This praised king, the wise, the singer, crosses over the waters, his own boundary; he, shaking the fire with branches, like a wheel's rim, stirs the swift-moving, restless one.
He, the two-boundary Vaitaraṇa, the worshipper, would milk the ever-yielding cow, the horse; when Mitra and Varuṇa join together with hymns, Aryaman with the eldest guardians.
That kinsman, the sage, has placed your thought in heaven, the closest navel, the singer proclaims; may that navel be ours, whether far or near—may I, even afterwards, attain to it in some way.
This is my navel, here is my seat; these are my gods, I am all this; the twice-born, the first-born of truth, this cow, newly calved, has yielded her milk.
Then the gentle, restless, shining one will be, the two-turning, eager for praise; when the upright line, like a child, is born, the mother sets forth the firm, ever-growing offspring.
Then the cows followed the guidance of Kanāyā, after the barking of some dog; hear us, O you of rich gifts, you who prosper with the praises of the horse-slayer, with true words.
So, O Indra, strike for us, mighty king, strong-armed, for great wealth; protect us, O generous one, guard our heroes; without fail, O Hariva, in your favor.
So when the kings strive for the cow, Saraṇyu runs for the poet, Jaraṇyu; the inspired, most beloved, has become theirs, and he will go forth, or he will cross over with them.
Then, in the fullness of this noble one, we call out, though vainly, with loud voices; Saraṇyu is his son, the horse, and you are the sage, and you are famed for glory.
If for your friendship, for your band, we have offered praise with reverence, in whom all voices, harmonious, gather, as in the past, for the giver, for the winning of true speech.
He, singing, endowed with the gods, with water, the good kinsman, with reverence and hymns; let him grow with praises, with words—now indeed he approaches the milk of the bright cow.
May you, O worshipful gods, united in purpose, become great in strength for our aid; you who bring forth the prizes, who move freely, who stand firm, who are wise and unfailing.
Those who, joined with sacrifice and offering, have sought Indra's friendship and immortality—may the Angirases grant you blessing; accept, O wise ones, the gift of humanity.
Those fathers who, with truth, broke open the enclosure for the cows in the revolving year—may the Angirases grant you long life; accept, O wise ones, the gift of humanity.
Those who, by truth, caused the sun to ascend and spread forth the mother earth and the sky—may the Angirases grant you noble offspring; accept, O wise ones, the gift of humanity.
This one speaks sweetly in your house, O sons of gods, O sages, listen to that; may the Angirases grant you excellent prayers; accept, O wise ones, the gift of humanity.
Those sages of varied forms, trembling in depth, those Angirases, sons, were born around Agni.
Those of varied forms who were born around Agni, around the sky; the nine-cowed, the ten-cowed Angirases, most worthy, are honored among the gods.
With Indra as ally, they send forth the prize-rich herd, the Ashvins; the eight-eared ones, giving thousands, have made fame among the gods.
Now let this Manu be born, let him rise as a child; he who desires to give thousands and a hundred horses at once.
No one attains him, like the sky with its shining light; Sāvarṇya's offering spreads out like a river.
Even the servants, with their appointed tasks and cow protection, have honored us; Turvasha and Yadu have praised me.
Let the leader who gives thousands not suffer harm; let Manu's offering strive with the sun; may the gods of Sāvarṇa grant long life, in whom we, tireless, have gained the prize.
Those who, from afar, seek the ancient, beloved by Manu, the birth of Vivasvat; those who sit on Yayāti's and Nahusha's sacrificial grass, O gods, may they speak for us.
All your names are to be revered and praised, O gods, and your sacrificial acts; you who are born from Aditi, from the waters, you of the earth, may you hear my call here.
From whom the mother pours sweet milk, nourishing nectar, the sky, Aditi, and the sacrificial grass; those Adityas, strong in hymns and mighty, bring joy for our welfare.
With human vision, unwavering, worthy of honor, the great gods have sought immortality; riding in light, free from deceit, sinless, they dwell in the heights of heaven for our welfare.
Those sovereigns, well-nourished, who have come to the sacrifice, unassailed, have established their abode in heaven; to them I call with reverence and praise, the great Adityas, Aditi, for our welfare.
Who will praise the hymn that you all, O gods, delight in, which mortals offer? Who will make your sacrifice pleasing, O mighty-born? May you lead us past distress for our welfare.
To those for whom Manu, with kindled fire and mind, first performed the priestly rite with seven priests—O Ādityas, grant us fearless shelter; make our paths easy and lead us to well-being.
