May we be blessed with prosperity—surrounded by heroes, abundant cattle and horses, and every form of nourishment. May bipeds and quadrupeds thrive with us, and may the gods themselves guide our sacrifice in harmony with the turning seasons. Agni, sacred fire, we call upon you: bring forth the radiant wives of the gods and Tvaṣṭṛ, the divine artisan, to partake in the Soma offering. Goddesses, praise this sacrifice! Let the Neṣṭṛ, the priest who prepares the offering, drink according to the seasons, for you are the guardians of treasures. The giver of wealth longs for this moment; let the offering be made, and let the Neṣṭṛ seek favor in the proper time. Indra, this Soma is yours—come with a gracious heart, drink of the finest, and take your seat upon the sacred grass. May you place this pressed Soma within yourself. All you who are well-invoked, come! Sit upon the sacred grass, delight in the offerings. Tvaṣṭṛ, rejoice with the gods and their children, O joyful host. Soma flows now, sweet and delightful, its stream pressed for Indra to drink. O destroyer of demons, universal protector, approach your seat. Sit in the vessel, in the place of offering. Agni, may the seasons nourish you. May the years, the sages, and the righteous uphold you. Shine with celestial brilliance and illuminate all four directions. Unite, Agni, awaken and rouse the one who is to be blessed. Rise up, bringing great fortune. Let your approach bring no harm. May the prayers of the Brahmans bring you glory, and let no others do so. Chosen by these priests, Agni, be auspicious and protect us. Strike down our foes, conquer those who oppose us. Remain ever watchful in our home, never failing. Here, Agni, establish wealth for us. Let those who have harmed us before not diminish you. Let strength, well-disciplined, be yours; may your approacher, unchallenged, grow ever greater. With might, Agni, seize a long and prosperous life. With friendship, strive for all that is worthy of a friend. Stand among your kin and shine here, Agni, to be invoked by kings. Surpass all that is hidden and secret, surpass ignorance and enmity, Agni. Overcome every evil and grant us wealth with strong companions. Unassailable, all-knowing, unconquered and glorious, Agni, upholder of sovereignty—shine here. Free us from all human fears and protect us today, so we may grow with your blessings. Bṛhaspati and Savitar, awaken the one who is prepared. Guide him safely across, make him flourish for great good fortune, and may all the gods rejoice in him. May he journey to the realm where Yama dwells. Bṛhaspati, release him from any curse. Let the Aśvins drive away death from him, and Agni, physician of the gods, heal him with your powers. From darkness we have come into light, beholding the highest realm. We have reached the god among gods—the Sun, the supreme light. Agni’s flames rise upward, his radiant rays ascend, and the son, most beautiful in form, shines resplendent. Tanūnapāt, the wise Asura, god among gods and all-knowing, may he anoint our paths with honey and ghee. With honey and delight in the sacrifice, O Naraśaṃsa and Agni, the god Savitar—well-worshipped, bestower of all blessings—is pleased. He moves with might toward the shade, anointed with ghee, praised with reverence, the sacrificial fire at the offerings. Let him enjoy the greatness of Agni—he who is delightful and generous, active and a bestower of wealth. All the divine doors attend him; every vow is established for Agni, who spreads wide and rules by his domain. May the two divine maidens, Uṣas and Naktā, like women in the heavenly womb, protect this sacrifice and our ritual. Let the two divine Hotṛs raise our sacrifice and praise Agni’s tongue, ensuring our offering is well-placed. May the three goddesses—Iḍā, Sarasvatī, and Bhāratī—sit here on the sacred grass, great and praised. May Tvaṣṭṛ, wondrous and skillful, grant us extraordinary strength, abundance, and prosperity. O Lord of the forest, as you rejoice among the gods, Agni the appeaser prepares the offering. Agni, Svāhā! Jātavedas, offer this to Indra, and may all the gods accept this oblation. Rich in food, increasing in wealth, wise and radiant, he moves among the hosts, adorned with splendor. United in mind, they stand for Vāyu, accomplishing noble deeds. For wealth, the two worlds gave birth to him; for wealth, divine Dhiṣaṇā grants to the god. The hosts accompany Vāyu, and radiant Vasudhiti stands out. When the mighty waters, bearing all, held the embryo and gave birth to Agni, from them arose the one lord of the gods. To which god shall we offer our oblation? Who beheld the waters in their greatness, holding skill and giving birth to sacrifice? Who among the gods was the one above the others? To which god shall we offer our oblation? By whom you come to the worshipper, accompanied by hosts, for Vāyu’s delight in the home—grant us wealth, heroic sons, cattle, horses, and gifts that are easy to enjoy. Come, Vāyu, with your hosts—hundreds and thousands—to the sacrifice. Approach the offering, rejoice in this pressing, and always protect us with your blessings. Vāyu, radiant one, I approach you. Enter the house of the one who presses Soma, accompanied by your hosts. Vāyu, foremost among the sweet and radiant ones in heaven, come for the drinking of Soma, splendid god, with your hosts. Vāyu, leader, pleased by sacrifice, attends the offering with his group and mind—auspicious with auspicious hosts. Vāyu, come with your thousand chariots, accompanied by hosts, for the drinking of Soma. Thus, with reverence and devotion, the sacrifice unfolds—guided by the gods, blessed by the seasons, and made radiant by the divine presence in every offering.
