अ तमिन्द्रं वाजयामसि महे वृत्राय हन्तवे च् स वृषा वृषभो भुवत्
We urge Indra with strength for the great slaying of the foe; let him be the mighty bull.
अ इन्द्रः स दामने कृत ओजिष्ठः स बले हितः च् द्युम्नी श्लोकी स सोम्यः
Indra is made for mastery, most vigorous, set for strength; glorious, renowned, and Soma-like.
अ गिरा वज्रो न सम्भृतः सबलो अनपच्युतः च् ववक्ष उग्रो अस्तृतः
With speech, the thunderbolt is gathered, powerful, unfailing; fierce, unbroken, it grows.
अ अध्वर्यो अद्रिभिः सुतं सोमं पवित्र आ नय च् पुनाहीन्द्राय पातवे
O priest, bring the pressed Soma with stones to the purifier; cleanse it for Indra to drink.
अ तव त्य इन्दो अन्धसो देवा मधोर्व्याशत च् पवमानस्य मरुतः
O Indu, the gods have partaken of your exhilarating, sweet essence, and the Maruts of the flowing Soma.
अ दिवः पीयूषमुत्तमं सोममिन्द्राय वज्रिणे च् सुनोता मधुमत्तमम्
Press out the most excellent, sweet Soma from heaven, rich with honey, for Indra the wielder of the thunderbolt.
अ धर्त्ता दिवः पवते कृत्व्यो रसो दक्षो देवानामनुमाद्यो नृभिः च् हरिः सृजानो अत्यो न सत्वभिर्वृथा पाजांसि कृणुषे नदीष्वा
The skillful juice, supporter of heaven, is purified; the wise, praised by gods and men, the tawny one, is released like a steed with strength, making the streams flow without hindrance.
अ शूरो न धत्त आयुधा गभस्त्योः स्वाः सिषासन्रथिरो गविष्टिषु च् इन्द्रस्य शुष्ममीरयन्नपस्युभिरिन्दुर्हिन्वानो अज्यते मनीषिभिः
Like a hero taking up weapons in his hands, self-luminous, eager for battle, he stirs Indra’s might with his companions; the Soma, pressed and guided by the wise, is set in motion.
अ इन्द्रस्य सोम पवमान ऊर्मिणा तविष्यमाणो जठरेष्वा विश च् प्र नः पिन्व विद्युदभ्रेव रोदसी धिया नो वाजां उप माहि शश्वतः
O purified Soma, swelling with Indra’s power in the waves, enter the abodes; pour forth for us, like lightning from a cloud, and by wisdom bring us enduring strength.
अ यदिन्द्र प्रागपागुदङ्न्यग्वा हूयसे नृभिः च् सिमा पुरू नृषूतो अस्यानवे ऽसि तुर्वशे
O Indra, when you are invoked by men from the east, west, or north, you are always the helper of many, and you are the protector of Turvaśa.
अ यद्वा रुमे रुशमे श्यावके कृप इन्द्र मादयसे सचा च् कण्वासस्त्वा स्तोमेभिर्ब्रह्मवाहस इन्द्रा यच्छन्त्या गहि
Or when you delight, O Indra, with Ruma, Ruśama, or Śyāvaka, the Kaṇvas honor you with hymns, O Indra, bringer of strength; come to their call.
अ उभयं शृणवच्च न इन्द्रो अर्वागिदं वचः च् सत्राच्या मघवान्त्सोमपीतये धिया शविष्ठ आ गमत्
Indra hears both, and comes near to this speech; the generous one, summoned for the drinking of Soma, may he, most mighty, come with wisdom.
अ तं हि स्वराजं वृषभं तमोजसा धिषणे निष्टतक्षतुः च् उतोपमानां प्रथमो नि षीदसि सोमकामं हि ते मनः
For you, O sovereign bull, the wise have fashioned the seat with power; you are the first to sit upon the measure, for your mind desires Soma.
अ पवस्व देव आयुषगिन्द्रं गच्छतु ते मदः च् वायुमा रोह धर्मणा
Purify yourself, O god, for long life; may your exhilaration reach Indra; ascend to Vāyu in due order.
अ पवमान नि तोशसे रयिं सोम श्रवाय्यम् च् इन्दो समुद्रमा विश
O purified Soma, you gladden us with wealth and fame; O Indu, enter the ocean.
अ अपघ्नन्पवसे मृधः क्रतुवित्सोम मत्सरः च् नुदस्वादेवयुं जनम्
Purifying yourself, O Soma, wise and exhilarating, you drive away foes; expel those who are hostile to the gods.
अ अभी नो वाजसातमं रयिमर्ष शतस्पृहम् च् इन्दो सहस्रभर्णसं तुविद्युम्नं विभासहम्
Bring us, O Indu, the most prize-winning wealth, abundant in hundreds, bearing thousands, resplendent and victorious.
अ वयं ते अस्य राधसो वसोर्वसो पुरुस्पृहः च् नि नेदिष्ठतमा इषः स्याम सुम्ने ते आध्रिगो
We desire your favor, O giver of riches, O much-desired one; may we, O Adhrigu, be among your closest, most favored recipients of your bounty.
अ परि स्य स्वानो अक्षरिदिन्दुरव्ये मदच्युतः च् धारा य ऊर्ध्वो अध्वरे भ्राजा न याति गव्ययुः
The resounding Soma flows all around, poured out in delight; the stream, raised high in the sacrifice, goes forth shining, seeking the cows.
अ पवस्व सोम महान्त्समुद्रः पिता देवानां विश्वाभि धाम
Purify yourself, O Soma, great ocean, father of the gods, upholding all realms.
अ शुक्रः पवस्व देवेभ्यः सोम दिवे पृथिव्यै शं च प्रजाभ्यः
Shining Soma, purify yourself for the gods, for heaven and earth, and for the welfare of all beings.
अ दिवो धर्त्तासि शुक्रः पीयूषः सत्ये विधर्मन्वाजी पवस्व
You are the supporter of heaven, shining, nourishing, true in your ordinances; purify yourself, O Soma, as the bringer of strength.
अ प्रेष्ठं वो अतिर्थिं स्तुषे मित्रमिव प्रियम् च् अग्ने रथं न वेद्यम्
I praise you, Agni, beloved guest, dear as a friend, like a chariot to be placed on the altar.
अ कविमिव प्रशंस्यं यं देवास इति द्विता च् नि मर्त्येष्वादधुः
Like a sage worthy of praise, whom the gods have set apart among mortals.
अ त्वं यविष्ठ दाशुषो न्र्^ईंपाहि शृणुही गिरः च् रक्षा तोकमुत त्मना
O youngest one, protect your worshippers, hear our songs; guard our offspring and yourself.
अ एन्द्र नो गधि प्रिय सत्राजिदगोह्य च् गिरिर्न विश्वतः पृथुः पतिर्दिवः
O Indra, grant us a secure place, beloved, renowned for sacrifices, vast as a mountain on every side, lord of heaven.
अ अभि हि सत्य सोमपा उभे बभूथ रोदसी च् इन्द्रासि सुन्वतो वृधः पतिर्दिवः
Truly, O drinker of Soma, you have become both heaven and earth; Indra, you are the mighty lord of heaven for the one who presses Soma.
अ त्वं हि शश्वतीनामिन्द्र धर्त्ता पुरामसि च् हन्ता दस्योर्मनोर्वृधः पतिर्दिवः
You, Indra, have always been the supporter of ancient strongholds, the slayer of the Dasyu, the mighty, lord of heaven.
अ पुरां भिन्दुर्युवा कविरमितौजा अजायत च् इन्द्रो विश्वस्य कर्मणो धर्त्ता वज्री पुरुष्टुतः
Breaker of fortresses, youthful sage, of boundless strength, Indra was born as the upholder of all actions, wielder of the bolt, much praised.
अ त्वं वलस्य गोमतो ऽपावरद्रिवो बिलम् च् त्वां देवा अबिभ्युषस्तुज्यमानास आविषुः
You, O thunderer, opened the cave of Vala rich in cows; the gods, trembling, sought you for protection.
