Just as you bear a long goad, a weapon for guidance, O wise one, with your former step, O generous one, we would go, as Yama did; the divine mother, the blessed mother, has given birth to you.
Remove from us the malice of the mortal, make his position low and firm, make him fall beneath us who attacks us; the divine mother, the blessed mother, has given birth to you.
The resounding Soma, pressed on the mountain, flows through the filter; in the exhilarations you are all-pervading.
You are the inspired one, you are the sage, sweet-born from the pressing; in the exhilarations you are all-pervading.
In you, all the gods together have drunk the draught; in the exhilarations you are all-pervading.
He is pressed who is the bringer of wealth, the leader of riches, the one of offerings, Soma who is the lord of good dwellings.
He, whose Soma Indra drinks, whose Maruts, whose Bhaga, the bestower of boons; by whom we may act with Mitra and Varuṇa, for great help from Indra.
Sing forth for your friend, for exhilaration, the purified one; delight him with offerings as one would a child with praises.
Like a calf with its mothers, the drop is impelled and pressed forth; the exhilarating draught, adorned by thoughts, is made ready for the gods.
This pressed Soma is prepared for skill, for strength, for delight; this Soma, rich in sweetness, is offered to the gods.
The Soma juices, the drops, are purified for us, bestowers of the path; friendly, well-pressed, flawless, self-sustaining, knowers of the light.
Those purified, wise Somas, bearing the head, are like heroes, splendid to behold, victorious, steadfast in ghee.
Well-pressed by the stones, they flow, marked out upon the cow’s shining hide; may they bring us nourishment from all sides, finders of wealth.
By this purification, flow on, O Soma, into these riches; enter the lake, O drop, and run forth in the stream, even he whose course the wind does not hinder, whom many wise men, thoughtful, establish.
And by this purification, flow on, O Soma, to the renowned place of fame; shake out for us sixty thousand treasures, like a ripe tree, for the contest.
Great is his bull-like name in the pressing, whether in the flesh or in the filter or in the vessel; the hidden one lulls to sleep, moistens, drives away the unfriendly, and removes the senseless.
Agni, you are our nearest, and also our protector; may you be auspicious and a sheltering refuge.
Agni is the treasure, famed for wealth; come hither, most radiant, grant us abundant riches.
To you, O most brilliant, shining one, we now seek favor for ourselves and our friends.
May Indra and all the gods now sit here with us in these worlds.
May Indra together with the Ādityas establish our sacrifice, our bodies, and our offspring.
May Indra with the Ādityas and the Maruts grant us remedies.
Sing forth a song to Indra, the slayer of Vṛtra, the inspired one, which he delights in.
The Maruts, shining with light, sing the hymn; the youthful Indra, famed, is praised.
May we, dwelling in sweetness, approach you, Indra, and obtain wealth and insight.
Like Ushanas proclaiming wisdom, the god declares the origins of the gods; the great-vowed, pure-banded, shining one, the boar, comes forth, roaring, with his steps.
The swans, with threefold measure, have gone forth, the powerful ones, together with the troop of bulls; and friends speak together of the purifying, unconquerable, roaring one.
He joins the course of the wide-gloried one; the cows do not measure the one playing in vain; the sharp-horned, golden one makes a circuit, seen by day, cleansed by night.
The resounding ones, like swift chariots, have advanced as helpers; the Somas have reached for wealth.
Urged on, like chariots, they have been established in the hands; bearers, like those of the artisans.
