अ तं त्वा समिद्भिरङ्गिरो घृतेन च् बृहच्छोचा यविष्ठ्य
You, whom the Angiras kindle with kindling sticks and with ghee, O youngest, of great radiance.
अ स नः पृथु श्रवाय्यमच्छा देव विवाससि च् बृहदग्ने सुवीर्यम्
O god, you bring to us wide renown; O great Agni, splendid heroism.
विश्वामित्रो गाथिनः जमदग्निर्वा, गायत्री, मित्रावरुणौ. अ आ नो मित्रावरुणा घृतैर्गव्यूतिमुक्षतम् च् मध्वा रजांसि सुक्रतू
Viśvāmitra, son of Gāthin, or Jamadagni. Gāyatrī. Mitra and Varuṇa. O Mitra and Varuṇa, pour out for us, with clarified butter, the abundance of cows; with honey, O wise ones, the realms.
अ उरुशंसा नमोवृधा मह्ना दक्षस्य राजथः च् द्राघिष्ठाभिः शुचिव्रता
Wide-famed, strengthened by homage, by your greatness you rule over skill; with the longest, purest vows.
अ गृणाना जमदग्निना योनावृतस्य सीदतम् च् पातं सोममृतावृधा
Praising with Jamadagni, sit in the womb of truth; drink the Soma, grown by truth.
इरीम्बिठिः काण्वः. गायत्री. इन्द्रः. अ आ याहि सुषुमा हि त इन्द्र सोमं पिबा इमम् च् एदं बर्हिः सदो मम
Irīmbiṭhi, son of Kāṇva. Gāyatrī. Indra. Come hither, delighted, O Indra, drink this Soma; this sacred grass is my seat.
अ आ त्वा ब्रह्मयुजा हरी वहतामिन्द्र केशिना च् उप ब्रह्माणि नः शृणु
O Indra, may your two tawny steeds yoked with the power of prayer bring you here; listen to our prayers.
अ ब्रह्माणस्त्वा युजा वयं सोमपामिन्द्र सोमिनः च् सुतावन्तो हवामहे
O Indra, drinker of Soma, we, the Soma-offerers, call upon you with the power of prayer when the Soma is pressed.
विश्वामित्रो गाथिनः. गायत्री. इन्द्राग्नी. अ इन्द्राग्नी आ गतं सुतं गीर्भिर्नभो वरेण्यम् च् अस्य पातं धियेषिता
O Indra and Agni, come here with words to the pressed Soma, most excellent in the sky; protect this offering, inspired by thought.
अ इन्द्राग्नी जरितुः सचा यज्ञो जिगाति चेतनः च् अया पातमिमं सुतम्
O Indra and Agni, together with the singer, the conscious sacrifice advances; with this Soma, protect us.
अ इन्द्रमग्निं कविच्छदा यज्ञस्य जूत्या वृणे च् ता सोमस्येह तृम्पताम्
I choose Indra and Agni, covered with wisdom, with the favor of the sacrifice; may they here enjoy this Soma.
अमहीयुराङ्गिरसः. गायत्री. पवमानः सोमः. अ उच्चा ते जातमन्धसो दिवि सद्भूम्या ददे च् उग्रं शर्म महि श्रवः
The Angirases have grown mighty. Soma, the purifier, has placed your exhilarating birth high in heaven and on earth; grant us strong protection and great renown.
अ स न इन्द्राय यज्यवे वरुणाय मरुद्भ्यः च् वरिवोवित्परि स्रव
For Indra, worthy of sacrifice, for Varuna, for the Maruts, let the stream flow forth, granting wide space.
अ एना विश्वान्यर्य आ द्युम्नानि मानुषाणाम् च् सिषासन्तो वनामहे
With this, desiring to win all the glories of men, we strive to conquer.
अ पुनानः सोम धारयापो वसानो अर्षसि च् आ रत्नधा योनिमृतस्य सीदस्युत्सो देवो हिरण्ययः
Purifying Soma, flowing with strength, you move clothed in waters; sit in the treasure-holding womb of truth, O divine golden fountain.
अ दुहान ऊधर्दिव्यं मधु प्रियं प्रत्नं सधस्थमासदत् च् आपृच्छ्यं धरुणं वाज्यर्षसि नृभिर्धौतो विचक्षणः
Milking the heavenly udder, you have approached the ancient, beloved seat of sweetness; you flow to the inviting support, purified by men, wise one, seeking strength.
अ प्र तु द्रव परि कोशं नि षीद नृभिः पुनानो अभि वाजमर्ष च् अश्वं न त्वा वाजिनं मर्जयन्तो ऽच्छा बर्ही रशनाभिर्नयन्ति
Run forth, sit around the vessel with men, O purifier, attain the prize; like a horse, the swift ones cleanse you, leading you to the sacred grass with reins.
अ स्वायुधः पवते देव इन्दुरशस्तिहा वृजना रक्षमाणः च् पिता देवानां जनिता सुदक्षो विष्टम्भो दिवो धरुणः पृथिव्याः
The godly drop, armed with its own weapon, is purified, destroying curses, protecting the people; father of the gods, skillful creator, support of heaven and foundation of earth.
अ ऋषिर्विप्रः पुरएता जनानामृभुर्धीर उशना काव्येन च् स चिद्विवेद निहितं यदासामपीच्यां गुह्यं नाम गोनाम्
The seer, the inspired sage, the leader of men, the wise one, Usanas by his insight, he indeed discovered what was hidden among them, the secret name of the cows in the farthest place.
अ अभि त्वा शूर नोनुमो ऽदुग्धा इव धेनवः च् ईशानमस्य जगतः स्वर्दृशमीशानमिन्द्र तस्थुषः
We praise you, hero, like unmilked cows; O Indra, lord of the moving and the fixed, lord with the vision of light.
अ न त्वावां अन्यो दिव्यो न पार्थिवो न जातो न जनिष्यते च् अश्वायन्तो मघवन्निन्द्र वाजिनो गव्यन्तस्त्वा हवामहे
No one like you, O Indra, is born or will be born, neither celestial nor earthly; O generous Indra, we, desiring horses and cows, call upon you.
अ कया नश्चित्र आ भुवदूती सदावृधः सखा च् कया शचिष्ठया वृता
By what wondrous protection has our ever-growing friend become our messenger? By what most powerful help, chosen by you?
अ कस्त्वा सत्यो मदानां मंहिष्ठो मत्सदन्धसः च् दृढा चिदारुजे वसु
Who among your intoxicating powers is the truest, the greatest at the Soma feast? Even the firm ones you shatter, O giver of wealth.
अ अभी षु णः सखीनामविता जरित्र्^ईणाम् च् शतं भवास्यूतये
Be for us the protector of friends, of the singers; may you be a hundredfold for our aid.
अ तं वो दस्ममृतीषहं वसोर्मन्दानमन्धसः च् अभि वत्सं न स्वसरेषु धेनव इन्द्रं गीर्भिर्नवामहे
With hymns we praise that mighty, death-conquering Indra, the generous one, the delight of the Soma, as cows in their stalls call to their calf.
अ द्युक्षं सुदानुं तविषीभिरावृतं गिरिं न पुरुभोजसम् च् क्षुमन्तं वाजं शतिनं सहस्रिणं मक्षू गोमन्तमीमहे
We seek the heaven-ox, the bountiful giver, wrapped in strength, like a mountain rich in gifts, the abundant prize, full of food, a thousandfold, swiftly bringing cattle.
अ तरोभिर्वो विदद्वसुमिन्द्रं सबाध ऊतये च् बृहद्गायन्तः सुतसोमे अध्वरे हुवे भरं न कारिणम्
With your praises, call Indra, the giver of wealth, for help in battle; singing loudly at the Soma-pressing, I invoke the generous one, like a worker calls for wages.
अ न यं दुध्रा वरन्ते न स्थिरा मुरो मदेषु शिप्रमन्धसः च् य आदृत्या शशमानाय सुन्वते दाता जरित्र उक्थ्यम्
No greedy or weak enemy can withstand the swift, exhilarating Indra, who, with favor, gives worthy gifts to the singer who presses Soma.
अ स्वादिष्ठया मदिष्ठया पवस्व सोम धारया च् इन्द्राय पातवे सुतः
Flow, Soma, with sweetest, most delightful stream, pressed for Indra to drink.
अ रक्षोहा विश्वचर्षणिरभि योनिमयोहते च् द्रोणे सधस्थमासदत्
The slayer of demons, the protector of all people, has entered his seat; he has settled in the vessel, his place of rest.
