for your generosity, consorts of immortality—you are summoned by the gods themselves. Lead this sacred sacrifice, partake of the Soma, and let your presence grace the ritual. Let there be no fear, no confusion. O Dhiṣaṇā, place strength within us. In your wisdom, may you both grant and bestow strength, for with your blessing, sin is destroyed and Soma remains pure. Let every direction—east, west, north, and the realm below—rush eagerly toward you. O Mother, reveal yourself; allow us to discern our enemies and protect us from harm. Among all, you alone, O mighty god, bring peace to mortals. There is no helper equal to you, O generous Indra. To you, I address these heartfelt words, seeking your protection and favor. Purify yourself, O powerful one, for the lord of speech, cleansed by the two shining hands. O god, purify yourself for the gods, among whom you have your share. Make the offerings sweet for us. Whatever name of yours, O Soma, has been awakened among those who receive Soma, to that Soma, for Soma, svāhā, svāhā. I follow the path through the wide midspace. You are consecrated for all the divine and earthly senses. May Tvaṣṭṛ, the divine artisan, shape your mind. Svāhā to you, O good-born, for Sūrya. To the gods, to the Marīcis, to the divine portion—whatever is truly yours, that is truth. The one above is struck down, broken—phaṭ. To prāṇa, to vyāna. You are taken up for approach. Hold your gifts within, O generous one, and protect the Soma. Through this worship, may wide wealth be granted. Within you, I place heaven and earth; within you, the broad midspace. Together with the gods, both those near and far, rejoice within, O generous one. Again, you are consecrated for all the divine and earthly senses. May Tvaṣṭṛ fashion your mind. Svāhā to you, O good-born, for Sūrya. To the gods, to the Marīcis. To udāna. Come, O Vāyu, adorned and pure, the drinker of Soma; let your thousand troops, who choose all, come to us. I bring you the intoxicating draught, whose first taste is always yours, O god. This is for you, O Vāyu. O Indra and Vāyu, these pressed draughts await you—come with favor. The drops yearn for you both. You are taken up for approach, O Vāyu; to Indra and Vāyu, this is your seat. Together, receive this offering. This Soma is pressed for you, O Mitra and Varuṇa, increasers of truth. May my call reach you. You are taken up for approach, to Mitra and Varuṇa, this is your seat. May we, together with our companions, rejoice in wealth; may the gods accept our offering, and may the cows thrive on their fodder. Mitra and Varuṇa, grant us that ever-yielding, never-failing cow; this is your seat, placed here for the keepers of truth. O Aśvins, your whip is sweet, bringing forth pleasant speech; with it, may you nurture this sacrifice. You are welcomed by the Aśvins; this is your seat, placed for those who delight in sweetness. You are ancient, foremost, all-encompassing, eldest, seated on sacred grass, knowing the light. You nourish the people, swift and victorious, growing among those who serve. You are received for the eunuch; this is your seat, guarding virility. The eunuch is purified. May the gods who drink the radiant one favor you. You are invincible. The mighty one, generator of heroes, surrounds the sacrificer with prosperity, shining in heaven and earth with radiant brilliance. The eunuch is removed; you are the abode of the bright one. May we, O god Soma, be givers of unbroken strength, heroic power, and abundant wealth. This is the first, universal preparation; Varuṇa, Mitra, and Agni are the foremost. Bṛhaspati is the first, the wise one; therefore, offer the pressed Soma to Indra with the exclamation 'svāhā.' May the officiants enjoy the sweet offerings, well-pleased and well-invoked, with 'svāhā.' Agni remains unharmed. You are received; you belong to the Ādityas. For Viṣṇu's wide stride, this Soma is yours; protect it, let no harm come to you. Never are you weak; O Indra, you are united with the worshipper. Through approach, O generous one, may your gift be sought from the god. You belong to the Ādityas. Never do you abandon; you guard both births. May the fourth Āditya's pressing—his power—reach immortality in heaven. You belong to the Ādityas. The sacrifice moves toward the favor of the gods; may the Ādityas be merciful. May your favorable thought come near, dispelling distress and granting the best path. You belong to the Ādityas. O Vivasvat and Ādityas, this is your Soma seat; delight in it. May men place their faith in his words; when the couple receives blessings, a son is born, wealth is gained, and prosperity fills the home each day. Grant us prosperity today, O Savitar; grant us prosperity tomorrow, and every day. For the dwelling of prosperity, O god, by this prayer, may we be among those who share in prosperity. You are received; you belong to Savitar; you are a remover of evil—place that removal in me. Strengthen the sacrifice, strengthen the lord of sacrifice, for fortune, for god Savitar. You are received; you are well-protected, firmly established, and richly yielding. Homage to you. You belong to all the gods. This is your seat; I place you here for all the gods. You are received; you belong to the pressed Soma of Bṛhaspati, O god Soma, to Indra, the powerful, to the husbandly grahas. I am above, I am below; whatever is in the midspace, that is my father. I have seen the sun on both sides; I have seen the highest secret of the gods. O Agni, with your spouse and with Tvaṣṭṛ, drink Soma, svāhā. Prajāpati, you are vigorous, the bearer of seed; place the seed in me. Of Prajāpati, the vigorous, the seed-bearers, may I partake of the seed. You are received; you are Hari, yoked with Hari; you belong to the two Haris. You are their wealth, with abundant Soma, for Indra. Whatever is your horse-offering, your food, your cow-offering, I eat that which is pleasingly offered, the praised Soma, well-spoken, well-invoked, well-offered. I eat that food. You remove the sin committed by gods, by humans, by ancestors, and by oneself; you remove every kind of sin. Whatever sin I knowingly or unknowingly committed, you are the remover of all that sin. May we attain brilliance, nourishment, and strong bodies together, with an auspicious mind. May Tvaṣṭṛ, the gracious giver, bestow wealth and remove whatever is defective in our bodies. O Indra, lead us with your mind, with cows, with wise and generous companions, and with well-being. With sacred utterance, with what is made by the gods, with the favor of the worshipful gods, may we be united. Svāhā. May we attain brilliance, nourishment, and strong bodies together, with an auspicious mind. May Tvaṣṭṛ, the gracious giver, bestow wealth and remove whatever is defective in our bodies. May Dhātṛ and Rati, may Savitṛ accept this; may Prajāpati, the guardian of treasures, and god Agni accept it. May Tvaṣṭṛ and Viṣṇu, delighting in offspring, grant wealth to the sacrificer. Svāhā. O gods, we have prepared for you an easy seat; you who have come to this Soma-pressing, delight in it. Bearing and carrying the offerings, grant us, O Vasus, the treasures. Svāhā. Bring here, O Agni, those eager gods; urge them to your seat. All who eat and drink, let them ascend to the vital warmth, the radiant energy. Svāhā. For in this sacrifice, O Agni, we choose you here as the Hotṛ priest. Come to the sacrifice, knowing, with favor and prosperity, with each one, with each wish, O knower. Svāhā.
