We invoke Soma, the king, Varuṇa, Agni, Āditya, Viṣṇu, Sūrya, Brahmā, and Bṛhaspati.
From here, they ascend, rising to the heights of heaven; they advance forth, victorious, as the Angirases once journeyed along the path of light.
For wealth, O Agni, for greatness, we kindle you for giving; for you are indeed to be praised, O mighty one—heaven and earth serve as your priests.
Whatever the wise one declared here as 'Brahman,' that indeed encircles all works of wisdom, like the rim forms the wheel.
O Agni, with your force, hear us from every side; subdue the strength and cunning of the sorcerer and the demon.
Here, O Agni, worship the Vasus, the Rudras, and the Ādityas; offer to the righteous people, to humankind, those who are sprinkled with ghee.
The second, the first half—truly, I will speak as one devoted to you; O Agni, who is your enemy? Like a dart, I come to the refuge of your greatness.
Bring forth the ancient word to the priest, to Agni, the great one of the Bhṛgus, who bears the lights of wisdom, the wise one.

O Agni, lord of strength and wealth, of power and vigor, grant us, O Jātavedas, great renown.
O Agni, most fit for sacrifice, worship the gods for the worshipper; as the glad priest, you shine forth, dispelling obstacles.
Born of seven mothers, he sought wisdom for glory; this one, steadfast, perceives the riches.
May that thought come to us by day, as Aditi’s favor, bringing peace and happiness, driving away obstacles.
Be praised upon the earth; sacrifice to Jātavedas, whose moving smoke is not seized, whose flame is ungrasped.
By his magic, no mortal enemy can rule over the one who has given to Agni for the offering.
Drive away that sinner, enemy, thief, O Agni, far from here; O lord of the good, make his path easy.
Hear, O Agni, my new hymn, O hero, lord of the people; with your heat, burn away the sorcerers and demons.
Sing to the most exalted, to the great, to the upholder of truth, to Agni of brilliant flame, who is praised by all.
He, O Agni, with your help and heroic powers, surpasses others by deeds of strength, whose friendship you have embraced.
With their song, the gods have established him, the golden one, the immortal god, as the carrier of offerings among the gods.
Do not turn away from us, O Agni, our guest and benefactor, praised by many, who is a good sacrificer and performs the rite well.
May Agni, when invoked, be auspicious for us; may the gift be auspicious, O fortunate one; may the sacrifice be auspicious, and may the praises also be auspicious.
We choose you, the most worthy of sacrifice, the god among gods, the immortal priest, wise in this sacrifice.
O Agni, bring us that glory by which you overcome every hostile intent in the assembly, and the anger of the people.
Whenever the lord of the people, well-pleased, sharp, protects the people, then Agni repels all the demons.
Thus is the Agni portion; now the Indra portion: Sing together at the pressing of the Soma for the much-invoked, for strength, for blessing, as for the cow, for the one who gives milk.
O Indra, wielder of a hundred powers, that most exhilarating draught of yours—may I be gladdened again and again by that exhilaration.
The cows have come to the watering place, great with the sap of sacrifice, both ears adorned with gold.
Sing for the swift horse, for the well-known stall, for the cow, for the abode of Indra.
We urge that Indra to battle, to slay the great foe; may he be the mighty bull among bulls.
You, Indra, have taken strength from strength, you are born of might; you, being a bull, are ever a bull.
