Both races have made this Agni, steadfast in law, the accomplisher of the assembly, like a strong bull, the priest of the dawns, the son of strength, the tawny one, who sits as the house-priest.
We seek the guidance of the strong one and the path of the treasure-keeper; by his call, we desire his lordship. When the fierce ones attained immortality, they scattered the people of the divine with their praise.
For the course of truth is vast, the sky is wide, and reverence, great and abundant, is to be sought. Indra, Mitra, Varuṇa have considered it; so too Bhaga and Savitṛ, pure in insight.
With Rudra as their leader, the rivers flow, spreading wide, bearing abundant water. With these, the far-striding one, moving around, brings forth wide offspring; in his womb, all is set free.
The Rudras, Maruts, all the peoples, the celestial eagles, the guardians of the mighty— with these, Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman, Indra, and the gods, the swift ones, behold all.
On Indra's arm, the eager ones have relied; the sun in vision, the mighty in manliness. For whom, indeed, the skilled have fashioned the fitting thunderbolt, yoked in the seat of men.
Even the sun, the bright one, delights in his strength; none is feared more than Indra. From the belly of the fearsome bull, the mighty, the thunder roars day by day, repelling the foe.
Today offer praise to Rudra, the mighty, the protector of heroes, with reverence. By whom the gracious one, self-praised, with his own bands, rules the heavens with his own glory.
For they bore forth wide fame for their offspring— Bṛhaspati, the bull, born of Soma. With sacrifices, Atharvan first upheld the gods; by their skill, the Bhṛgus have considered.
For they, Heaven and Earth, rich in seed, Naraśaṃsa, fourfold Yama, Aditi, the god Tvaṣṭṛ, the giver of wealth, the skillful Ṛbhus— the two worlds, the Maruts, Viṣṇu, are invoked.
And may the wise serpent, the far-seeing one, the deep-dweller, hear our invocation. The sun and the dawns, moving among the dwellings of heaven, may the two priests, Śamī and Nahūṣa, awaken to this.
May Pūṣan guard our journey, all the gods, the son of the waters, and Vāyu for our welfare. Praise the breath of the wealthy one; may the two Aśvins, easily invoked, hear our call as they travel.
We praise with hymns the lord over all peoples, fearless, self-glorious. With all the goddesses, with Aditi, faultless, the youthful, the wise, the master of the house.
Here, the ancient Angiras, by birth, the stones, raised up their gaze towards the sacrifice. By these, the wise one became far-seeing, having abandoned the fetters; the strong will, rich in gifts, has delighted in the forest.
Great Heaven and Earth, be vast and broad, like two women, like two strong ones, be our shelter. With these, protect us from the foe; with these, guard us from harm.
In every sacrifice, the mortal worships the gods; he who, with gracious thoughts, most widely renowned, invokes them with these offerings.
All the swift ones, the mighty among the gods, are worthy of worship; for all, truly, are of great might, all are to be honored in sacrifices.
These indeed are the kings, delightful with immortality: Aryaman, Mitra, Varuna, Parijman, swift Rudra, praised among men, the Maruts, Pushan, and Bhaga.
May the mighty, bountiful lords of night and waters, the Sun, the Dawn, with their abodes of plenty, be with us; and may Budhnya, who dwells in the deep, join with them.
May the divine Ashvins, lords of beauty, and Mitra and Varuna, with their powers, grant us wide protection; may he who seeks great wealth cross over hardships as over a desert.
May even Rudra be gracious to us, the Ashvins, all the gods, the chariot-lord, Bhaga, Ribhus, Vaja, Ribhukshan, Parijman, all-knowing ones.
Ribhu, Ribhukshan, Ribhu the skillful, your exhilaration is for you, O steeds of the eager one; whose song, indeed, is hard to surpass, whose sacrifice is not of mortals.
Grant us, O god Savitar, unwearied strength; and for this I praise the generous ones. May Indra, with his fires, bind the wheel and the spoke for these peoples.
Upon these, O Heaven and Earth, bestow great fame among men for us, O all-people; abundant wealth for the gaining of strength, abundant riches and swift bounty.
This praise, O Indra, we have uttered for you, even if it be humble, O mighty one, for your favor; always protect us for our welfare, grant us wisdom and knowledge, O generous one.
This hymn of mine, like sons to the Sun, has grown radiant, increasing among men; united, not to be cast aside, well-fashioned like a chariot.
Their wealth revolves, yoked together, golden; their manly deeds, like wheels, are not in vain, but reach their goal.
I proclaim this for the mighty, for the broad-armed, for the generous lords; who, having yoked five hundred, make their paths resound, worthy of being heard.
Here, seventy and seven have been harnessed; at once they were set in motion, at once the earthly, at once the magical ones.
Let these speak forth, let us too speak forth; let your speech be addressed to the stones, to those who speak. When the stones, mountains together, with speed, bring forth song and sound for Indra, the Soma-drinker.
