अ सोमाः पवन्त इन्दवो ऽस्मभ्यं गातुवित्तमाः च् मित्राः सुवाना अरेपसः स्वाध्यः स्वर्विदः
The Soma juices, the drops, are purified for us, bestowers of the path; friendly, well-pressed, flawless, self-sustaining, knowers of the light.
अ ते पूतासो विपश्चितः सोमासो दध्याशिरः च् सूरासो न दर्शतासो जिगत्नवो ध्रुवा घृते
Those purified, wise Somas, bearing the head, are like heroes, splendid to behold, victorious, steadfast in ghee.
अ सुष्वाणासो व्यद्रिभिश्चिताना गोरधि त्वचि च् इषमस्मभ्यमभितः समस्वरन्वसुविदः
Well-pressed by the stones, they flow, marked out upon the cow’s shining hide; may they bring us nourishment from all sides, finders of wealth.
अ अया पवा पवस्वैना वसूनि मांश्चत्व इन्दो सरसि प्र धन्व च् ब्रघ्नश्चिद्यस्य वातो न जूतिं पुरुमेधाश्चित्तकवे नरं धात्
By this purification, flow on, O Soma, into these riches; enter the lake, O drop, and run forth in the stream, even he whose course the wind does not hinder, whom many wise men, thoughtful, establish.
अ उत न एना पवया पवस्वाधि श्रुते श्रवाय्यस्य तीर्थे च् षष्टिं सहस्रा नैगुतो वसूनि वृक्षं न पक्वं धूनवद्रणाय
And by this purification, flow on, O Soma, to the renowned place of fame; shake out for us sixty thousand treasures, like a ripe tree, for the contest.
अ महीमे अस्य वृष नाम शूषे मांश्चत्वे वा पृशने वा वधत्रे च् अस्वापयन्निगुतः स्नेहयच्चापामित्रां अपाचितो अचेतः
Great is his bull-like name in the pressing, whether in the flesh or in the filter or in the vessel; the hidden one lulls to sleep, moistens, drives away the unfriendly, and removes the senseless.
अ अग्ने त्वं नो अन्तम उत त्राता शिवो भुवो वरूथ्यः
Agni, you are our nearest, and also our protector; may you be auspicious and a sheltering refuge.
अ वसुरग्निर्वसुश्रवा अच्छा नक्षि द्युमत्तमो रयिं दाः
Agni is the treasure, famed for wealth; come hither, most radiant, grant us abundant riches.
अ तं त्वा शोचिष्ठ दीदिवः सुम्नाय नूनमीमहे सखिभ्यः
To you, O most brilliant, shining one, we now seek favor for ourselves and our friends.
अ इमा नु कं भुवना सीषधेमेन्द्रश्च विश्वे च देवाः
May Indra and all the gods now sit here with us in these worlds.
अ यज्ञं च नस्तन्वं च प्रजां चादित्यैरिन्द्रः सह सीषधातु
May Indra together with the Ādityas establish our sacrifice, our bodies, and our offspring.
अ आदित्यैरिन्द्रः सगणो मरुद्भिरस्मभ्यं भेषजा करत्
May Indra with the Ādityas and the Maruts grant us remedies.
अ प्र व इन्द्राय वृत्रहन्तमाय विप्राय गाथं गायत यं जुजोषते
Sing forth a song to Indra, the slayer of Vṛtra, the inspired one, which he delights in.
अ अर्चन्त्यर्कं मरुतः स्वर्का आ स्तोभति श्रुतो युवा स इन्द्रः
The Maruts, shining with light, sing the hymn; the youthful Indra, famed, is praised.
अ उप प्रक्षे मधुमति क्षियन्तः पुष्येम रयिं धीमहे त इन्द्र
May we, dwelling in sweetness, approach you, Indra, and obtain wealth and insight.
चतुर्थ द्वितीयो ऽर्धः अ प्र काव्यमुशनेव ब्रुवाणो देवो देवानां जनिमा विवक्ति च् महिव्रतः शुचिबन्धुः पावकः पदा वराहो अभ्येति रेभन्
Like Ushanas proclaiming wisdom, the god declares the origins of the gods; the great-vowed, pure-banded, shining one, the boar, comes forth, roaring, with his steps.
अ प्र हंसासस्तृपला वग्नुमच्छामादस्तं वृषगणा अयासुः च् आङ्गोषिणं पवमानं सखायो दुर्मर्षं वाणं प्र वदन्ति साकम्
The swans, with threefold measure, have gone forth, the powerful ones, together with the troop of bulls; and friends speak together of the purifying, unconquerable, roaring one.
अ स योजत उरुगायस्य जूतिं वृथा क्रीडन्तं मिमते न गावः च् परीणसं कृणुते तिग्मशृङ्गो दिवा हरिर्ददृशे नक्तमृज्रः
He joins the course of the wide-gloried one; the cows do not measure the one playing in vain; the sharp-horned, golden one makes a circuit, seen by day, cleansed by night.
अ प्र स्वानासो रथा इवार्वन्तो न अवस्यवः च् सोमासो राये अक्रमुः
The resounding ones, like swift chariots, have advanced as helpers; the Somas have reached for wealth.
अ हिन्वानासो रथा इव दधन्विरे गभस्त्योः च् भरासः कारिणामिव
Urged on, like chariots, they have been established in the hands; bearers, like those of the artisans.
अ राजानो न प्रशस्तिभिः सोमासो गोभिरञ्जते च् यज्ञो न सप्त धातृभिः
The Somas, like kings with praises, are adorned with cows; the sacrifice, like one with seven arrangers.
अ परि स्वानास इन्दवो मदाय बर्हणा गिरा च् मधो अर्षन्ति धारया
The resounding drops, for delight, flow around with strength and song; they stream forth honey with their flow.
अ आपानासो विवस्वतो जिन्वन्त उषसो भगम् च् सूरा अण्वं वि तन्वते
The drinkers of light quicken the wealth of dawn; the strong ones spread abundance widely.
अ अप द्वारा मतीनां प्रत्ना ऋण्वन्ति कारवः च् वृष्णो हरस आयवः
The ancient doors of thoughts, the active ones open; the swift ones of the bull's energy.
अ समीचीनास आशत होतारः सप्तजानयः च् पदमेकस्य पिप्रतः
The seven-born priests, united, have sought the single path, desiring the one track.
अ नाभा नाभिं न आ ददे चक्षुषा सूर्य दृशे च् कवेरपत्यमा दुहे
As the navel is set in the navel, so I have placed it for the sight of the sun; I draw forth the offspring of the sage.
अ अभि प्रियं दिवस्पदमध्वर्युभिर्गुहा हितम् च् सूरः पस्यति चक्षसा
To the dear seat of heaven, hidden by the priests, the sun beholds with his eye.
अ असृग्रमिन्दवः पथा धर्मन्नृतस्य सुश्रियः च् विदाना अस्य योजना
The drops have flowed forth on the path of truth, of splendid form; their arrangements are his yokings.
अ प्र धारा मधो अग्रियो महीरपो वि गाहते च् हविर्हविःषु वन्द्यः
The foremost stream of honey, great, pervades the waters; the offering, worthy of praise among the offerings.
अ प्र युजा वाचो अग्रियो वृषो अचिक्रदद्वने च् सद्माभि सत्यो अध्वरः
The bull, foremost in speech, has bellowed in the forest yoked; the true sacrifice abides in the dwellings.
