At the sacred pressing of Soma, we pour out the invigorating drink for you, O bull among gods, that you may be satisfied and partake of its delight. Indra, this Soma pressed into cups and vessels is yours by right—drink of it, for you are its lord and master. With every union and reunion, with strength upon strength, we call you, Indra, our friend, to aid us in the contest. Come, Indra, be seated among us; let us, your friends, sing together with voices full of praise. This pressed Soma is indeed for you, O generous Lord of gifts; drink it with your might, O singer. May you, mighty Indra, always be foremost for us; may greatness belong to you, wielder of the thunderbolt, and may the very heavens never limit your power. Come, Indra, and grasp for us the splendid prize, rich in land, with your great right hand. Let us sing to you, Lord of herds, Indra of the mountains, as is fitting, to the son of truth, the true master. By what wondrous means does our ever-growing friend become our messenger? By what most powerful support is he chosen? That mighty one who conquers in gatherings—offer him your songs in all assemblies, for he stirs and aids his devotees. To the wondrous, beloved lord of the seat, desired by Indra, bring the offering, rich in wisdom. O gods, may your paths beneath the sky, by which you drove forth the horse, hear us. May good fortune come to us, O hundred-powered Indra, when you grant us strength and favor. This Soma is pressed, and the Maruts drink of it, as do the radiant Ashvins. Those who observe and long, worship Indra, born for victory and eager for heroic strength. We do not harm the gods, nor do we approach wrongly; we walk the path of sacred utterance. Dawn has come, radiant and resounding with great song; O Atharvan, praise the divine Savitar. This unprecedented dawn shines forth; beloved of heaven, I praise you, Ashvins, with a lofty hymn. Indra, with the bones of Dadhichi, unconquered, struck down ninety and nine foes. Come, Indra, with the exhilarating Soma and all the festivals of Soma, mighty and full of strength. Now, O Indra, come to us, great one, with your mighty protections. It is Indra who established both worlds with his strength and vigor, stretching them out as if they were two skins. Your word, Indra, like a pigeon returning to its nest, has come close; you have not neglected it. May the wind bring us healing, happiness, and delight to our hearts; may it carry away our ailments. The person whom the wise ones—Varuṇa, Mitra, and Aryaman—protect, no one can harm. May we, as in times before, have abundance of cows, horses, and chariots, for the sake of great renown. These, O Indra, the spotted ones, yield clarified butter in abundance; these streams flow with the nectar of immortality. With this prayer and desire for cattle, O much-praised one, you, Indra, are made manifest at the Soma offering. May Sarasvatī, pure and rich in horses, full of strength and wisdom, desire our sacrifice. Who among the descendants of Nahusha will satisfy Indra with Soma? May he bring us riches. Come here, for you are truly eager, O Indra; drink this Soma. Here is my seat on the sacred grass. Great is the shelter of the three—Mitra, Aryaman, and the unconquerable Varuṇa. With your help, O Indra, much-invoked leader, we are the guides and upholders of the chariots. May the third, the first portion, may the Somas gladden you; grant us wealth, O stone-armed one, and strike down the haters of prayer. O song-loving Indra, protect our pressed Soma; you delight in streams of sweetness, and from you comes renowned glory. Indra is always to be praised; no god who is worshipped turns away from him, the heroic Indra. To you, Indra, the drops flow together like rivers to the ocean; no one surpasses you, Indra. The singers chant only Indra, the mighty; with hymns they praise you, and with their voices they call upon you. May Indra grant us strength and the wealth of the Ribhus; may the mighty one bestow upon us vigor and the power to strive. Indeed, Indra, let him dispel great fear; for he is steadfast and wise among men.
