May we, the seekers, ascend the well-built earth and the flawless sky, guided by Aditi, who offers shelter and leads us well. With her grace, may we reach the radiant, sinless, divine boat—unsullied and pure—that carries us toward well-being. Let us board this good boat, equipped with a hundred oars, secure and untainted, for our welfare. Mitrā and Varuṇa, pour forth your abundance upon us—let cows rich with ghee be ours. O skillful deities, sweeten all the realms with honey, making them delightful. Stretch out your arms to protect our lives; grant us abundance and renown among people. O youthful, radiant ones, hear our invocation and make our names shine. May the swift and friendly gods, devoted to the divine, bring us happiness through our offerings. Let them drive away serpents, wolves, and demons, and ward off all diseases from us. In every contest, protect us, O swift ones. In all matters of wealth, O wise immortals who know the truth, partake of this honeyed offering—rejoice in it, be satisfied, and proceed along the paths of the gods. Agni, kindled and well-tended with fuel, stands as the chosen one. The Gāyatrī meter, the threefold strength, the cow, and the vital power have all been taken up in his honor. The guardian of the body, pure in vow, along with Sarasvatī, the Uṣṇih meter, the twofold strength, the cow, and the vital power, have also been invoked. Agni, praised with Iḍā, alongside Soma the immortal, the Anuṣṭup meter, the fivefold strength, the cow, and the vital power, are taken up. Agni, seated splendidly with Pūṣan, on a well-strewn seat, immortal, with the Bṛhatī meter, the threefold calf, the cow, and the vital power, is honored. The great divine directions, Bṛhaspati the divine priest, the Paṅkti meter, the fourth strength, the cow, and the vital power are all taken up. The youthful and beautiful dawns, all the immortal gods, the Triṣṭup meter, the sixth strength, the cow, and the vital power are invoked. The two divine Hotṛs, healers united with Indra, the Jagatī meter, the strength, the bull, the cow, and the vital power are taken up. The three goddesses—Iḍā, Sarasvatī, and Bhāratī—along with the Maruts, the clans, the Virāṭ meter, the seventh strength, the cow as a milch-cow, and the vital power are honored. Tvaṣṭṛ the shaper, Indra and Agni the nourishers, the Dvipadā meter, the strength, the bull, the cow as a bull, and the vital power are taken up. The vanaspati as pacifier, Savitṛ bestowing fortune, the Kakubh meter, the eighth strength, the cow as a heifer, and the vital power are invoked. May Varuṇa, with his good rule, make our sacrifice successful with the utterance 'svāhā' and bestow remedies. The Aticchandā meter, the great bull, the cow, and the vital power are taken up. With the season of spring, the gods, the Vasus, are praised with the threefold hymn and the brilliance of Rathantara; the oblation, Indra, and the vital power are honored. With the summer, the Rudras are praised in the fifteenth hymn; with great glory, they give strength, offering oblation to Indra and bestowing vitality. With the rainy season, the Ādityas are praised in the seventeenth hymn; with universal might, they offer to Indra and bestow vitality. In autumn, the Ṛbhus are praised in the twenty-first hymn; with splendid majesty, they give prosperity, offering to Indra and bestowing vitality. With winter, the Maruts are praised in the thirty-ninth hymn; with power, they offer to Indra and bestow vitality. In the cool season, the Immortal gods are praised in the thirty-third hymn; with truth and abundance, they give sovereignty, offering to Indra and bestowing vitality. Let the Hotar, the priest, worship Agni with kindling, at the place of Iḍā, together with the Aśvins, Indra, Sarasvatī, and the dark ram. Let him offer barley, remedies, honey, tender grass, vigor, strength, milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey as oblations. Let the Hotar worship Tanūnapāt, Sarasvatī, the bright ram, with remedies that bring strength for the Aśvins and Indra, with jujube fruits and upavākā herbs, milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let Narāśaṃsa, the naked lord, be worshiped with surā, remedies, the ram, Sarasvatī the healer, the chariot of the Aśvins, the flesh of Indra, jujube fruits, upavākā herbs, milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let Iḍā, Sarasvatī, and Indra be worshiped with the bull’s power, for the Aśvins and Indra, with remedies, barley, karkandhu fruits, honey, roasted grains, milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let the sacred grass, the wool-bearing healer, the Aśvins, the horse, the healer cow, Sarasvatī the healer, milking remedies for Indra, be worshiped with milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let the distant directions, the swift ones, the Aśvins, Indra, the two worlds, the milking cow, Sarasvatī, be worshiped with remedies, brightness, strength, milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let the beautiful night and day, the Aśvins, the radiance of Sarasvatī, and Indra be worshiped with remedies, like the eagle soaring in the sky, with splendor, milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let the divine Hotars, the Aśvins and Indra, vigilant by day and night, Sarasvatī the healer, milking strength, be worshiped with milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let the three goddesses—Bhāratī, Iḍā, Sarasvatī—be worshiped with remedies, the threefold offerings, the golden form in Indra, for the Aśvins and Iḍā, Bhāratī with speech, Sarasvatī, milking greatness for Indra, with strength, milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let Surera, the bull, the noble offering, Tvaṣṭar, Indra, the Aśvins, Sarasvatī, the wolf with force, the healer with glory, be worshiped with surā, remedies, splendor, milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let the lord of the forest, the pacifier, Śatakratu, the mighty wrath, the king, the tiger, the fierce Sarasvatī the healer, milking strength for Indra, be worshiped with milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let Agni be worshiped with the oblation of clarified butter, the young ones with the oblation of fat, the goat for the Aśvins, the ram for Sarasvatī, the bull for Indra, the lion for strength, Agni with remedies, Soma for strength, Indra the strong, Savitā, Varuṇa the lord of remedies, the forest lord, the beloved waters with remedies, and all the gods accepting clarified butter, with milk, Soma, clarified butter, and honey. Let the Aśvins be worshiped with the flesh of the goat and fat; let Sarasvatī be worshiped with the flesh of the ram and fat; let Indra be worshiped with the flesh of the bull and fat—may they accept these offerings. Let the Hotṛ invoke the Aśvins, Sarasvatī, and Indra the well-knowing; let these Somas, pressed with goats, sheep, bulls, with shoots, grains, and milk, pure and exhilarating, flow forth, bright and honeyed. May the Aśvins, Sarasvatī, and Indra the slayer of Vṛtra delight in them and drink the sweetness of Soma. Let the Hotṛ invoke the Aśvins to accept the middle portion of the goat offering, the fat raised up, kept away from haters, separated from what is handled by men, placed in clarified butter of the first-pressed grains, praised by the hundred Rudras, those who tasted the fire, those who made rich offerings, from the side, hip, white fat, upper part, and each limb as it is cut—may the Aśvins be pleased. Let the Hotṛ invoke Sarasvatī to accept the middle portion of the sheep offering, the fat, set apart and purified, placed in clarified butter, praised by the hundred Rudras, those who tasted fire, those who made rich offerings, from every part—may Sarasvatī be pleased. Let the Hotṛ invoke Indra to accept the middle portion of the bull offering, the fat raised up and purified, placed in clarified butter, praised by the hundred Rudras, those who tasted fire, those who made rich offerings, from every part—may Indra be pleased. Thus, with reverence, the offerings are made, the deities are invoked, and the well-being, vitality, strength, and prosperity of all are sought in the sacred rite.
