May even Rudra be gracious to us, the Ashvins, all the gods, the chariot-lord, Bhaga, Ribhus, Vaja, Ribhukshan, Parijman, all-knowing ones.
Ribhu, Ribhukshan, Ribhu the skillful, your exhilaration is for you, O steeds of the eager one; whose song, indeed, is hard to surpass, whose sacrifice is not of mortals.
Grant us, O god Savitar, unwearied strength; and for this I praise the generous ones. May Indra, with his fires, bind the wheel and the spoke for these peoples.
Upon these, O Heaven and Earth, bestow great fame among men for us, O all-people; abundant wealth for the gaining of strength, abundant riches and swift bounty.
This praise, O Indra, we have uttered for you, even if it be humble, O mighty one, for your favor; always protect us for our welfare, grant us wisdom and knowledge, O generous one.
This hymn of mine, like sons to the Sun, has grown radiant, increasing among men; united, not to be cast aside, well-fashioned like a chariot.
Their wealth revolves, yoked together, golden; their manly deeds, like wheels, are not in vain, but reach their goal.
I proclaim this for the mighty, for the broad-armed, for the generous lords; who, having yoked five hundred, make their paths resound, worthy of being heard.
Here, seventy and seven have been harnessed; at once they were set in motion, at once the earthly, at once the magical ones.
Let these speak forth, let us too speak forth; let your speech be addressed to the stones, to those who speak. When the stones, mountains together, with speed, bring forth song and sound for Indra, the Soma-drinker.
These speak, as if a hundred years, a thousand years; they cry out together with their green backs. The well-made pressing stones, by their skill, even the first Hotar has pressed the fresh offering.
These speak, though they know not the honey; they press down upon the cooked flesh. On the branch of the reddish tree they rest, these strong bulls, longing for the Soma, have roared forth.
Loudly they speak, intoxicated with the sweet, calling to Indra, they know not the honey. Stirred up, the wise ones, with their sisters, have moved, resounding upon the earth with their bands.
The fair-winged ones have uttered speech; above, the black, impelling ones have resounded in their courses. They move downward to the lower resting place; many streams, shining like the sun, have borne the seed.
Mighty as they rush forth, they come together, yoked together, strong ones bearing the yoke. As they breathe, they roar, eager in their work; listen to their thunder, like the neighing of horses.
Ten on the base, ten on the sides, ten on the yokes, ten on the spans; let the ten whips, ageless, resound, for the ten yokes, the ten yoked ones who bear the burden.
These stones, with ten bands, are swift; their setting is delightful as they move around. They have taken the first draught of the sweet Soma, the essence of the pressed juice.
From the Soma, the two bay steeds of Indra draw near, extracting the juice, they settle upon the cow. With them, Indra has drunk the sweet Soma milked out, and by it he grows, spreads, and becomes mighty.
Your portion is strong, never failing, always present, never diminished. Stand firm with radiant might, as in the splendor of Raivata, you stones who have delighted in the sacrifice.
Firm, unwearied, unshaken, immortal are these stones; untroubled, ageless, steadfast, vast, well-nourished, unsated, born of thirstlessness.
Truly your fathers, desiring safety, have yoked you in every age, as to a seat. Undecaying, golden-hued, with golden motion, they have made the heavens and earth resound with their roar.
Thus the stones speak at the release, as horses neigh with their harness. Pouring out the seed as if sowing grain, they press the Soma, never failing, ever eager.
At the pressing, at the sacrifice, they have uttered speech, like playful sons striking their mother. Release, O stones, the wise ones who have pressed out the juice; let them roll forth, eager in their work.
O wife, remain steadfast in mind; let us now compose our words together, even in this dread. These spells of ours have not been uttered in vain; they bring us happiness, even across the farther shore.
What shall I do with these words of yours? I will depart, like the first light of dawn. O Purūravas, go back again to your home; I am hard to reach, like the wind.
Like an arrow from the quiver, like the rush of a hundred cows, my speed is swift. In a man without strength, the resolve is scattered, as the streams disperse the waters, not even the wise can grasp the measure.
She, bearing wealth, goes to her father-in-law's house, if the dawn so wills, from the near home. I have reached the setting, where the path bends, bound at night by the Vaitasa cord.
Three times in the day the Vaitasa cords have bound me, and you, O unchanging one, have filled me with longing. O Purūravas, after your sign, this king, my hero, that was my body.
That well-joined line, full of favor, like a heart's vision, not knotted, swift-moving—those bright, ruddy ones have run forth for glory, like cows, like milch cows, bringing forth.
At my birth, the divine ladies sat together, and the waters, praised, increased. When the gods made you, O Purūravas, great for battle, for the slaying of foes.
