अ विघ्नन्तो दुरिता पुरु सुगा तोकाय वाजिनः च् त्मना कृण्वन्तो अर्वतः
Driving away many evils, O vigorous one, you make easy paths for offspring, shaping the horses by your own power.
अ कृण्वन्तो वरिवो गवे ऽभ्यर्षन्ति सुष्टुतिम् च् इडामस्मभ्यं संयतम्
Making wide the path for the cow, they seek out abundant praise; may the offering be united for us.
अ राजा मेधाभिरीयते पवमानो मनावधि च् अन्तरिक्षेण यातवे
The king, endowed with wisdom, proceeds purified up to the limits of thought, journeying through the midspace.
अ आ नः सोम सहो जुवो रूपं न वर्चसे भर च् सुष्वाणो देववीतये
Come to us, Soma, bring strength and youthful vigor, bestow beauty and brilliance, well-pressed for divine favor.
अ आ न इन्दो शतग्विनं गवां पोषं स्वश्व्यम् च् वहा भगत्तिमूतये
Come, O Indu, bring us the wealth of a hundred cows, nourishment of cattle, and fine horses, bearing good fortune for our delight.
अ तं त्वा नृम्णानि बिभ्रतं सधस्थेषु महो दिवः च् चारुं सुकृत्ययेमहे
You, bearing manly powers, dwelling in the great abodes of heaven, we seek as lovely through your good deeds.
अ संवृक्तधृष्णुमुक्थ्यं महामहिव्रतं मदम् च् शतं पुरो रुरुक्षणिम्
With collected strength and hymns, with mighty vows and exhilaration, you have shattered a hundred strongholds.
अ अतस्त्वा रयिरभ्ययद्राजानं सुक्रतो दिवः च् सुपर्णो अव्यथी भरत्
Then the treasure approached you, the king of heaven, O skillful one; the unwearied, splendid-winged one brings it.
अ अधा हिन्वान इन्द्रियं ज्यायो महित्वमानशे च् अभिष्टिकृद्विचर्षणिः
Thus, stirring up your power, you attain greater greatness, O renowned among men, bestower of abundance.
अ विश्वस्मा इत्स्वर्दृशे साधारणं रजस्तुरम् च् गोपामृतस्य विर्भरत्
For the seer of all, he bears the common realm, swift as the wind, the guardian of the cow, the bringer of the nectar.
अ इषे पवस्व धारया मृज्यमानो मनीषिभिः च् इन्दो रुचाभि गा इहि
Purify yourself for sustenance, O Indu, cleansed by the wise; come with your radiance to the cows.
अ पुनानो वरिवस्कृध्यूर्जं जनाय गिर्वणः च् हरे सृजान आशिरम्
Purifying, you make the path wide, O singer, generating strength for the people; O tawny one, pour forth the swift stream.
अ पुनानो देववीतय इन्द्रस्य याहि निष्कृतम् च् द्युतानो वाजिभिर्हितः
Purifying for divine favor, go forth, O Indu, on Indra's path, shining, yoked with the steeds.
अ अग्निनाग्निः समिध्यते कविर्गृहपतिर्युवा च् हव्यवाड्जुह्वास्यः
By Agni, Agni is kindled, the sage, the youthful lord of the house, the carrier of offerings, with the ladle in his mouth.
अ यस्त्वामग्ने हविष्पतिर्दूतं देव सपर्यति च् तस्य स्म प्राविता भव
Whoever, O Agni, with offerings, worships you as the divine messenger, be his protector indeed.
अ यो अग्निं देववीतये हविष्मां आविवासति च् तस्मै पावक मृडय
Whoever, with offerings, invokes Agni for divine favor, to him, O pure one, grant happiness.
अ मित्रं हुवे पूतदक्षं वरुणं च रिशादसम् च् धियं घृताचीं साधन्ता
I invoke Mitra, pure in skill, and Varuṇa, the destroyer of foes, and the radiant insight that brings success.
अ ऋतेन मित्रावरुणावृतावृधावृतस्पृशा च् क्रतुं बृहन्तमाशाथे
By truth, Mitra and Varuṇa, who grow through truth and touch truth, have attained vast power.
अ कवी नो मित्रावरुणा तुविजाता उरुक्षया च् दक्षं दधाते अपसम्
Mitra and Varuṇa, wise and of mighty birth, dwelling in spacious abodes, grant us skill and remove hostility.
अ इन्द्रेण सं हि दृक्षसे संजग्मानो अबिभ्युषा च् मन्दू समानवर्च्चसा
With Indra you are seen together, coming united, unafraid, both shining with equal brilliance.
अ आदह स्वधामनु पुनर्गर्भत्वमेरिरे च् दधाना नाम यज्ञियम्
They have entered again into the womb according to their own law, bearing the sacred name, worthy of sacrifice.
अ वीडु चिदारुजत्नुभिर्गुहा चिदिन्द्र वह्निभिः च् अविन्द उस्रिया अनु
Even the hidden one you, Indra, have found with your fires, breaking open the enclosure, following the cows.
अ ता हुवे ययोरिदं पप्ने विश्वं पुरा कृतम् च् इन्द्राग्नी न
I invoke those two by whom all this was accomplished of old—Indra and Agni.
अ उग्रा विघनिना मृध इन्द्राग्नी हवामहे च् ता नो मृडात ईदृशे
We call Indra and Agni, fierce, destroyers of obstacles; may they grant us favor in this way.
अ हथो वृत्राण्यार्या हथो दासानि सत्पती च् हथो विश्वा अप द्विषः
You strike down the hostile Vṛtras, you strike down the Dasyus, O true lords; you strike down all enemies.
अ अभि सोमास आयवः पवन्ते मद्यं मदम् च् समुद्रस्याधि विष्टपे मनीषिणो मत्सरासो मदच्युतः
The pressed, exhilarating Somas flow forth, wise ones, brimming with delight, upon the ocean's surface, eager, overflowing with ecstasy.
अ तरत्समुद्रं पवमान ऊर्मिणा राजा देव ऋतं बृहत् च् अर्षा मित्रस्य वरुणस्य धर्मणा प्र हिन्वान ऋतं बृहत्
Purifying, you cross the ocean with your wave, O king, O god, great in truth; flow on by the ordinance of Mitra and Varuṇa, impelling the great truth.
अ नृभिर्येमाणो हर्यतो विचक्षणो राजा देवः समुद्र्यः
The king, the god of the ocean, adorned by men, splendid, discerning, is manifest.
अ तिस्रो वाच ईरयति प्र वह्निरृतस्य धीतिं ब्रह्मणो मनीषाम् च् गावो यन्ति गोपतिं पृच्छमानाः सोमं यन्ति मतयो वावशानाः
He utters three voices: the fire sends forth the inspiration of truth, the wisdom of the priest; the cows go to their lord, inquiring, and the thoughts, longing, go to Soma.
अ सोमं गावो धेनवो वावशानाः सोमं विप्रा मतिभिः पृच्छमानाः च् सोमः सुत ऋच्यते पूयमानः सोमे अर्कास्त्रिष्टुभः सं नवन्ते
The cows, the milch-kine, longing, go to Soma; the wise, with their thoughts, inquire after Soma; Soma, pressed and purified, is praised; to Soma the hymns, the triṣṭubh verses, are joined.
