अ स सुतः पीतये वृषा सोमः पवित्रे अर्षति च् विघ्नन्रक्षांसि देवयुः
This pressed, mighty Soma flows in the purifier for drinking; divine, he destroys the demons.
अ स पवित्रे विचक्षणो हरिरर्षति धर्णसिः च् अभि योनिं कनिक्रदत्
This discerning, golden one flows in the purifier, roaring, rushing towards his womb.
अ स वाजी रोचना दिवः पवमानो वि धावति च् रक्षोहा वारमव्ययम्
This steed, Pavamana, runs through the shining realms of heaven; slayer of demons, he reaches the unfailing goal.
अ स त्रितस्याधि सानवि पवमानो अरोचयत् च् जामिभिः सूर्यं सह
This Pavamana, on the summit of Trita, has illuminated together with his kin the sun.
अ स वृत्रहा वृषा सुतो वरिवोविददाभ्यः च् सोमो वाजमिवासरत्
This Soma, bull and pressed, slayer of Vritra, grants wide space to the unassailable, rushing like a steed.
अ स देवः कविनेषितो ऽभि द्रोणानि धावति च् इन्दुरिन्द्राय मंहयन्
This god, inspired by the sage, rushes towards the vessels; Indu, magnifying Indra.
अ यः पावमानीरध्येत्यृषिभिः सम्भृतं रसम् च् सर्वं स पूतमश्नाति स्वदितं मातरिश्वना
He who recites the Pavamani hymns, the essence gathered by the seers, truly eats all that is purified, delightful through the breath of life.
अ पावमानीर्यो अध्येत्यृषिभिः सम्भृतं रसम् च् तस्मै सरस्वती दुहे क्षीरं सर्पिर्मधूदकम्
To him who recites the Pavamani hymns, the essence gathered by the seers, Sarasvati herself gives milk, clarified butter, honey, and water.
अ पावमानीः स्वस्त्ययनीः सुदुघा हि घृतश्चुतः च् ऋषिभिः संभृतो रसो ब्राह्मणेष्वमृतं हितम्
The Pavamani hymns, bringers of welfare, ever-yielding, flowing with ghee—this essence gathered by the seers is placed as immortality among the Brahmins.
अ पावमानीर्दधन्तु न इमं लोकमथो अमुम् च् नो देवीर्देवैः समाहृताः
May the Pavamani hymns establish for us this world and the next, these goddesses brought together by the gods.
अ येन देवाः पवित्रेणात्मानं पुनते सदा च् तेन सहस्रधारेण पावमानीः पुनन्तु नः
By that with which the gods always purify themselves through the filter, with that thousand-streamed flow, may the Pavamani hymns purify us.
अ पावमानीः स्वस्त्ययनीस्ताभिर्गच्छति नान्दनम् च् पुण्यांश्च भक्षान्भक्षयत्यमृतत्वं च गच्छति
The Pavamani hymns, bringers of welfare, by them one reaches delight, eats blessed foods, and attains immortality.
अ अगन्म महा नमसा यविष्ठं यो दीदाय समिद्धः स्वे दुरोणे च् चित्रभानुं रोदसी अन्तरुर्वी स्वाहुतं विश्वतः प्रत्यञ्चम्
We have come with great reverence to the youngest, who shines brightly, kindled in his own home, the radiant one between heaven and earth, invoked from all sides.
अ स मह्ना विश्वा दुरितानि साह्वानग्नि ष्टवे दम आ जातवेदाः च् स नो रक्षिषद्दुरितादवद्यादस्मान्गृणत उत नो मघोनः
By his greatness, Agni, the summoner, removes all evils from the house; O knower of beings, may he protect us from harm and misfortune, and grant us gifts as we praise him.
अ त्वं वरुण उत मित्रो अग्ने त्वां मतिभिर्वसिष्ठाः च् त्वे वसु सुषणनानि सन्तु यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः
You, Varuna, and also Mitra, O Agni, the Vasisthas honor you with their thoughts; may your treasures be most delightful; may you all always protect us with blessings.
अ महां इन्द्रो य ओजसा पर्जन्यो वृष्टिमां इव च् स्तोमैर्वत्सस्य वावृधे
Great is Indra by his strength, like a rain-bringing cloud; by praises he has grown strong like a calf.
अ कण्वा इन्द्रं यदक्रत स्तोमैर्यज्ञस्य साधनम् च् जामि ब्रुवत आयुधा
When the Kanvas made Indra the accomplisher of the sacrifice with their hymns, speak, O kinsman, of the weapons.
अ प्रजामृतस्य पिप्रतः प्र यद्भरन्त वह्नयः च् विप्रा ऋतस्य वाहसा
When the fires, bearers of the immortal, bring forth the offspring, the inspired ones carry the order with their strength.
अ पवमानस्य जिघ्नतो हरेश्चन्द्रा असृक्षत च् जीरा अजिरशोचिषः
Of the purifying one, striking, the bright streams have flowed; the old ones with ever-fresh flame.
अ पवमानो रथीतमः शुभ्रेभिः शुभ्रशस्तमः च् हरिश्चन्द्रो मरुद्गणः
The purifying one, best charioteer, most radiant with shining rays, the golden-bright, the host of Maruts.
अ पवमान् व्यश्नुहि रश्मिभिर्वाजसातमः च् दधत्स्तोत्रे सुवीर्यम्
O purifying one, spread out with your rays, bestower of strength, granting heroic power to the hymn of praise.
अ परीतो षिञ्चता सुतं सोमो य उत्तमं हविः च् दधन्वां यो नर्यो अप्स्वान्तरा सुषाव सोममद्रिभिः
Pour around the pressed Soma, which is the highest offering, he who holds it, the noble one, has pressed Soma with stones in the waters.
अ नूनं पुनानो ऽविभिः परि स्रवादब्धः सुरभिन्तरः च् सुते चित्वाप्सु मदामो अन्धसा श्रीणन्तो गोभिरुत्तरम्
Now let the purified one flow around with his streams, unbound, most fragrant; even in the pressing he delights in the waters, tasting the Soma, adorned with cows, the highest.
अ परि स्वानश्चक्षसे देवमादनः क्रतुरिन्दुर्विचक्षणः
The resounding, far-seeing, wise Soma, delight of the gods, flows around for vision.
अ असावि सोमो अरुषो वृषा हरी राजेव दस्मो अभि गा अचिक्रदत् च् पुनानो वारमत्येष्यव्ययं श्येनो न योनिं घृतवन्तमासदत्
That Soma, lively, tawny, a vigorous bull, with his two bays, like a mighty king, has loudly called out to the cows; purified, he seeks the unfailing shelter, like an eagle he has reached the seat rich in ghee.
अ पर्जन्यः पिता महिषस्य पर्णिनो नाभा पृथिव्या गिरिषु क्षयं दधे च् स्वसार आपो अभि गा उदासरन्त्सं ग्रावभिर्वसते वीते अध्वरे
Parjanya is the father of the horned buffalo, the navel of the earth, he has established his dwelling in the mountains; the waters, his sisters, have flowed towards the cows, he abides with the pressing stones at the sacred rite.
अ कविर्वेधस्या पर्येषि माहिनमत्यो न मृष्टो अभि वाजमर्षसि च् अपसेधन्दुरिता सोम नो मृड घृता वसानः परि यासि निर्णिजम्
O inspired one, you seek the greatness of the wise creator, like a well-adorned steed you rush towards the prize; Soma, driving away what is harmful, grant us happiness, clothed in ghee you pass around the trough.
अ श्रायन्त इव सूर्यं विश्वेदिन्द्रस्य भक्षत च् वसूनि जातो जनिमान्योजसा प्रति भागं न दीधिमः
All the people gaze at Indra as at the sun; born with strength, he has attained the sources of wealth, as we have won our share.
अ अलर्षिरातिं वसुदामुप स्तुहि भद्रा इन्द्रस्य रातयः च् यो अस्य कामं विधतो न रोषति मनो दानाय चोदयन्
Praise the generous giver of wealth, the bounties of Indra are auspicious; he who does not restrain his desire for him, urging his mind to giving.
अ यत इन्द्र भयामहे ततो नो अभ्यं कृधि च् मघवन्छग्धि तव तन्न ऊतये वि द्विषो वि मृधो जहि
From whom, O Indra, we are afraid, from him make us safe; O bountiful one, drive away that for our aid, scatter our foes and adversaries.
