His strength and brilliance—when Indra brought together both worlds, as with a hide.
Gracious, wealthy, delighting, she is the good daughter.
Come, O mighty one, with your two beautiful, well-matched bays yoked to the pole—let them draw near.
With lowered heads, they stand in the midst of the waters; with ten horns, they point in every direction.
The eighth and the second half run forth, each to its own; the pourers hasten to the Soma for the hero, the mighty one, for the intoxicating drink.
Here, let the two bay steeds, yoked by prayer, swiftly bring Indra, the friend, the singer to be praised with hymns.
The slayer of Vṛtra, rich in offerings, has drunk; come, do not restrain him from us, he who is abundant in might.
To you the drops approach, like rivers to the ocean; no one surpasses you, Indra.
You have revealed yourself in greatness, O mighty one, awake for the draught of Soma, O Indra, within your bellies.
May the Soma, O Indra, slayer of Vṛtra, be pleasant for your belly; may the drops be pleasant for your abodes.
Awaken with age, understand this, O you who are to be praised by each clan, the hymn for the worshipful Rudra.
May that great, unshakable, smoke-bannered, forward-shining one impel us to wisdom and strength.
May that divine sign, lord of the people, like a benefactor, listen to us with hymns—Agni of great radiance.
Sing that for you at the pressing, together with the much-invoked, for strength, which is auspicious as for the cow, for the generous.
Indeed, the good one does not withhold the gift of wealth rich in cattle, when the songs reach him.
May he, the destroyer of foes, perhaps go forth to the cattle-rich enclosure; with his powers, may he not keep us away.
Viṣṇu has made three strides; he has set down his footstep three times, encompassing all, in the dust.
Viṣṇu, the guardian, unassailable, has made three strides; from there he upholds the laws.
Behold the deeds of Viṣṇu, from where his sacred laws are made manifest, Indra's dear companion.
That highest step of Viṣṇu the wise ever behold, like an eye extended in the sky.
That highest step of Viṣṇu, the inspired poets, ever awake, kindle together.
From there may the gods protect us, from where Viṣṇu has made his strides, upon the ridge of the earth.
Let not you, nor the sacrificer, be angry with us; from afar come to this gathering, or, if near, listen to us.
For these, made by your prayer, at the pressing, the singers, desiring wealth, sit like bees at honey, O Indra; they have placed their foot on the chariot.
I have praised the ancient hymn; speak it forth to Brahman and Indra. The great verses of truth have followed; the thoughts of the singer have flowed forth.
Indra has shaken forth great wealth; together the earth, the sun, the bright and pure ones, the givers of cows, and the Soma juices have gladdened Indra.
Soma, for Indra to drink, for the slayer of Vṛtra, you are poured out, for the man of skill, for the generous one, for the god who sits in his seat.
May we, your friends, O widely-shining one, and you, O wise ones, attain the fragrance of strength; may we gain the wealth of vigor.
They purify that tawny, bay-colored steed with water, who, together with intoxication, goes to all the gods.
What mortal, O Indra of abundant wealth, can overcome you? Indeed, O bountiful one, with faith, the strong one seeks strength in the highest heaven.
