तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्
We contemplate the excellent radiance of Savitar, the divine, may he inspire our minds.
सोमानां स्वरणं कृणुहि ब्रह्मणस्पते कक्षीवन्तं य औशिजः
O Brahmanaspati, make the sound of the Somas, the Kakṣīvān, resound, as the Auśija desires.
अग्न आयूंषि पवसे आ सुवोर्जं इषं च नः आरे बाधस्व दुच्छुनाम्
Agni, you purify our lives; bring us radiant strength and nourishment, drive away misfortune from us.
ता नः शक्तं पार्थिवस्य महो रायो दिव्यस्य महि वा क्षत्रं देवेषु
May you grant us the power of earthly greatness, the wealth of heaven, and the mighty dominion among the gods.
ऋतमृतेन सपन्तेषिरं दक्षमाशाते अद्रुहा देवौ वर्धेते
By truth, they join with truth; they seek pure wisdom; the gods, free from harm, grow strong.
वृष्टिद्यावा रीत्यापेषस्पती दानुमत्याः बृहन्तं गर्त्तमाशाते
The rain-giving heavens and earth, the lords of abundance, seek the vast hollow of Dānumatī.
युञ्जन्ति ब्रध्नमरुषं चरन्तं परि तस्थुषः रोचन्ते रोचना दिवि
They harness the bright, swift one, moving around; the shining realms of heaven glow.
युञ्जन्त्यस्य काम्या हरी विपक्षसा रथे शोणा धृष्णू नृवाहसा
They harness his desired steeds, the red, fierce, heroic ones, yoked to the chariot, with strength and speed.
केतुं कृण्वन्नकेतवे पेशो मर्या अपेशसे समुषद्भिरजायथाः
Making a sign for the signless, you adorn the noble, for the unadorned; you are born together with the dawns.
अयं सोम इन्द्र तुभ्यं सुन्वे तुभ्यं पवते त्वमस्य पाहि त्वं ह यं चकृषे त्वं ववृष इन्दुं मदाय युज्याय सोमम्
This Soma, Indra, I press for you; it is purified for you. You must drink it, for you made it; you have strengthened the drop for joy, for union, for Soma.
स ईं रथो न भुरिषाडयोजि महः पुरूणि सातये वसूनि आदीं विश्वा नहुष्याणि जाता स्वर्षाता वन ऊर्ध्वा नवन्त
He, like a chariot, is abundantly yoked, bringing many treasures for the great; all the offspring of Nahusha, born from the sun, rise upward, seeking the forest.
शुष्मी शर्धो न मारुतं पवस्वानभिशस्ता दिव्या यथा विट् आपो न मक्षू सुमतिर्भवा नः सहस्राप्साः पृतनाषाण्न यज्ञः
Strong, like a troop of Maruts, you purify, unharmed, as the divine; like waters, swiftly, may you be our good fortune, O thousand-streamed, victorious in battle, O sacrifice.
त्वमग्ने यज्ञानां होता विश्वेषां हितः देवेभिर्मानुषे जने
You, Agni, are the priest of all sacrifices, established among gods and human beings.
स नो मन्द्राभिरध्वरे जिह्वाभिर्यजा महः आ देवान्वक्षि यक्षि च
With your delightful tongues at the ritual, worship, O mighty one; lead and honor the gods.
वेत्था हि वेधो अध्वनः पथश्च देवाञ्जसा अग्ने यज्ञेषु सुक्रतो
You, O wise Agni, know the paths and ways; you guide the gods directly in the sacrifices.
होता देवो अमर्त्यः पुरस्तादेति मायया विदथानि प्रचोदयन्
The immortal divine priest goes forth in front, by his skill, urging the rituals onward.
वाजी वाजेषु धीयते ऽध्वरेषु प्र णीयते विप्रो यज्ञस्य साधनः
The swift horse is yoked among the steeds, the priest is led forth at the sacrifices, the sage is the means of the ritual.
धिया चक्रे वरेण्यो भूतानां गर्भमा दधे दक्षस्य पितरं तना
By wisdom, the most excellent fashioned the embryo of beings, he placed the father of skill in his offspring.
आ सुते सिञ्चत श्रियं रोदस्योरभिश्रियम् रसा दधीत वृषभम्
At the pressing, pour out the wealth, the glory of heaven and earth; let the streams cherish the mighty bull.
ते जानत स्वमोक्यां सं वत्सासो न मातृभिः मिथो नसन्त जामिभिः
They know their own utterance, like calves with their mothers; they do not mix with others, but remain with their kin.
उप स्रक्वेषु बप्सतः कृण्वते धरुणं दिवि इन्द्रे अग्ना नमः स्वः
At the offerings, as they desire, they establish a support in heaven; to Indra and Agni, homage and bliss.
तदिदास भुवनेषु ज्येष्टं यतो जज्ञा उग्रस्त्वेषनृम्णः सद्यो जज्ञानो नि रिणाति शत्रूननु यं विश्वे मदन्त्यूमाः
That indeed is the greatest among beings, from whom the fierce, mighty one was born; newly born, he at once overcomes foes, and all the goddesses rejoice in him.
वावृधानः शवसा भूर्योजाः शत्रुर्दासाय भियसं दधाति अव्यनच्च व्यनच्च सस्नि सं ते नवन्त प्रभृता मदेषु
Increasing in strength, possessing much vigor, he brings fear to the enemy for the Dasa; he has protected and scattered, he has conquered, and they bow to you at the gifts and in the delights.
त्वे क्रतुमपि वृञ्जन्ति विश्वे द्विर्यदेते त्रिर्भवन्त्यूमाः स्वादोः स्वादीयः स्वादुना सृजा समदः सु मधु मधुनाभि योधीः
In you, all choose wisdom; when these two become three, the delights are most sweet; sweeter than sweet, pour forth the exhilaration, blend the honey with the honeyed draughts.
त्रिकद्रुकेषु महिषो यवाशिरं तुविशुष्मस्तृम्पत्सोममपिबद्विष्णुना सुतं यथावशम् स ईं ममाद महि कर्म कर्तवे महामुरुं सैनं सश्चद्देवो देवं सत्य इन्दुः सत्यमिन्द्रम्
At the three-wooded press, the buffalo with barley-mixed strength, very mighty, drank the pressed Soma with Vishnu as he wished; he rejoiced in it, to perform a great deed; the true god accompanied the god, the true Soma accompanied true Indra.
साकं जातः क्रतुना साकमोजसा ववक्षिथ साकं वृद्धो वीर्यैः सासहिर्मृधो विचर्षणिः दाता राध स्तुवते काम्यं वसु प्रचेतन सैनं सश्चद्देवो देवं सत्य इन्दुः सत्यमिन्द्रम्
Born together with power, together with might you grew, together with strength you excelled in heroic deeds; you conquered foes, wise one, giver of desired wealth to the praiser; the true god accompanied the god, the true Soma accompanied true Indra.
अध त्विषीमां अभ्योजसा कृविं युधाभवदा रोदसी अपृणदस्य मज्मना प्र वावृधे अधत्तान्यं जठरे प्रेमरिच्यत प्र चेतय सैनं सश्चद्देवो देवं सत्य इन्दुः सत्यमिन्द्रम्
Then, with surpassing might and strength, he became fierce in battle, he filled the two worlds by his greatness; he grew greatly, took another into his belly, and shone forth; the true god accompanied the god, the true Soma accompanied true Indra.
सप्तम प्रथमो ऽर्धः अभि प्र गोपतिं गिरेन्द्रमर्च यथा विदे मूनुं सत्यस्य सत्पतिम्
The seventh, the first portion, sing forth to the lord of the cows, to mountain-Indra, as is fitting, to the true lord of truth.
आ हरयः ससृज्रिरे ऽरुषीरधि बर्हिषि यत्राभि संनवामहे
The bays have been set in motion, the ruddy ones on the sacred grass, where we assemble together.
इन्द्राय गाव आशिरं दुदुह्रे वज्रिणे मधु यत्सीमुपह्वरे विदत्
For Indra, the cows have milked out the barley-mixed draught; for the wielder of the bolt, the honey which he finds in the gathering.
