अग्न आ याहि वीतये गृणानो हव्यदातये नि होता सत्सि बर्हिषि
Agni, come here for the offering, being praised, to receive the oblation; be the Hotar, seated on the sacred grass.
त्वमग्ने यज्ञानां होता विश्वेषां हितः देवेभिर्मानुषे जने
You, Agni, are the Hotar of all sacrifices, established among all the gods and among humankind.
अग्निं दूतं वृणीमहे होतारं विश्ववेदसम् अस्य यज्ञस्य सुक्रतुम्
We choose Agni as the messenger, the Hotar who knows all, possessing good wisdom for this sacrifice.
अग्निर्वृत्राणि जङ्घनद्द्रविणस्युर्विपन्यया समिद्धः शुक्र आहुतः
Agni has shattered the obstacles, the giver of wealth by his insight, kindled, shining, and invoked.
प्रेष्ठं वो अतिथिं स्तुषे मित्रमिव प्रियम् अग्ने रथं न वेद्यम्
I praise you, Agni, as the most beloved guest, dear as a friend, like a chariot worthy of being placed on the altar.
त्वं नो अग्ने महोभिः पाहि विश्वस्या अरातेः उत द्विषो मर्त्यस्य
Protect us, Agni, with your great powers from every hostility and also from the hatred of mortals.
एह्यू षु ब्रवाणि ते ऽग्न इत्थेतरा गिरः एभिर्वर्धास इन्दुभिः
Come here, I will speak these words to you, Agni; with these praises may we increase you, as with Soma juices.
आ ते वत्सो मनो यमत्परमाच्चित्सधस्थात् अग्ने त्वां कामये गिरा
To you, Agni, my mind goes forth, even from the highest seat; with my voice I long for you.
त्वामग्ने पुष्करादध्यथर्वा निरमन्थत मूर्ध्नो विश्वस्य वाघतः
You, Agni, Atharvan churned out from the lotus, from the head of all who work with offerings.
अग्ने विवस्वदा भरास्मभ्यमूतये महे देवो ह्यसि नो दृशे
Agni, bring the wealth of Vivasvat to us for help; you are the god who is visible to us.
नमस्ते अग्न ओजसे गृणन्ति देव कृष्टयः अमैरमित्रमर्दय
Homage to you, Agni, for your strength; the peoples praise you, O god; destroy the unfriendly one without mercy.
दूतं वो विश्ववेदसं हव्यवाहममर्त्यम् यजिष्ठमृञ्जसे गिरा
As the messenger who knows all, the immortal carrier of offerings, the most worthy of sacrifice, I praise you with my song.
उप त्वा जामयो गिरो देदिशतीर्हविष्कृतः वायोरनीके अस्थिरन्
To you, Agni, the wives direct their songs, having prepared the oblation; they have taken their place in the domain of Vayu.
उप त्वाग्ने दिवेदिवे दोषावस्तर्धिया वयम् नमो भरन्त एमसि
To you, Agni, day by day, at dawn and dusk, with thought, we come bearing homage.
जराबोध तद्विविड्ढि विशेविशे यज्ञियाय स्तोमं रुद्राय दृशीकम्
Awaken, take note of this, O wise one, for each and every worshipper; the praise for the worshipful Rudra is to be seen.
प्रति त्यं चारुमध्वरं गोपीथाय प्र हूयसे मरुद्भिरग्न आ गहि
To that lovely sacrifice, for the protection of the cows, you are called forth; come, Agni, with the Maruts.
अश्वं न त्वा वारवन्तं वन्दध्या अग्निं नमोभिः सम्राजन्तमध्वराणाम्
Like a swift horse, we would praise you, Agni, with reverence, the sovereign of the sacrifices.
और्वभृगुवच्छुचिमप्नवानवदा हुवे अग्निं समुद्रवाससम्
I invoke Agni, pure as the descendants of Aurva and Bhrigu, sinless, dwelling in the ocean.
अग्निमिन्धानो मनसा धियं सचेत मर्त्यः अग्निमिन्धे विवस्वभिः
A mortal, kindling Agni with his mind, joins his thought with understanding; he kindles Agni with the rays of the sun.
आदित्प्रत्नस्य रेतसो ज्योतिः पश्यन्ति वासरम् परो यदिध्यते दिवि
From the ancient seed, they behold the light of day, which shines far above in the sky.
अग्निं वो वृधन्तमध्वराणां पुरूतमम् अच्छा नप्त्रे सहस्वते
To Agni, the increaser of sacrifices, most bountiful, we approach, to the descendant of strength.
अग्निस्तिग्मेन शोचिषा यंसद्विश्वं न्यात्रिणम् अग्निर्नो वंसते रयिम्
Agni, with his sharp flame, restrains all who transgress; may Agni grant us wealth.
अग्ने मृड महां अस्यय आ देवयुं जनम् इयेथ बर्हिरासदम्
O Agni, be gracious; may you lead this great assembly of the god-seeking people to the seat of offering.
अग्ने रक्षा णो अंहसः प्रति स्म देव रीषतः तपिष्ठैरजरो दह
O Agni, protect us from harm; repel, O god, all injury; with your fiercest, unfailing flames, burn it away.
अग्ने युङ्क्ष्वा हि ये तवाश्वासो देव साधवः अरं वहन्त्याशवः
O Agni, yoke those swift and noble horses of yours, O god, who easily carry the offering.
नि त्वा नक्ष्य विश्पते द्युमन्तं धीमहे वयम् सुवीरमग्न आहुत
We invoke you, O lord of the people, shining Agni, for strength and heroic sons, when you are kindled.
अग्निर्मूर्धा दिवः ककुत्पतिः पृथिव्या अयम् अपां रेतांसि जिन्वति
Agni is the crown of heaven, the summit, the lord of earth; he stirs the seeds of the waters.
इममू षु त्वमस्माकं सनिं गायत्रं नव्यांसम् अग्ने देवेषु प्र वोचः
This new song of ours, O Agni, may you declare among the gods as our ally in the hymn.
तं त्वा गोपवनो गिरा जनिष्ठदग्ने अङ्गरः स पावक श्रुधी हवम्
You, O Agni, were born by the word of the herdsman; O radiant one, listen to this invocation.
परि वाजपतिः कविरग्निर्हव्यान्यक्रमीत् दधद्रत्नानि दाशुषे
The wise Agni, lord of riches, has gone around the offerings; he gives treasures to the worshipper.
