Those most honeyed songs, those hymns, rise up like victorious, ever-flowing chariots, bringing wealth, for the one who wins the prize.
As a thirsty bull seeks out water, so come to us, O Indra, for our friendship and for our ancestors—join the Kanvas, drink with us.
O Indra, Lord of Strength, with all your aids, may we move with you, O renowned one, as with Bhaga, you who know the wealth.
O Indra, bring us the might that conquers foes, O Maghavan, for the singer and for those who offer with sacred grass to you, the radiant one.
Sing forth a worthy hymn to Mitra, to the noble Aryaman, to Varuna of steadfast laws, and to the royal ones, a song of praise among kings.
To you, Indra, the ancient drinkers have sung together with hymns; the Ribhus, united, have chanted, and the Rudras praise your ancient might.
Sing forth your praise to mighty Indra, O Maruts; let your hymn resound. The slayer of Vṛtra, the one of a hundred powers, strikes down the foe with his hundred-jointed thunderbolt.
Sing loudly to great Indra, O Maruts, the most powerful slayer of Vṛtra, by whom the gods, lovers of truth, awakened the light for the god.
Indra, bring us wisdom as a father gives to his sons; teach us, O much-invoked one, so that in this dwelling we may attain living light.
O Indra, do not turn away from us; be with us at the shared feast. You are our aid, you are our refuge; O Indra, do not turn away from us.
We, the singers, sit around you, O Vṛtra-slayer, with pressed Soma, as waters around the sacred grass, at the outpourings of the purifier.
Whatever strength, O Indra, you have among the descendants of Nahusha, or manliness among peoples, or glory among the five tribes, bring that to us; may you grant all heroic powers together.
Truly, you are thus a bull; with bull's might you are our protector. Mighty one, you hear from afar, and from near, you are renowned.
Whatever you do, O Vṛtra-slayer, whether far or near, therefore, Indra, the singers call upon you with hymns, with the pressing of Soma.
Sing with voice in the intoxications to you, the heroic, the great, the wise Indra, whose name is to be heard, the generous one, as is fitting.
Indra, grant a threefold shelter, a triple protection for well-being; give cover to the generous and to me, and drive away these lightnings.
All the treasures of Indra, as if they were gazing at the sun, are to be enjoyed; born in strength, we have obtained our share as with Bhaga.
No god, no mortal, attains that wealth; not even one who lives long. Even the swiftest, even the eager, Indra alone has yoked his two bays.
May Indra be adorned with all offerings in every battle; come to the hymns and libations, O Vṛtra-slayer, with the highest praise.
Your lowest wealth is yours, Indra; you foster the middle. Altogether you rule over the highest of all; none withholds the cows from you.
Where now, and where have you gone? For your mind is indeed everywhere. You have wandered in battle, breaker of citadels, Purandara; come, let us sing the Gāyatrī for you.
We have poured out this Soma for the wielder of the thunderbolt; therefore, today at the pressing, bring forth the pressed Soma. Surely, you are adorned with fame.
He who is king of peoples, who rides in chariots, unwearied, who overcomes all hosts in battle, whom I praise as the greatest, the slayer of Vṛtra.
From whom, O Indra, we are afraid, from him make us fearless, O bountiful one. Take delight in this for your help; scatter our foes, destroy our enemies.
O Lord of the dwelling, firm pillar of the Soma rites, the drop, breaker of ancient cities, Indra is the eternal friend of the sages.
You are great, O Sun, great Aditya, you are mighty. Your greatness, being of the great, is most excellent. By your might, O god, you are great.
He who is horseman, charioteer, of beautiful form, rich in cattle—when, O Indra, your friend, sharing in strength, always joins with vigor, he approaches the assembly shining.
If, Indra, you had a hundred heavens, a hundred earths, even then, O wielder of the thunderbolt, not a thousand Suns would equal you, nor both these worlds together.
When, Indra, you are invoked to the east, west, north, or south by men, then among many peoples you are famed as the helper, you are Turvaśa's support.
Who, O Indra, among mortals, dares to challenge you, O wealthy one? For your faith, O bountiful, is established in the highest heaven. The champion seeks victory.
