यज्ञ व्यवर्तयत् चक्राण ओपशं दिवि
The sacrifice has turned forth, making the smoke rise to heaven.
यदिन्द्राहं तथा त्वमीशीय वस्व एक इत् स्तोता मे गोसखा स्यात्
O Indra, as I am, so may you be; may I alone possess the wealth; may my praiser be a friend of cows.
पन्यंपन्यमित्सोतार आ धावत मद्याय सोमं वीराय शूराय
Let each praiser hasten here, one after another, for the intoxicating Soma, for the hero, for the champion.
इदं वसो सुतमन्धः पिबा सुपूर्णमुदरम् अनाभयिन्ररिमा ते
Drink, O benefactor, this pressed Soma, with the vessel full; let no harm come to you here.
उद्धेदभि श्रुतामघं वृषभं नर्यापसम् अस्तारमेषि सूर्य
The glorious bull, famed for gifts, rises up; you, O Sun, go to your appointed place.
यदद्य कच्च वृत्रहन्नुदगा अभि सूर्य सर्वं तदिन्द्र ते वशे
Whatever today, O slayer of Vṛtra, you have brought forth with the Sun, all that, O Indra, is under your control.
य आनयत्परावतः सुनीती तुर्वशं यदुम् इन्द्रः स नो युवा सखा
May Indra, who wisely brought Turvasha and Yadu from afar, be our youthful friend.
मा न इन्द्राभ्या ऽ ऽ दिशः सूरो अक्तुष्वा यमत त्वा युजा वनेम तत्
Let not the directions be hostile to us, O Indra; with you as our ally, may we conquer in this day's light.
एन्द्र सानसिं रयिं सजित्वानं सदासहम् वर्षिष्ठमूतये भर
Indra, bring us abundant, ever-victorious, and most generous wealth for our prosperity.
इन्द्रं वयं महाधन इन्द्रमर्भे हवामहे युजं वृत्रेषु वज्रिणम्
We call upon mighty Indra, the wielder of the thunderbolt, for great riches, in youth and in battle against foes.
अपिबत्कद्रुवः सुतमिन्द्रः सहस्रबाह्वे तत्राददिष्ट पौंस्यम्
Indra of a thousand arms drank the pressed soma of the Kadruvas; there he attained his manly strength.
वयमिन्द्र त्वायवो ऽभि प्र नोनुमो वृषन् विद्धी त्वास्य नो वसो
We, O Indra, your worshippers, praise you; mighty one, know us as yours, O generous lord.
आ घा ये अग्निमिन्धते स्तृणन्ति बर्हिरानुषक् येषामिन्द्रो युवा सखा
Those who kindle the fire and spread the sacred grass—of them, Indra is the youthful friend.
भिन्धि विश्वा अप द्विषः परि बाधो जही मृधः वसु स्पार्हं तदा भर
Shatter all our haters, drive away obstacles, strike down the foes; bring us that desirable wealth.
इहेव शृण्व एषां कशा हस्तेषु यद्वदान् नि यामं चित्रमृञ्जते
Here, listen to their whips in hand; as they drive, the splendid team is adorned.
इम उ त्वा वि चक्षते सखाय इन्द्र सोमिनः पुष्टावन्तो यथा पशुम्
These Soma-offering friends look upon you, Indra, as nourishing as cattle are to their owner.
समस्य मन्यवे विशो विश्वा नमन्त कृष्टयः समुद्रायेव सिन्धवः
For the wrath of the mighty one, all peoples bow, like rivers to the ocean.
देवानामिदवो महत्तदा वृणीमहे वयम् वृष्णामस्मभ्यमूतये
We choose the greatness of the gods for our aid, that strength may come to us.
सोमानां स्वरणं कृणुहि ब्रह्मणस्पते कक्षीवन्तं य औशिजः
O Brahmanaspati, make the sound of the Somas resound, as Kakṣīvant, the son of Uśij, did.
बोधन्मना इदस्तु नो वृत्रहा भूर्यासुतिः शृणोतु शक्र आशिषम्
Let the slayer of Vṛtra, mindful, be present for us; may Śakra hear our prayer and grant abundant aid.
अद्य नो देव सवितः प्रजावत्सावीः सौभगम् परा दुःष्वप्न्यं सुव
Today, O divine Savitar, grant us offspring and good fortune; drive away evil dreams.
क्वास्य वृषभो युवा तुविग्रीवो अनानतः ब्रह्मा कस्तं सपर्यति
Where is his youthful, unyielding bull with mighty neck? Who, as priest, worships him?
उपह्वरे गिरीणां सङ्गमे च नदीनाम् धिया विप्रो अजायत
At the foot of the mountains, at the meeting of the rivers, the inspired sage was born through thought.
प्र सम्राजं चर्षणीनामिन्द्रं स्तोता नव्यं गीर्भिः नरं नृषाहं मंहिष्ठम्
Let us praise Indra, king of peoples, the subduer of men, the most mighty, with new songs.
द्वितीय द्वितीयो ऽर्धः अपादु शिप्रयन्धसः सुदक्षस्य प्रहोषिणः इन्द्रोरिन्द्रो यवाशिरः
The second half of the second verse is dedicated to Indra, the swift drinker of Soma, the skillful, the mighty, the barley-bearded.
इमा उ त्वा पुरुवसो ऽभि प्र नोनवुर्गिरः गावो वत्सं न धेनवः
To you, O possessor of many treasures, these songs have been sent forth, like cows to their calf, O Indra.
अत्राह गोरमन्वत नाम त्वष्टुरपीच्यम् इत्था चन्द्रमसो गृहे
Here they have followed the name of the cow, the hidden one of Tvaṣṭṛ; thus, in the house of the moon.
यदिन्द्रो अनयद्रितो महीरपो वृषन्तमः तत्र पूषाभुवत्सचा
When Indra, unhonored, led forth the great, most powerful waters, there Pūṣan became his companion.
गौर्धयति मरुतां श्रवस्युर्माता मघोनाम् युक्ता वह्नी रथानाम्
The cow, famed among the Maruts, the mother of the generous, is yoked as the fire to the chariots.
उप नो हरिभिः सुतं याहि मदानां पते उप नो हरिभिः सुतम्
Come to us with your bays, Lord of delights, come to us with your bays to the pressed Soma.
