अ पवमान धिया हितो ऽभि योनिं कनिक्रदत् च् धर्मणा वायुमारुहः
O purified one, set in motion by thought, roaring, you approach your womb, ascending to Vāyu by your own law.
अ तवाहं सोम रारण सख्य इन्दो दिवेदिवे च् पुरूणि बभ्रो नि चरन्ति मामव परिधीं रति तांइहि
For your friendship, O Soma, O tawny Indu, I seek your favor day by day; many delights come to me—bring me that circle of joy.
अ तवाहं नक्तमुत सोम ते दिवा दुहानो बभ्र ऊधनि च् घृणा तपन्तमति सूर्यं परः शकुना इव पप्तिम
For you, O Soma, I come by night and by day to your stream, O tawny one; with longing I soar beyond the burning sun, like a bird.
अ पुनानो अक्रमीदभि विश्वा मृधो विचर्षणिः च् शुम्भन्ति विप्रं धीतिभिः
Purifying himself, he has stepped forth, the wise one, overcoming all hostilities; with their thoughts, the inspired ones adorn him.
अ आ योनिमरुणो रुहद्गमदिन्द्रं वृषा सुतम् च् ध्रुवे सदसि सीदतु
The reddish one mounts the womb, the strong one comes to Indra, pressed; let him sit in the firm seat.
अ नू नो रयिं महामिन्दो ऽस्मभ्यं सोम विश्वतः च् आ पवस्व सहस्रिणम्
Now, O Soma, pour out for us great wealth from every side; flow forth, bringing thousands.
अ पिबा सोममिन्द्र मदन्तु त्वा यं ते सुषाव हर्यश्वाद्रिः च् सोतुर्बाहुभ्यां सुयतो नार्वा
Drink the Soma, O Indra; let it exhilarate you, which the stone has pressed for you, O swift-bayed one, skillfully led by the presser's arms.
अ यस्ते मदो युज्यश्चारुरस्ति येन वृत्राणि हर्यश्व हंसि च् स त्वामिन्द्र प्रभूवसो ममत्तु
That exhilaration of yours, yoked and lovely, by which you, O swift-bayed Indra, have slain the Vṛtras—may that, O mighty one, delight you.
अ बोधा सु मे मघवन्वाचमेमां यां ते वसिष्ठो अर्चति प्रशस्तिम् च् इमा ब्रह्म सधमादे जुषस्व
Hear well, O bountiful one, this praise of mine, which Vasiṣṭha offers to you; accept these hymns at the shared feast.
अ विश्वाः पृतना अभिभूतरं नरः सजूस्ततक्षुरिन्द्रं जजनुश्च राजसे च् क्रत्वे वरे स्थेमन्यामुरीमुतोग्रमोजिष्ठं तरसं तरस्विनम्
All the hosts of men, together with their companions, have fashioned Indra for kingship; for strength, for the best station, for wide might, the fierce, most powerful, swift with force.
अ नेमिं नमन्ति चक्षसा मेषं विप्रा अभिस्वरे च् सुदीतयो वो अद्रुहो ऽपि कर्णे तरस्विनः समृक्वभिः
The wise ones bow the rim with their gaze, intoning the chant; your blameless, shining ones, O vigorous one, with their ears, join in the song.
अ समु रेभसो अस्वरन्निन्द्रं सोमस्य पीतये च् स्वःपतिर्यदी वृधे धृतव्रतो ह्योजसा समूतिभिः
Together the singers have called Indra to drink the Soma, when the lord of good things, steadfast in his vow, grows strong with his bands, with might.
अ यो राजा चर्षणीनां याता रथेभिरध्रिगुः च् विश्वासां तरुता पृतनानां ज्येष्ठं यो वृत्रहा गृणे
He who is king of peoples, rider on chariots, unwearied, destroyer of all hosts, the foremost, the slayer of Vṛtra—I praise him.
अ इन्द्रं तं शुम्भ्य पुरुहन्मन्नवसे यस्य द्विता विधर्त्तरि च् हस्तेन वज्रः प्रति धायि दर्शतो महां देवो न सूर्यः
Glorify that Indra, rich in gifts for help, in whose hand the bolt is set by the wise ordainer; the great god, visible like the sun.
अ परि प्रिया दिवः कविर्वयांसि नप्त्योर्हितः च् स्वानैर्याति कविक्रतुः
The dear poet of heaven, set in the paths of the offspring, moves with his own sounds, possessing the wisdom of poets.
अ स सूनुर्मातरा शुचिर्जातो जाते अरोचयत् च् महान्मही ऋतावृधा
He, the pure son, was born from his mothers, shining at birth, great and mighty, grown by the cosmic order.
अ प्रप्र क्षयाय पन्यसे जनाय जुष्टो अद्रुहः च् वीत्यर्ष पनिष्टये
You, unwearied, are poured out for the undiminished, blameless people, O invigorating one, for their increase.
अ त्वं ह्यांङ्ग दैव्या पवमान जनिमानि द्युमत्तमः च् अमृतत्वाय घोषयन्
Indeed, O Pavamana, you are the most radiant among the divine births, proclaiming immortality.
अ येना नवग्वो दध्यङ्ङपोर्णुते येन विप्रास आपिरे च् देवानां सुम्ने अमृतस्य चारुणो येन श्रवांस्याशत
By whom the Navagvas and Dadhyanc were filled, by whom the inspired ones attained, by whom the gods' favor and the lovely nectar were gained, by whom fame was acquired.
अ सोमः पुनान ऊर्मिणाव्यं वारं वि धावति च् अग्रे वाचः पवमानः कनिक्रदत्
Soma, purified, rushes through the filter with his wave, and at the forefront, Pavamana, roaring, utters his voice.
अ धीभिर्मृजन्ति वाजिनं वने क्रीडन्तमत्यविम् च् अभि त्रिपृष्ठं मतयः समस्वरन्
With prayers they cleanse the vigorous one in the wood, playing like swift horses; the hymns resound together around the triple-backed one.
अ असर्जि कलशां अभि मीढ्वान्त्सप्तिर्न वाजयुः च् पुनानो वाचं जनयन्नसिष्यदत्
He has flowed around the vessels, the generous one, like a charioteer eager for prize; purified, he generated speech and sent it forth.
अ सोमः पवते जनिता मतीनां जनिता दिवो जनिता पृथिव्याः च् जनिताग्नेर्जनिता सूर्यस्य जनितेन्द्रस्य जनितोत विष्णोः
Soma, purified, is the creator of thoughts, the creator of heaven, the creator of earth, the creator of Agni, the creator of the Sun, the creator of Indra, and also the creator of Vishnu.
अ ब्रह्मा देवानां पदवीः कवीनां ऋषिर्विप्राणां महिषोमृगाणाम् च् श्येनो गृध्राणां स्वधितिर्वनानां सोमः पवित्रमत्येति रेभन्
The priest among the gods, the path of the sages, the seer of the inspired, the bull among wild beasts, the eagle among vultures, the sustainer of forests—Soma, roaring, passes through the filter.
अ प्रावीविपद्वाच ऊर्मिं न सिन्धुर्गिर स्तोमान्पवमानो मनीषाः च् अन्तः पश्यन्वृजनेमावराण्या तिष्ठति वृषभो गोषु जानन्
He has advanced with speech, like a wave, like a river, with hymns and thoughts, O Pavamana; seeing within, he stands among the cows, the bull, knowing the lower places.
अ अग्निं वो वृधन्तमध्वराणां पुरूतमम् च् अच्छा नप्त्रे सहस्वते
To Agni, the increaser of sacrifices, most bountiful, we direct our thoughts, to the descendant of strength.
अ अयं यथा न आभुवत्त्वष्टा रूपेव तक्ष्या च् अस्य क्रत्वा यशस्वतः
As Tvashtar has shaped this one, as a craftsman fashions forms, so by his will is the glory of the renowned one.
अ अयं विश्वा अभि श्रियो ऽग्निर्देवेषु पत्यते च् आ वाजैरुप नो गमत्
This Agni, lord among the gods, surpasses all splendors; may he come to us with prizes.
अ इममिन्द्र सुतं पिब ज्येष्ठममर्त्यं मदम् च् शुक्रस्य त्वाभ्यक्षरन्धारा ऋतस्य सादने
Drink this pressed Soma, O Indra, the greatest, immortal exhilaration; the bright streams have flowed to you in the seat of truth.
अ न किष्ट्वद्रथीतरो हरी यदिन्द्र यच्छसे च् न किष्ट्वानु मज्मना न किः स्वश्व आनशे
No charioteers surpass you, O Indra, when you harness your bays; none by their path, none by their own horses can reach you.
