धनं न स्यन्द्रं बहुलं यो अस्मै तीव्रान्सोमाँ आसुनोति प्रयस्वान् । तस्मै शत्रून्सुतुकान्प्रातरह्नो नि स्वष्ट्रान्युवति हन्ति वृत्रम्
He who, eager, offers you, O Indra, strong Soma, for him wealth flows abundantly; for him you strike down enemies and rivals in the morning, with your own weapon you slay the Vṛtra.
यस्मिन्वयं दधिमा शंसमिन्द्रे यः शिश्राय मघवा काममस्मे । आराच्चित्सन्भयतामस्य शत्रुर्न्यस्मै द्युम्ना जन्या नमन्ताम्
In whom we place our praise, in Indra, who has shown us favor, O bountiful one, fulfill our desire; even from afar let the enemy fear him, let all glories bow before him.
आराच्छत्रुमप बाधस्व दूरमुग्रो यः शम्बः पुरुहूत तेन । अस्मे धेहि यवमद्गोमदिन्द्र कृधी धियं जरित्रे वाजरत्नाम्
Drive the enemy far away, O mighty one, as you, much-invoked, have done before; grant us, O Indra, barley and cattle, bestow wisdom and prize-winning strength upon the singer.
प्र यमन्तर्वृषसवासो अग्मन्तीव्राः सोमा बहुलान्तास इन्द्रम् । नाह दामानं मघवा नि यंसन्नि सुन्वते वहति भूरि वामम्
The strong, abundant, and potent Somās have come to Indra; Maghavan does not restrain his generosity, but carries much wealth to the one who presses (the Soma).
उत प्रहामतिदीव्या जयाति कृतं यच्छ्वघ्नी विचिनोति काले । यो देवकामो न धना रुणद्धि समित्तं राया सृजति स्वधावान्
Indeed, the swift and radiant one prevails, she who searches out what is done at the proper time; he who desires the gods does not withhold wealth, the self-sustaining one releases prosperity to the friend.
गोभिष्टरेमामतिं दुरेवां यवेन क्षुधं पुरुहूत विश्वाम् । वयं राजभिः प्रथमा धनान्यस्माकेन वृजनेना जयेम
With cows, with barley, with all kinds of food, O much-invoked one, we would conquer distant enemies; may we, with our leaders, win the foremost riches by our own striving.
* बृहस्पतिर्नः परि पातु पश्चादुतोत्तरस्मादधरादघायोः । इन्द्रः पुरस्तादुत मध्यतो नः सखा सखिभ्यो वरिवः कृणोतु
May Bṛhaspati protect us from behind, from above, and from below, from harm; may Indra protect us in front and in the middle, and as a friend, grant passage to his friends.
अच्छा म इन्द्रं मतयः स्वर्विदः सध्रीचीर्विश्वा उशतीरनूषत । परि ष्वजन्ते जनयो यथा पतिं मर्यं न शुन्ध्युं मघवानमूतये
All our thoughts, radiant and harmonious, approach Indra, knowing the light; they embrace him as people embrace their lord, as a noble youth, Maghavan, for help.
न घा त्वद्रिगप वेति मे मनस्त्वे इत्कामं पुरुहूत शिश्रय । राजेव दस्म नि षदोऽधि बर्हिष्यस्मिन्सु सोमेऽवपानमस्तु ते
My mind does not turn away from you, O Indra; in you alone, O much-invoked one, I place my desire; like a king, O wondrous one, sit upon this sacred grass, and let this Soma be your drink.
विषूवृदिन्द्रो अमतेरुत क्षुधः स इद्रायो मघवा वस्व ईशते । तस्येदिमे प्रवणे सप्त सिन्धवो वयो वर्धन्ति वृषभस्य शुष्मिणः
Indra, who increases abundance and removes hunger, is the lord of wealth; for him, in the channel, seven rivers grow strong, nourished by the might of the bull.
वयो न वृक्षं सुपलाशमासदन्सोमास इन्द्रं मन्दिनश्चमूषदः । प्रैषामनीकं शवसा दविद्युतद्विदत्स्वर्मनवे ज्योतिरार्यम्
Like birds settling on a tree with fine leaves, the pressing stones approach Indra, the joyous one; his face flashes with power like lightning, he knows the light for the new day.
कृतं न श्वघ्नी वि चिनोति देवने संवर्गं यन्मघवा सूर्यं जयत् । न तत्ते अन्यो अनु वीर्यं शकन्न पुराणो मघवन्नोत नूतनः
The swift one searches out what is done for the gods, conquering the sun, O Maghavan; no other, neither ancient nor new, can match your heroic power.
विशंविशं मघवा पर्यशायत जनानां धेना अवचाकशद्वृषा । यस्याह शक्रः सवनेषु रण्यति स तीव्रैः सोमैः सहते पृतन्यतः
Maghavan has distributed among all the people, the bull has called forth the cows for the tribes; he whom Śakra delights in at the sacrifices, he withstands the fierce ones with strong Somās.
आपो न सिन्धुमभि यत्समक्षरन्सोमास इन्द्रं कुल्या इव ह्रदम् । वर्धन्ति विप्रा महो अस्य सादने यवं न वृष्टिर्दिव्येन दानुना
Like waters flowing to the river, the pressing stones approach Indra as streams to a lake; the sages increase his greatness at the seat, like barley growing with divine rain.
वृषा न क्रुद्धः पतयद्रजस्स्वा यो अर्यपत्नीरकृणोदिमा अपः । स सुन्वते मघवा जीरदानवेऽविन्दज्ज्योतिर्मनवे हविष्मते
Like a bull, enraged, he rushes through the spaces, he who has made the waters for Arya's wives; Maghavan finds light for the sacrificer who presses Soma for long life.
उज्जायतां परशुर्ज्योतिषा सह भूया ऋतस्य सुदुघा पुराणवत् । वि रोचतामरुषो भानुना शुचिः स्वर्ण शुक्रं शुशुचीत सत्पतिः
Let the axe shine forth with light, let the cow of truth yield abundantly as before; let the bright one shine with his radiance, let the pure lord of good shine with golden brilliance.
गोभिष्टरेमामतिं दुरेवां यवेन क्षुधं पुरुहूत विश्वाम् । वयं राजभिः प्रथमा धनान्यस्माकेन वृजनेना जयेम

आ यात्विन्द्रः स्वपतिर्मदाय यो धर्मणा तूतुजानस्तुविष्मान् । प्रत्वक्षाणो अति विश्वा सहांस्यपारेण महता वृष्ण्येन
Let Indra, lord of his own, come for exhilaration, he who, by his law, is powerful and praiseworthy; with broad vision, he surpasses all obstacles by his immense strength.
सुष्ठामा रथः सुयमा हरी ते मिम्यक्ष वज्रो नृपते गभस्तौ । शीभं राजन्सुपथा याह्यर्वाङ्वर्धाम ते पपुषो वृष्ण्यानि
Your chariot is well-made, your horses are well-yoked, O lord; the thunderbolt shines in your hand, O king; come by the good path, O ruler, let your strength grow and flourish.
एन्द्रवाहो नृपतिं वज्रबाहुमुग्रमुग्रासस्तविषास एनम् । प्रत्वक्षसं वृषभं सत्यशुष्ममेमस्मत्रा सधमादो वहन्तु
Let Indra's team bring the lord, the thunder-armed king, the mighty ones, strong and powerful, bring him; let them bring the bull with true might, with us, to the shared feast.
एवा पतिं द्रोणसाचं सचेतसमूर्ज स्कम्भं धरुण आ वृषायसे । ओजः कृष्व सं गृभाय त्वे अप्यसो यथा केनिपानामिनो वृधे
Thus, unite with the lord who holds the vessel, who is mindful, who is the pillar of strength and support; take up vigor, grasp it, and in your own way, as those who are renowned for their deeds, grow in might.
गमन्नस्मे वसून्या हि शंसिषं स्वाशिषं भरमा याहि सोमिनः । त्वमीशिषे सास्मिन्ना सत्सि बर्हिष्यनाधृष्या तव पात्राणि धर्मणा
Come to us with riches, for I praise you and bring you the best wishes; approach, O Soma-bearer. You rule, you sit here, you are established on the sacred grass, and your vessels are secured by your law.
पृथक्प्रायन्प्रथमा देवहूतयोऽकृण्वत श्रवस्यानि दुष्टरा । न ये शेकुर्यज्ञियां नावमारुहमीर्मैव ते न्यविशन्त केपयः
The first divine offerings were made separately, glorious and hard to overcome; those who could not ascend the sacrificial ship, let them not settle among the wise.
एवैवापागपरे सन्तु दूढ्योऽश्वा येषां दुर्युज आयुयुज्रे । इत्था ये प्रागुपरे सन्ति दावने पुरूणि यत्र वयुनानि भोजना
Let those who are distant and those who are near be united; their horses, difficult to harness, are yoked. Thus, those who are earlier and those who are later are gathered where there are many acts and provisions.
गिरीँरज्रान्रेजमानाँ अधारयद्द्यौः क्रन्ददन्तरिक्षाणि कोपयत् । समीचीने धिषणे वि ष्कभायति वृष्णः पीत्वा मद उक्थानि शंसति
The trembling mountains held firm, the sky thundered, and the midspace was stirred in anger. The wise one, aligned, spreads out, and the mighty one, having drunk the exhilaration, proclaims hymns.
इमं बिभर्मि सुकृतं ते अङ्कुशं येनारुजासि मघवञ्छफारुजः । अस्मिन्सु ते सवने अस्त्वोक्यं सुत इष्टौ मघवन्बोध्याभगः
I hold this good goad for you, by which you break, O Maghavan, the hoofs of the enemy. In this pressing, let your power be present; in the offering, O Maghavan, be awake to the share.
गोभिष्टरेमामतिं दुरेवां यवेन क्षुधं पुरुहूत विश्वाम् । वयं राजभिः प्रथमा धनान्यस्माकेन वृजनेना जयेम
With cows, with barley, dispel far-off hostility, O much-invoked, and all hunger. May we, with the foremost kings, win wealth by our own assembly.
बृहस्पतिर्नः परि पातु पश्चादुतोत्तरस्मादधरादघायोः । इन्द्रः पुरस्तादुत मध्यतो नः सखा सखिभ्यो वरिवः कृणोतु
Let Brihaspati protect us from behind, from above, and from below, from harm. Let Indra be before us, and in the middle, our friend; may he make a path for friends.
दिवस्परि प्रथमं जज्ञे अग्निरस्मद्द्वितीयं परि जातवेदाः । तृतीयमप्सु नृमणा अजस्रमिन्धान एनं जरते स्वाधीः
Agni was first born from the sky; from us, the second, the knower of all births. The third, in the waters, is ceaselessly kindled; the self-born nurture him.
