Indra and Agni, the foot came from the ancient footed ones; having cast off the head, it seized with the tongue; in thirty steps it advanced by night.
Indra, come nearer, approach with friendly thoughts and aids. With blessings, with most auspicious blessings, with your own powers, come with your own powers.
From here, may your aid be ageless, the foremost leader, unopposed, swift conqueror, impeller, charioteer, unwearied, increaser of strength for Tugra.
Let not your worshippers or others turn away from us; whether from afar or from the assembly, do not withdraw. Come here, listen to us if you are near.
Press Soma for the drinker of Soma, for Indra, the wielder of the thunderbolt. Cook the offerings for help; make ready the food, filling with delight, filling with joy.
He who is the universal helper, the wise, Indra—we call upon him. O thousand-powered, of mighty strength, lord of the good, be our strength in battles.
With your powers, grant us, day and night, the best directions. May your favor never fail us; may our lack of favor never come, not at any time.
Whenever the mortal singer grows old for the gracious one, then let him praise Varuṇa with wise speech, the upholder of those who have turned away.
Protect the cows and the exhilarating drink, O Indra, guest at the sacred feast, who is united with the two bays, golden Indra, wielder of the thunderbolt, golden one.
Indra, listen to both our words, come near to this speech; the generous one, eager for Soma, let the most mighty come with wisdom to the pressing.
For you, O stone-splitter, nothing is given away for a distant price, not for a thousand, not for ten thousand, O thunderer, not for a hundred, O bestower of hundreds.
You are the wealth, Indra, of my father and also of my brother who partakes; my mother too you shelter, O treasure-lord, for the sake of wealth and favor.
The fourth, the first portion, these pressed Somas are for Indra, with curds and clarified butter; come for that exhilaration, O thunder-handed, to drink with your two bays, come to the home.
These Somas, O Indra, are for your exhilaration, famous and praised; having drunk the sweetness, hear our songs, accept the praise, O singer-loving one.
Today I call to you, O Indra, the ever-yielding cow, the Gayatri-metered, the well-yielding, abundant in nourishment, adorned, for food.
No great rocks, O Indra, can restrain you in your might; whatever you desire for the praiser, no withholder can diminish your wealth.
Who knows with what pressed Soma he drinks, whom the wise one has set, who, delighting, shatters the forts with his might, the sharp one, with exhilarating drink?
O Indra, shake off lawlessness from the assembly; seat our most desired Soma, O generous one, for the sake of wealth, on the sacred grass.
May Tvaṣṭṛ, the divine speech, Parjanya, and Bṛhaspati protect us; may Aditi with sons and brothers guard us, may she save us from difficult, harmful speech.
When, O Indra, will you be our companion, when will you be with the worshipper? Let the generous one come near, let your gift, O god, be sought again.
Yoke your two bays, O slayer of Vṛtra, Indra, from afar; come near, generous one, for the drinking of Soma, mighty one, come with the singers.
Today these men have filled you, O thunderer, with their offerings; O Indra, bearer of praise, listen here, come to your own sister with favor.
Now she has appeared, the dawn, the shining daughter of heaven; she chooses the great waters with her sight, the fair one makes darkness into light.
These dawns in heaven call to you, O Aśvins; I too call you for help, lords of power, for you go from clan to clan.
Who, O Aśvins, is heated, which god or mortal, whom you two strike with your might, or who, guided by you, passes the night unharmed?
This, your sweetest Soma, pressed among the dawns, O Aśvins, drink it beyond the day, bestow treasures on the worshipper.
Now I, ever seeking, implore you for the draught of Soma—like a bowstring for the arrow, or a beast for the hunt, you have not failed in the offerings; who would not seek the Lord’s favor?
O Adhvaryu, press out the Soma, for Indra thirsts; now indeed the mighty one has yoked his two bay steeds and the slayer of Vṛtra has come near.
You have always been the stronger, Indra, among the lesser; O generous one, you have become renowned in every contest, and in every battle you are worthy of the offering.
As far as you, Indra, have power, so far may I have mastery; you bestow favor on the singer—granting wealth, never misfortune.
