सह रय्या नि वर्तस्वाग्ने पिन्वस्व धारया विश्वप्स्न्या विश्वतस्परि
Return with wealth, O Agni, prosper with abundance, with all-encompassing sustenance, spread everywhere.
यदिन्द्राहं यथा त्वमीशीय वस्व एक इत् स्तोता मे गोसखा स्यात्
If I, Indra, could rule wealth as you do, then let my praise be singular; let my friend be a giver of cows.
शिक्षेयमस्मै दित्सेयं शचीपते मनीषिणे यदहं गोपतिः स्याम्
May I learn for him, may I give to him, O lord of power, to the wise one, if I may be the master of cows.
धेनुष्ट इन्द्र सूनृता यजमानाय सुन्वते गामश्वं पिप्युषी दुहे
O Indra, the sweet-speaking cow, for the sacrificer, for the one who presses, milks out nourishing milk, cattle, and horses.
आपो हि ष्ठा मयोभुवस्ता न ऊर्जे दधातन महे रणाय चक्षसे
Waters, come here, bring delight; place strength for us, for great vision and battle.
यो वः शिवतमो रसस्तस्य भाजयतेह नः उशतीरिव मातरः
That most auspicious essence of yours, let it be shared with us here, like mothers who nourish their young.
तस्मा अरं गमाम वो यस्य क्षयाय जिन्वथ आपो जनयथा च नः
Therefore, let us approach the one for whose dwelling you strive; O waters, generate and nurture us.
वात आ वातु बेषजं शम्भु मयोभु नो हृदे प्र न अयूंषि तारिषत्
May the wind blow healing, bringing happiness and delight to us; may it carry us across to long life.
उत वात पितासि न उत भ्रातोत नः सखा स नो जीवातवे कृधि
O wind, you are our father, you are our brother, you are our friend; make us live.
यददो वात ते गृहे ऽमृतं निहितं गुहा तस्यो नो देहि जीवसे
Whatever nectar is hidden in your house, O wind, concealed in secret, grant that to us for life.
अभि वाजी विश्वरूपो जनित्रं हिरण्ययं बिभ्रदत्कं सुपर्णः सूर्यस्य भानुमृतुथा वसानः परि स्वयं मेधमृज्रो जजान
The swift, all-formed carrier, bearing the golden egg, the great bird, clothed in the rays of the sun, moves in order, and self-born, the mighty one, has generated wisdom.
अप्सु रेतः शिश्रिये विश्वरूपं तेजः पृथिव्यामधि यत्सम्बभूव अन्तरिक्षे स्वं महिमानं मिमानः कनिक्रन्ति वृष्णो अश्वस्य रेतः
In the waters the seed was placed, all-formed, the radiance that arose upon the earth; measuring his own greatness in the mid-space, he advanced, the seed of the vigorous horse.
अयं सहस्रा परि युक्ता वसानः सूर्यस्य भानुं यज्ञो दाधार सहस्रदाः शतदा भूरिदावा धर्त्ता दिवो भुवनस्य विश्पतिः
This one, adorned with a thousand, clothed in rays, the sacrifice upholds the sun's brilliance; giver of thousands, giver of hundreds, giver of much, supporter of heaven, lord of the world.
नाके सुपर्णमुप यत्पतन्तं हृदा वेनन्तो अभ्यचक्षत त्वा हिरण्यपक्षं वरुणस्य दूतं यमस्य योनौ शकुनं भुरण्युम्
In heaven, when the bird with golden wings flies up, they gaze upon it with their hearts; you, messenger of Varuna, bird of Yama's realm, the shining one.
ऊर्ध्वो गन्धर्वो अधि नाके अस्थात्प्रत्यञ्चित्रा बिभ्रदस्यायुधानि वसानो अत्कं सुरभिं दृशे कं स्वर्ण नाम जनत प्रियाणि
The Gandharva stands upright in heaven, bearing his bright weapons, clothed in fragrance for vision; he generates the golden name, beloved things.
द्रप्सः समुद्रमभि यज्जिगाति पश्यन्गृध्रस्य चक्षसा विधर्मन् भानुः शुक्रेण शोचिषा चकानस्तृतीये चक्रे रजसि प्रियाणि
The drop moves toward the ocean, seeing with the vulture's eye, fulfilling its order; the brilliance shines with pure flame, creating beloved things in the third realm.
नवम तृतीयो ऽर्धः आशुः शिशानो वृषभो न भीमो घनाघनः क्षोभणश्चर्षणीनाम् सङ्क्रन्दनो ऽनिमिष एकवीरः शतं सेना अजयत्साकमिन्द्रः
The ninth, the third part, swift, shining, like a mighty bull, terrifying, thundering, stirring men, advancing, unblinking, single hero; Indra conquered a hundred armies together.
सङ्क्रन्दनेनानिमिषेण जिष्णुना युत्कारेण दुश्च्यवनेन धृष्णुना तदिन्द्रेण जयत तत्सहध्वं युधो नर इषुहस्तेन वृष्णा
With advancing, unblinking, victorious, ready, hard-to-move, bold Indra, conquer; stand together in battle, O men, with the mighty one holding the arrow.
स इषुहस्तैः स निषङ्गिभिर्वशी संस्रष्टा स युध इन्द्रो गणेन सं सृष्टजित्सोमपा बाहुशर्ध्यूग्रधन्वा प्रतिहिताभिरस्ता
He, with those holding arrows, with those bearing quivers, the master, the leader in battle, Indra with his troop, the victorious, soma-drinker, strong-armed, fierce-bowed, strikes with his weapons.
बृहस्पते परि दीया रथेन रक्षोहामित्रां अपबाधमानः प्रभञ्जन्सेनाः प्रमृणो युधा जयन्नस्माकमेध्यविता रथानाम्
O Brihaspati, drive around with your chariot, repelling demons and enemies; break armies, crush in battle, conquering, make us the best among chariots.
बलविज्ञायः स्थविरः प्रवीरः सहस्वान्वाजी सहमान उग्रः अभिवीरो अभिसत्वा सहोजा जैत्रमिन्द्र रथमा तिष्ठ गोवित्
Wise in strength, ancient, heroic, powerful, swift, enduring, fierce, conquering, mighty, victorious, Indra, stand upon the chariot that brings victory and cattle.
गोत्रभिदं गोविदं वज्रबाहुं जयन्तमज्म प्रमृणन्तमोजसा इमं सजाता अनु वीरयध्वमिन्द्रं सखायो अनु सं रभध्वम्
Breaker of enclosures, knower of cattle, with thunderbolt arms, victorious, crushing with might; O friends, follow this Indra, your companion, join together with him.
अभि गोत्राणि सहसा गाहमानो ऽदयो वीरः शतमन्युरिन्द्रः दुश्च्यवनः पृतनाषाडयुध्यो ऽस्माकं सेना अवतु प्र युत्सु
Indra, the hero, hundred-powered, advancing with force, breaker of enclosures, hard-to-move, destroyer in battle, let our army be protected in the fight.
इन्द्र आसां नेता बृहस्पतिर्दक्षिणा यज्ञः पुर एतु सोमः देवसेनानामभिभञ्जतीनां जयन्तीनां मरुतो यन्त्वग्रम्
Indra is their leader, Brihaspati their right hand, sacrifice their fortress, Soma their front; among the divine armies, let the Maruts go at the forefront of the victorious, the conquering.
इन्द्रस्य वृष्णो वरुणस्य राज्ञ आदित्यानां मरुतां उग्रम् महामनसां भुवनच्यवानां घोषो देवानां जयतामुदस्थात्
The resounding cry of the gods—of Indra, the mighty, of Varuṇa the king, of the Ādityas, of the Maruts, fierce and great of mind, who shake the worlds—has arisen in victory.
उद्धर्षय मघवन्नायुधान्युत्सत्वनां मामकानां मनांसि उद्वृत्रहन्वाजिनां वाजिनान्युद्रथानां जयतां यन्तु घोषाः
O Maghavan, stir up the weapons, rouse the minds of my own, O slayer of Vṛtra; let the cries of the victorious horses and chariots rise up.
अस्माकमिन्द्रः समृतेषु ध्वजेष्वस्माकं या इषवस्ता जयन्तु अस्माकं वीरा उत्तरे भवन्त्वस्मां उ देवा अवता हवेषु
May Indra be with us among the gathered banners; may our arrows be victorious; may our heroes be superior; O gods, protect us in our invocations.
असौ या सेना मरुतः परेषामभ्येति न ओजसा तां गूहत तमसापव्रतेन यथैतेषामन्यो अन्यं न जानात्
That army of the Maruts, belonging to the others, approaches without strength; conceal it in darkness, with confusion, so that one among them does not recognize another.
अमीषां चित्तं प्रतिलोभयन्ती गृहाणाङ्गान्यप्वे परेहि अभि प्रेहि निर्दह हृत्सु शोकैरन्धेनामित्रास्तमसा सचन्ताम्
Lead astray the minds of these enemies, scatter their limbs, drive them away; advance, burn them in their hearts with torments, let the foes be joined with blinding darkness.
प्रेता जयता नर इन्द्रो वः शर्म यच्छतु उग्रा वः सन्तु बाहवो ऽनाधृष्या यथासथ
Go forth, be victorious, O men; may Indra grant you protection; may your arms be fierce, invincible, as you are.
