Having purified himself, the god Agni rises, steadfast in his vows. Brimming with his own divine essence, he fills the other gods, invigorating all with his radiant presence. Clad in the garments of truth, Agni upholds the sacred laws, and on the unshaken summit, ten fingers guard and honor him. To you, O Agni, the undying and radiant one, we kindle the sacred fire. May your most glorious strength shine forth in the moments of battle; when you are kindled, grant the singers their heavenly share. With hymns and offerings, we call out to you, lord of shining light, wondrous and bright, carrier of our prayers—bring nourishment and sustenance for those who sing your praises. For you, O bright lord of the people, both ladles have been filled. May you be satisfied by our hymns, O mighty one, and bring nourishment for the singers. Now, let the Sāman song be raised for Indra—the inspired, the great, the mighty, the wise creator of prayer, worthy of all praise. Indra, you are all-conquering; you made the sun shine and are the maker of all, the universal god, the great one. With radiant light, the gods swiftly journey to the realm of illumination, and you, Indra, have entered into friendship with them. Soma has been pressed for you, O Indra, most mighty; come with your strength filled, as the sun fills the sky with its rays. Mount your chariot, O slayer of Vṛtra, your two bay horses yoked by prayer. May the sacred stone, with its fire, draw your mind toward us. Indra’s two bays, whose might none can withstand, carry him to the well-praised songs of the seers and the sacrifices of humankind. The radiant one, delight of the sacrifice, beloved and sweet, flows forth—the father of the gods, creator of riches. He bestows treasure worthy of praise, most gladdening, the exhilarating, powerful essence. Resounding and vigorous, he rushes to the vessel, the lord of heaven, streaming in a hundred currents, discerning and tawny, seated in the dwellings of Mitra, purified by the rivers, a bull with the streams. Foremost among rivers, purified, he rushes forth; foremost in speech, he moves among the cows. Foremost in strength, Soma, well-armed, wins great wealth with those who press him. The swift, strong, bull-like Somas flow forth for wealth in cattle, for horses, shining with heroic vigor. Shining and purified by the hands of those who live by truth, cleansed between two hands, they flow in the unchanging channel. May all the treasures—divine and earthly, and those of the midspace—flow to the worshipper, O Somas. Purify yourself with divine power in the filter, O delightful Soma; enter, mighty drop, into the hosts of Indra. Speak forth, O mighty, abundant, bull Soma, most glorious; enter your appointed place, your sacred seat. The dear, sweet juice has been milked, the streams of the pressed and inspired one; the waters flow for you, O wise one. The great rivers flow towards you, O Soma, great one, when you are adorned with the cows. The ocean is cleansed in the waters, the support and foundation of heaven; Soma, purified, remains ever youthful. The mighty, tawny one bellows greatly, wondrous like Mitra, shining together with the sun. O Indra, the songs are cleansed by your strength, far-seeing one, with which you adorn yourself for exhilaration. For your exhilaration, we seek you, the swift, the maker of worlds, for your great praise. O Indu, you are the delight of cows, of men, of horses, and of strength; you are the ancient spirit of sacrifice. Pour forth your invigorating power for us, O Indu, flow with sweetness like a rain-bringing cloud. Ever victorious and triumphant, O purified Soma, grant us great renown, and then bestow prosperity upon us. Bestow everlasting light, everlasting radiance, and all good fortunes, O Soma, and then prosperity. Grant us everlasting skill and wisdom, O Soma, drive away our foes, and then bestow prosperity upon us. Let the purifiers cleanse Soma for Indra to drink, and then bestow prosperity upon us. Like the Sun, you bring us together by your power and your aids, and then bestow prosperity upon us. By your power and your aids, may we always see the Sun, and then bestow prosperity upon us. Advance, O Soma, with your own weapon, bring us wealth that is doubly strong, and then bestow prosperity upon us. Advance, unconquered and victorious in contests, winning prizes in battles, and then bestow prosperity upon us. You, purified one, have been magnified by sacrifices in the sacred rite, and then bestow prosperity upon us. Bring us splendid, all-encompassing wealth, O Indu, renowned among all, and then bestow prosperity upon us. The exhilarating stream of the pressed Soma rushes forth; the exhilarating stream rushes forth. The dawn knows the treasures of mortals, the divine sustenance; the exhilarating stream rushes forth. From the two rich ones, we have received thousands of gifts; the exhilarating stream rushes forth. From those whose thirty offspring and thousands we have received; the exhilarating stream rushes forth.
