मत्स्यपायि ते महः पात्रस्येव हरिवो मत्सरो मदः वृषा ते वृष्ण इन्दुर्वाजी सहस्रसातमः
Your greatness is drunk like a fish drinks, O tawny one, like the desire for the cup; your mighty Soma, O bull, is rich in prizes and brings a thousandfold reward.
आ नस्ते गन्तु मत्सरो वृषा मदो वरेण्यः सहावां इन्द्र सानसिः पृतनषाडमर्त्यः
Let your desire come to us, O bull, let the noble exhilaration come; mighty Indra, victorious in battle, bring us the reward.
त्वं हि शूरः सनिता चोदयो मनुषो रथम् सहावान्दस्युमव्रतमोषः पात्रं न शोचिषा
For you are the hero, the winner, the driver of the human chariot; mighty, you destroy the lawless enemy, like a cup shining with fire.
षष्ठ तृतीयो ऽर्धः पवस्व वृष्टिमा सु नो ऽपामूर्मिं दिवस्परि अयक्ष्मा बृहतीरिषः
Sixth, third, half—purify, bring the rain for us; let the wave of waters from heaven, great and free from illness, bring us nourishment.
तया पवस्व धारया यया गाव इहागमन् जन्यास उप नो गृहम्
Purify with that stream by which the cows have come here, born for us, to our home.
घृतं पवस्व धारया यज्ञेषु देववीतमः अस्मभ्यं वृष्टिमा पव
Purify ghee with the stream, most beloved by the gods in sacrifices; bring rain for us, purify.
स न ऊर्जे व्याव्ययं पवित्रं धाव धारया देवासः शृणवन्हि कम्
For us, flow with strength, stream through the purifier with the stream; let the gods hear our desire.
पवमानो असिष्यदद्रक्षांस्यपजङ्घनत् प्रत्नवद्रोचयन्रुचः
The flowing one has shattered the obstacles, has driven away the enemies, shining with ancient lights.
प्रत्यस्मै पिपीषते विश्वानि विदुषे भर अरङ्गमाय जग्मये ऽपश्चादध्वने नरः
Bring to him who desires, who knows all things, for the one who is ready to go, for the one who journeys, for the men on the path behind.
एमेनं प्रत्येतन सोमेभिः सोमपातमम् अमत्रेभिरृजीषिणमिन्द्रं सुतेभिरिन्दुभिः
With these, approach him, with the Somās, the drinker of Soma; with the pure, with the strong, with the pressed drops, approach Indra.
यदी सुतेभिरिन्दुभिः सोमेभिः प्रतिभूषथ वेदा विश्वस्य मेधिरो धृषत्तन्तमिदेषते
If, O wise one, you adorn the Vedas with pressed drops, with moons, with Soma, then you, the intelligent, set forth the strong thread of the universe.
अस्माअस्मा इदन्धसो ऽध्वर्यो प्र भरा सुतम् कुवित्समस्य जेन्यस्य ऽभिशस्तेरवस्वरत्
O Adhvaryu, bring forth the Soma for us, for us, from this pressed juice; perhaps he will grant us the praiseworthy, the desired, the song of praise.
बभ्रवे नु स्वतवसे ऽरुणाय दिविस्पृशे सोमाय गाथमर्चत
Sing a hymn to the tawny, self-powerful, ruddy, sky-touching Soma.
हस्तच्युतेभिरद्रिभिः सुतं सोमं पुनीतन मधावा धावता मधु
Purify the pressed Soma with stones released by the hand; let the sweet juice flow, let the honey run.
नमसेदुप सीदत दध्नेदभि श्रीणीतन इन्दुमिन्द्रे दधातन
Bow down, sit near, listen attentively; place the drop, the moon, in Indra.
अमित्रहा विचर्षणिः पवस्व सोम शं गवे देवेभ्यो अनुकामकृत्
Flow, Soma, slayer of foes, wise among peoples, bring blessing to the cow, to the gods, fulfilling their desire.
इन्द्राय सोम पातवे मदाय परि षिच्यसे मनश्चिन्मनसस्पतिः
O Soma, you are poured out for Indra to drink, for exhilaration; even the mind, lord of mind, is poured out.
पवमान सुवीर्यं रयिं सोम रिरीहि नः इन्दविन्द्रेण नो युजा
O purified Soma, grant us heroic strength and wealth; unite us with Indra, O drop.
उद्धेदभि श्रुतामघं वृषमं नर्यापसम् अस्तारमेषि सूर्य
You rise, O Sun, with your rays, bringing fame and strength, driving away evil, you come as the remover of darkness.
नव यो नवतिं पुरो बिभेद बाह्वोजसा अहिं च वृत्रहावधीत्
He who with the strength of his arms broke nine and ninety fortresses, and slew the serpent, the slayer of Vritra.
स न इन्द्रः शिवः सखाश्वावद्गोमद्यवमत् उरुधारेव दोहते
May that gracious Indra, our friend, rich in horses, cattle, and food, milk for us like a cow with abundant streams.
विभ्राड् बृहत्पिबतु सोम्यं मध्वायुर्दधद्यज्ञपतावविह्रुतम् वातजूतो यो अभिरक्षति त्मना प्रजाः पिपर्ति बहुधा वि राजति
Let the shining one drink the great Soma, holding the sacrifice, bestower of life, delighting in the offering; driven by the wind, he protects by his own power, nourishes the people, and shines forth in many ways.
विभ्राड् बृहत्सुभृतं वाजसातमं धर्मं दिवो धरुणे सत्यमर्पितम् अमित्रहा वृत्रहा दस्युहन्तमं ज्योतिर्जज्ञे असुरहा सपत्नहा
The shining one, greatly upheld, bestower of strength, upholds the law, established in the seat of heaven; slayer of foes, destroyer of Vritra, most powerful against the Dasyus, light is born, slayer of demons and rivals.
इदं श्रेष्ठं ज्योतिषां ज्योतिरुत्तमं विश्वजिद्धनजिदुच्यते बृहत् विश्वभ्राड् भ्राजो महि सूर्यो दृश उरु पप्रथे सह ओजो अच्युतम्
This is the highest, best light of all lights, called the conqueror of all, the winner of wealth, the great, all-shining Sun, whose brilliance spreads widely, firm in strength and power.
इन्द्र क्रतुं न आ भर पिता पुत्रेभ्यो यथा शिक्षा णो अस्मिन्पुरुहूत यामनि जीव ज्योतिरशीमहि
O Indra, bring us wisdom, as a father to his sons; teach us, O much-invoked one, in this dwelling, so that we may attain living light.
मा नो अज्ञाता वृजना दुराध्यो माशिवासो ऽव क्रमुः त्वया वयं प्रवतः शश्वतीरपो ऽति शूर तरामसि
Let not unknown or hostile people, nor evil-doers, overcome us; with you, O hero, may we always cross over the flowing waters safely.
अद्याद्या श्वःश्व इन्द्र त्रास्व परे च नः विश्वा च नो जरित्र्^ईन्त्सत्पते अहा दिवा नक्तं च रक्षिषः
Today, tomorrow, and every day, O Indra, protect us; O lord of the good, guard all our singers by day and by night.
प्रभङ्गी शूरो मघवा तुवीमघः सम्मिश्लो विर्याय कम् उभा ते बाहू वृषणा शतक्रतो नि या वज्रं मिमिक्षतुः
The generous hero, Maghavan, mighty in gifts, is ready for battle; both your strong arms, O hundred-powered one, have fitted the thunderbolt together for strength.
जनीयन्तो न्वग्रवः पुत्रीयन्तः सुदानवः सरस्वन्तं हवामहे
We call upon Sarasvat, who grants abundant offspring and generous gifts, to bless us.
उत नः प्रिया प्रियासु सप्तस्वसा सुजुष्टा सरस्वती स्तोम्या भूत्
May Sarasvatī, beloved among beloved sisters, well-pleased, become worthy of our praise.
