Who seeks, who is praised, who is feared, who thinks Indra is present, who is near? Who for offspring, who for wealth, who for himself, who for people, will declare?
Who desires Agni with oblation, with ghee, with ladle, with fixed seasons? For whom do the gods swiftly bear the offering? Who thinks the well-worshipped priest is good?
You alone, O god, most mighty, are praised; no one but you, O generous Indra, is a helper to mortals. I speak this word to you.
May your gifts, may your aids, O treasure-giver, never fail us at any time. Measure out to us all human wealth, O lord of people.
Those who shine forth, like races, the sons of Rudra, wise, set out; for the Maruts have made the two worlds grow, the heroes rejoice, eager in the contests.
They, the sprinkled ones, have attained greatness; the Rudras have established their seat in heaven. Praising, they produce the hymn, they generate strength; the speckled-mothered ones have taken up glory.
When the cows, adorned with bright ointments, move forth, their shining bodies bear the marks of beauty; they drive away every hostile force, and along their paths flows the clarified butter.

Those Maruts, resplendent, well-armed with spears, shake even the unshakable by their might; swift as thought, O Maruts, you yoke the spotted steeds to your chariots, a strong band of heroes.
When you yoke the spotted steeds to your chariots, O Maruts, speeding to the prize, you shatter the rock; the streams of the red one burst forth, and, like water on a hide, you scatter them over the earth.
Let the seven swift-moving ones bring you here, O Maruts, with agile strength; come forth with your arms, take your seat on the wide sacred grass, rejoice, O Maruts, in the sweet libation.
They, mighty in their own power, grew in greatness, stood in the sky, and made a broad seat; when Viṣṇu strode forth, the bull, overflowing with delight, like birds they settled on the beloved sacred grass.

When Tvaṣṭṛ fashioned the well-made, golden thunderbolt with a thousand edges, the wise one, Indra took it to perform heroic deeds; with it he struck down Vṛtra and released the waters into the ocean.
With their strength they drove the cloud upward, they split even the firm mountain; blowing the trumpet, O generous Maruts, in the joy of Soma, they performed glorious deeds.
They drove the crooked cloud in that direction, they poured the stream for the thirsty Gotama; coming with their shining help, they satisfied the desire of the inspired one with their gifts.
Whatever shelter you have for the one who seeks joy, whatever threefold protections for the worshipper, grant those to us, O Maruts; bestow wealth upon us, O mighty ones, and heroic sons.
He in whose dwelling the Maruts, sons of the great sky, abide—he is the most well-guarded among men.
Whether by sacrifices, O bearers of the offering, or by the thoughts of the inspired, O Maruts, hear the call.
And he whose swift ones follow after the inspired, he will go to the herd rich in cattle.
For this hero, on the sacred grass, the pressed Soma is praised in the heavenly places, with hymn and with exhilaration.

You, truly mighty, reveal that power in greatness; strike down the demon with your lightning.

Drive away the hidden darkness, scatter all that restrains; make light, for you are strong.
With forward faces, with forward might, shining, unbending, steadfast, straight-moving, most welcome, most manly, adorned with ornaments, some among you are like bright mares with harness.

When you, Maruts, rush in the valleys like birds, by some path, the vessels pour out, on your chariots, ghee flows, honey-colored, to be praised.
The earth trembles beneath your chariots as you yoke them for the journey; your playful, shaking, shining-eyed bands themselves manifest greatness.
For he, the young troop with dappled horses, is self-born, powerful, surrounded by strength; you are true, debtless, praiseworthy, the protector of this prayer, the mighty troop.
