The gods generated the universal one as the navel of sacrifices, the seat of riches, the great, the mighty; they rejoice in him, the charioteer of rites, the sign of sacrifice.
Sing forth to Mitra and Varuṇa with inspired song, for their great and mighty rule, vast and splendid.
Those two sovereigns, Mitra and Varuṇa, whose origin is in ghee, are praised among the gods as divine among divinities.
May your power, great on earth and in the heavens, be strong for us; great is your rule among the gods.
Indra, come with your shining light; these pressed drinks are purified for you by our hands, in small measures.
Indra, come, inspired by prayer, accompanied by the wise, to the pressed Soma, to the hymns of the singers.
Indra, come eagerly, O tawny one, to the hymns; place our pressed Soma for our benefit.
Praise him who, with his flame, embraces all things, who with his tongue makes the dark things bright.
He who, kindled, calls for Indra's favor, that mortal finds abundant waters for glory.
May those swift, prize-bringing gifts carry us and our horses safely; to Indra and Agni, for our journey.
The drop has set out to Indra's dwelling; a friend does not abandon a friend, like a youth delights with maidens, Soma rushes in the vessel along a hundredfold path.
Your delightful, skillful, praiseworthy thoughts have advanced in the gatherings; they have sought the tawny one at play, the hymns have surrounded him, the cows have settled around the milk.
O Soma, come to us, flowing with nourishing essence; Indu, pour forth, purified, in waves. May that which is drawn for us, three times daily, bring fertile land, wealth, honeyed strength, and heroic power.
No act is wasted, nor does it perish; it is ever fruitful. Like Indra, through sacrifices, all-encompassing, unassailable, mighty, and powerful.
He is firm, fierce, victorious in battles, in whom great powers are set free. When he is born, the cows come together, and heaven and earth unite without obstruction.
Friends, sit down for the purification; sing forth. Like a child adorned by sacrifices, surround him for glory.
Release him, like a calf to its mothers, for the attainment of life. In divine intoxication, let him be praised among the twice-born.
Purify that which accomplishes skill, as for the band, for prosperity; as for Mitra and Varuna, for peace.
The mighty one, thousand-streamed, flows forth through the filter, ever fresh and pure.
He, the mighty one, thousand-seeded, cleansed with waters, adorned with cows, shines forth.
O Soma, go forth to Indra’s belly, pressed by men with stones, prepared for drinking.
Those Somas pressed in the far land, those pressed here, and those pressed in the land of the chariots.
Those in the Arjika rituals, those in the midst of dwellings, and those among the five peoples.
May they pour rain from the sky for us, those divine Somas, bringing heroic strength.
To you, O calf, the mind goes from the highest abode; Agni, I desire you with my song.
For you are harmonious in many places, master of all directions; in battles, we call upon you.
In battles, for help, we call Agni, seeking victory, who gives splendid gifts in contests.
You, Indra, bring us strength and heroism, O mighty one, wise, victorious in battles; bring us a warrior who conquers in war.
You are our father, O lord; you are our mother, O mighty one. Therefore, we seek your favor.
To you, O powerful, much-invoked one, victorious, I speak; grant us heroic strength.
