इन्दुः पविष्ट चेतनः प्रियः कवीनां मतिः सृजदश्वं रथीरिव
The drop, entering the filter, conscious, dear to the poets, sends forth thought like a charioteer his horse.
असृक्षत प्र वाजिनो गव्या सोमासो अश्वया शुक्रासो वीरयाशवः
The swift, cattle-winning Somas, horse-winning, bright, strong, have flowed forth, eager for heroism.
पवस्व देव आयुषगिन्द्रं गच्छतु ते मदः वायुमा रोह धर्मणा
Flow, O god, for long life; may your exhilaration reach Indra; ascend to Vāyu by the right path.
पवमानो अजीजनद्दिवश्चित्रं न तन्यतुम् ज्योतिर्वैश्वानरं बृहत्
The purified one has generated the wondrous heaven, like thunder; the great universal light.
परि स्वानास इन्दवो मदाय बर्हणा गिरा मधो अर्षन्ति धारया
The resounding drops, for exhilaration, with their splendor, with the voice of sweetness, stream forth with their flow.
परि प्रासिष्यदत्कविः सिन्धोरूर्मावधि श्रितः कारुं बिभ्रत्पुरुस्पृहम्
The sage has sent forth the waves of the river, having taken his place; bearing the poet, desiring much, he holds fast.
षष्ठ प्रथमो ऽर्धः उपो षु जातमप्तुरं गोभिर्भङ्गं परिष्कृतम् इन्दुं देवा अयासिषुः
The gods have sought the Soma, born at dawn, purified by the cows, filtered and adorned, the first portion of the sixth pressing.
पुनानो अक्रमीदभि विश्वा मृधो विचर्षणिः शुम्भन्ति विप्रं धीतिभिः
Purifying himself, the wise one advanced beyond all hostilities; they glorify the inspired sage with their hymns.
आविशन्कलशं सुतो विश्वा अर्षन्नभि श्रियः इन्दुरिन्द्राय धीयते
The pressed Soma enters the vessel, flowing with all glories; Soma is offered to Indra with devotion.
असर्जि रथ्यो यथा पवित्रे चम्वोः सुतः कार्ष्मन्वाजी न्यक्रमीत्
Like a charioteer, the pressed Soma was set in motion in the filter of the pressing stones, advancing swiftly like a steed.
प्र यद्गावो न भूर्णयस्त्वेषा अयासो अक्रमुः घ्नन्तः कृष्णामप त्वचम्
Just as eager, powerful cows rush forth, so the swift streams surged, striking away the black skin.
अपघ्नन्पवसे मृधः क्रतुवित्सोम मत्सरः नुदस्वादेवयुं जनम्
Soma, wise and exhilarating, you flow, driving away hostilities; repel those who are not devoted to the gods.
अया पवस्व धारया यया सूर्यमरोचयः हिन्वानो मानुषीरपः
Flow forth with that stream by which you made the sun shine, setting the human waters in motion.
स पवस्व य आविथेन्द्रं वृत्राय हन्तवे वव्रिवांसं महीरपः
Flow forth, you who have aided Indra to slay Vṛtra, you who have released the mighty waters.
अया वीती परि स्रव यस्त इन्दो मदेष्वा अवाहन्नवतीर्नव
With this stream, O Soma, flow around, you who bring delight in the pressings, bringing the ninefold draughts.
परि द्युक्षं सनद्रायिं भरद्वाजं नो अन्धसा स्वानो अर्ष पवित्र आ
Flow around the radiant, wealth-bringing Bharadvāja with your juice, O resounding one, through the filter.
अचिक्रदद्वृषा हरिर्महान्मित्रो न दर्शतः सं सूर्येण दिद्युते
The mighty, roaring, tawny one has bellowed, great and wondrous like Mitra, shining together with the sun.
आ ते दक्षं मयोभुवं वह्निमद्या वृणीमहे पान्तमा पुरुस्पृहम्
To you, bringer of joy, we choose the fire, the wisdom, the protection, O guardian who is sought by many.
अध्वर्यो अद्रिभिः सुतं सोमं पवित्र आ नय पुनीहीन्द्राय पातवे
O Adhvaryu, lead the pressed Soma with the stones through the filter; purify it for Indra to drink.
तरत्स मन्दी धावति धारा सुतस्यान्धसः तरत्स मन्दी धावति
The exhilarating stream of the pressed Soma rushes forth, surging with delight; the exhilarating stream rushes forth.
आ पवस्व सहस्रिणं रयिं सोम सुवीर्यम् अस्मे श्रवांसि धारय
O Soma, flow for us a thousandfold wealth, heroic power; establish fame for us with your stream.
अनु प्रत्नास आयवः पदं नवीयो अक्रमुः रुचे जनन्त सूर्यम्
The ancient paths have been traversed anew; with their radiance, they have produced the sun.
अर्षा सोम द्युमत्तमो ऽभि द्रोणानि रोरुवत् सीदन्योनौ योनेष्वा
Flow, Soma, most radiant, resounding through the vessels; settle in the two seats, in the wombs.
वृषा सोम द्युमां असि वृषा देव वृषव्रतः वृषा धर्माणि दध्रिषे
You are mighty, Soma, radiant; you are mighty, god of steadfast vow; you have upheld the mighty laws.
इषे पवस्व धारया मृज्यमानो मनीषिभिः इन्दो रुचाभि गा इहि
Flow forth, O Soma, with your stream for strength, being purified by the wise; O Indu, come with your shining rays, come to the cows.
मन्द्रया सोम धारया वृषा पवस्व देवयुः अव्यो वारेभिरस्मयुः
With a delightful stream, O Soma, flow forth as a bull, worthy of the gods; unassailable, with coverings, ever youthful.
अया सोम सुकृत्यपा हिन्दान इद्वृषायसे
With this good deed, O Soma, the pressing stone has made you, O bull, fit for the hero.
अयं विचर्षणिर्हितः पवमानः स चेतति हिन्वान आप्यं बृहत्
This Pavamana, set in motion, the wise one, stirs himself; flowing, he seeks the great, primeval place.
प्र ण इन्दो महे तु न ऊर्मिं न बिभ्रदर्षसि अभि देवां अयास्यः
O Indu, for us, flow forth for greatness; you bear the wave, you do not fail, you approach the gods, O swift one.
अपघ्नन्पवते मृधो ऽप सोमो अराव्णः गच्छन्निन्द्रस्य निष्कृतम्
Soma flows, driving away foes, repelling the hostile, going to Indra’s chosen place.
