The radiant Soma, beloved and sweet, flows forth as the delight of the sacrifice. He is the father of the gods, the very creator of riches, and bestows treasures worthy of praise—most gladdening and exhilarating, the powerful essence that enlivens all. With a resounding rush, this vigorous lord of heaven, with a hundred streams and keen discernment, hastens to the vessel. The tawny one, purified by the rivers, sits in the dwellings of Mitra, a mighty bull among the streams. Foremost among the rivers, the purified Soma surges forward; foremost in speech, he moves among the cows. First in strength, he wins great wealth, well-armed, accompanied by those who press him. Swift and strong, bull-like Somas flow forth, bearing wealth in cattle and horses, shining with heroic vigor. Purified by the hands of the truthful, cleansed between two palms, they glide along the unchanging channel. May all treasures—divine, earthly, and those of the midspace—flow to the worshipper through you, O Somas. Purify yourself with divine power in the filter, O delightful one, and enter, mighty drop, into Indra’s hosts. Speak forth, O abundant and glorious bull Soma; enter your appointed seat. The dear, sweet juice has been milked, the inspired streams pressed; the waters, O wise one, flow for you. The great rivers flow to you, O Soma, the great one, especially when you are adorned with cows. The ocean is cleansed in the waters, the foundation of heaven, and Soma, ever purified, remains forever youthful. The mighty, tawny one bellows, great and wondrous as Mitra, shining together with the sun. O Indra, by your strength our songs are purified, you who see far, adorning yourself for exhilaration. For your joy, we seek you, the swift one, the maker of worlds, for your great praise. O Indu, you are the delight of cows, of men, of horses, and of strength itself; you are also the ancient spirit of sacrifice. O Indu, pour out your invigorating power for us, flow with sweetness like a rain-bringing cloud. Ever victorious and triumphant, O purified Soma, grant us great renown and bestow prosperity upon us. Grant us everlasting light, radiance, and all good fortunes; bestow prosperity upon us. Grant us skill and wisdom, drive away our foes, and bestow prosperity upon us. Let the purifiers cleanse Soma for Indra to drink, and bestow prosperity upon us. Like the Sun, you unite us by your power and aids, and bestow prosperity upon us. Through your strength, may we always see the Sun, and bestow prosperity upon us. Advance, O Soma, with your own weapon, bring us doubly strong wealth, and bestow prosperity upon us. Advance, unconquered, victorious in contests, winning prizes in battles, and bestow prosperity upon us. You have been magnified by sacrifices in the sacred rite, and bestow prosperity upon us. Bring us splendid and all-encompassing wealth, O Indu, renowned among all, and bestow prosperity upon us. The exhilarating stream of pressed Soma rushes forth; the exhilarating stream rushes forth. The dawn knows the treasures of mortals, the divine sustenance; the exhilarating stream rushes forth. From the two rich ones, we have received thousands of gifts; the exhilarating stream rushes forth. From those whose thirty offspring and thousands we have received, the exhilarating stream rushes forth. These Somas, praised for their great might, have flowed forth with the most exhilarating stream. O purified one, flow for the winning of cows, with manly strength; flow around, ever victorious. And now, O singer, praise for us all the flowing streams with a hymn, together with Jamadagni. This song we offer to the worthy Jātavedas; let us unite it with our thought as a chariot. Blessed indeed is our counsel in this assembly—Agni, may we not come to harm in your friendship. Let us bring the fuel, let us prepare your offerings, arranging them at each sacred time. For the sake of life, make a safe crossing for our thoughts—Agni, may we not come to harm in your friendship. May we be able to kindle you well; through you, may the gods accept the offered oblation. Bring the Ādityas here, for indeed we call—Agni, may we not come to harm in your friendship. At your rising, O Sun, I praise you, Mitra, and Varuṇa, and Aryaman, the beneficent ones. This thought, shining like gold, is for the mighty, the uninjuring, for strength and wisdom, for insight. May we belong to you, O Varuṇa; may we belong to you, O Mitra, together with the wise; may we obtain nourishment and well-being. Break apart all hatreds, drive away obstacles, strike down the foes, and bring us that desirable wealth.
