Whose greatness this people, like the wind, would attain; the inspired one, with hymns, has recognized you both among those praised.
He knows the praises—Indra, and Pūṣan the mighty; eager, he urges on, like a herd, he urges on.
We desire you, O god Pūṣan, for ourselves; the accomplishment of thoughts and the help of the inspired ones.
The winner of the sacrifices, the chariots swift as horses; he is the seer, the chosen of Manu, the inspired one's restraining friend.
The lord of the one who seeks, of the pure and the pure one; O Vāyu, you have cleansed the garments of the wearers.
He is the lord of prizes, our friend of abundance; his tawny beard has grown, who is unassailable.
To your chariot, Pūṣan, the goats have turned the yoke; friend of all who seek, born together, unfailing.
May Pūṣan, strong in might, harness our chariot of strength; may he, the increaser of prizes, hear this our call.
Among those who are not, O singer, I am the one with force, when I prepare for the pressing for the sacrificing worshipper; I am the giver of curses, the smiter, upholding truth, I destroy the one who seeks evil.
If I, for battle, gather together those who do not worship the gods, those who are intent on themselves; then I cook for you, O mighty bull, a strong, pressed Soma, the fifteenth, and pour it out.
I do not know him who says thus, who has slain the godless in battle; when he proclaims the battle as dangerous, then indeed my bulls speak forth.
When I was among the unknown in the settlements, all the generous ones were with me; I conquer, I know the secure one, I destroy him, grasping his foot on the mountain.
Neither in the settlement do they restrain me, nor do the mountains, when I set my mind; at the sound of my roar, their ears are made to tremble, and the sun's rays move together.
Here, seeing those without Indra, who are drinkers of liquor, who are struck down by arrows and fall, or those who have spoken ill of a friend, or who have turned away from the young ones among them.
The oxen have come forth, life has departed; the earlier and the later ones have appeared. Two winds circle around him, but none has reached the far side of his realm.
The cows, yoked for barley, the Aryas counted them; I saw them wandering together with their herdsmen. The Aryas call them all together, but how many among them does the master choose according to his will?
When we, among the people, eat the barley, I eat barley within the enclosure. Here, the yoked one seeks the one who brings down, but the unyoked one is harnessed by the one who wishes to drive.
Here, for you, I speak truthfully what is from flesh, what is from two-footed and four-footed beings. Whoever here, with women, divides the virile one in battle, I know how to apportion his share.
Whose daughter is born without dice, who knows her, who would desire the blind one? Who would loosen her bonds, who would carry her, who would wish to marry her?
How much is a woman cherished by her husband, surrounded by affection and desirable gifts? The bride is fortunate when she is well adorned; she herself chooses her friend among the people.
The frog has awakened, eats facing backward, with its head it places a shield. Sitting upright, it dries itself, lying flat it follows the ground.
The one with broad shade, without leaves, stands nearby; the mother, pierced, eats the embryo. Another, the cow, measures the calf, and by what means did the pregnant cow place it within herself?
Seven heroes rose from below, lost from the north, they came together at the end. Nine from the west, standing, arrived; ten from the east, they traverse the ridges, eating.
Of ten, one is tawny and common; they urge him for the ritual and for the crossing. The mother carries the well-nourished embryo in her breasts, delighting in him, she bears him, content.
The heroes cooked the fat ram; the dice were cast, they sat down to play. Two great bows, with purification, move about, cleansing as they go.
The shouters have gone forth, moving everywhere; the cook is not here, nor is half the wing. This god Savitar has spoken thus: 'Let the running one, the butter-eater, go forth.'
I saw a village being carried away from afar, moving by its own law, rolling on wheels. The Arya sharpens the yoke for the people, suddenly, the young ones, measuring with their phallus, are renewed.
These two cows are yoked for my delight; do not hinder them, let them refresh me again and again. Even the waters of this one are lost for a purpose; the sun and the monkey have become superior.
This thunderbolt, widely spread, has come down from the great dung of the sun. By this, fame is gained; there is something else beyond. By this, the aged cross over without trembling.
From tree to tree, the cow measures; then the young ones fly forth, devouring men. Thus, let all this world be afraid; offer to Indra and learn from the seer.
