स मामृजे तिरो अण्वानि मेष्यो मीळ्हे सप्तिर्न वाजयुः । अनुमाद्यः पवमानो मनीषिभिः सोमो विप्रेभिरृक्वभिः
He has been cleansed, passing through the narrow places, like a sheep in the pen, swift for the prize; the purifying Soma, worthy of praise by the wise, by the inspired singers.
प्र सोम देववीतये सिन्धुर्न पिप्ये अर्णसा । अंशोः पयसा मदिरो न जागृविरच्छा कोशं मधुश्चुतम्
Soma, for the guidance of the gods, has swelled like a river with its flood; lively, with the milk of the stalk, like an awakened one, he approaches the vessel streaming with honey.
आ हर्यतो अर्जुने अत्के अव्यत प्रियः सूनुर्न मर्ज्यः । तमीं हिन्वन्त्यपसो यथा रथं नदीष्वा गभस्त्योः
He has reached the shining, white filter, beloved as a son to be cleansed; the waters drive him as they would a chariot, with their arms, as among the rivers.
अभि सोमास आयवः पवन्ते मद्यं मदम् । समुद्रस्याधि विष्टपि मनीषिणो मत्सरासः स्वर्विदः
The flowing Somas, eager for intoxication, are purified; on the summit of the ocean, the wise, longing for the sun, are bearers of light.
तरत्समुद्रं पवमान ऊर्मिणा राजा देव ऋतं बृहत् । अर्षन्मित्रस्य वरुणस्य धर्मणा प्र हिन्वान ऋतं बृहत्
Purifying, O king, you cross the ocean with your wave, O god, great in truth; you, impelled by the law of Mitra and Varuna, send forth the great truth.
नृभिर्येमानो हर्यतो विचक्षणो राजा देवः समुद्रियः
Guided by men, the golden, discerning king, the god, belonging to the ocean, advances.
इन्द्राय पवते मदः सोमो मरुत्वते सुतः । सहस्रधारो अत्यव्यमर्षति तमी मृजन्त्यायवः
The exhilaration of Soma, pressed for Indra and the Maruts, flows; with a thousand streams, the unconquered one rushes forth, him the flowing ones cleanse.
पुनानश्चमू जनयन्मतिं कविः सोमो देवेषु रण्यति । अपो वसानः परि गोभिरुत्तरः सीदन्वनेष्वव्यत
Purifying, generating the troop, the sage Soma delights among the gods; clothed in waters, surrounded by cows, he sits above, established in the woods.
तवाहं सोम रारण सख्य इन्दो दिवेदिवे । पुरूणि बभ्रो नि चरन्ति मामव परिधीँरति ताँ इहि
To you, Soma, I have declared my friendship, O tawny Indu, day by day; many, O bright one, are the paths that come to me—remove the encircling bonds, come here.
उताहं नक्तमुत सोम ते दिवा सख्याय बभ्र ऊधनि । घृणा तपन्तमति सूर्यं परः शकुना इव पप्तिम
Both by night and by day, O tawny Soma, I seek your friendship at the udder; with fervor, I soar beyond the burning sun, like a bird.
मृज्यमानः सुहस्त्य समुद्रे वाचमिन्वसि । रयिं पिशङ्गं बहुलं पुरुस्पृहं पवमानाभ्यर्षसि
Being cleansed with good hands in the ocean, you stir the voice; you, O purifying one, seek abundant, variegated, much-desired wealth.
मृजानो वारे पवमानो अव्यये वृषाव चक्रदो वने । देवानां सोम पवमान निष्कृतं गोभिरञ्जानो अर्षसि
Cleansed in the unchanging water, O purifying one, you, the bull, have made a wheel in the wood; Soma, purifying, you, adorned with cows, flow to the seat of the gods.
पवस्व वाजसातयेऽभि विश्वानि काव्या । त्वं समुद्रं प्रथमो वि धारयो देवेभ्यः सोम मत्सरः
Flow forth for the gaining of strength, surpassing all poetic works; you, Soma, the first to hold the ocean, are pressed for the gods, O exhilarating one.
स तू पवस्व परि पार्थिवं रजो दिव्या च सोम धर्मभिः । त्वां विप्रासो मतिभिर्विचक्षण शुभ्रं हिन्वन्ति धीतिभिः
So do you flow, Soma, with your laws, through the earthly realm and the divine; the wise priests, with their insight, set you in motion, bright one, with their thoughts.
पवमाना असृक्षत पवित्रमति धारया । मरुत्वन्तो मत्सरा इन्द्रिया हया मेधामभि प्रयांसि च
The flowing ones have streamed through the filter with their current; accompanied by the Maruts, the exhilarating, powerful steeds bring forth wisdom and all courses.
अपो वसानः परि कोशमर्षतीन्दुर्हियानः सोतृभिः । जनयञ्ज्योतिर्मन्दना अवीवशद्गाः कृण्वानो न निर्णिजम्
Clad in waters, the drop rushes around the vessel, the Moon, advancing with the pressers; generating light, delighting the cows, he made the path clear, like one opening the enclosure.
पवस्व मधुमत्तम इन्द्राय सोम क्रतुवित्तमो मदः । महि द्युक्षतमो मदः
Flow, Soma, most sweet, for Indra, bestower of strength, with the most exhilarating intoxication; with the mightiest, most shining exhilaration.
यस्य ते पीत्वा वृषभो वृषायतेऽस्य पीता स्वर्विदः । स सुप्रकेतो अभ्यक्रमीदिषोऽच्छा वाजं नैतशः
By drinking you, the bull becomes more vigorous; those who have drunk become finders of light; he, of excellent insight, has advanced to the gifts, straight to the prize, like a steed.
त्वं ह्यङ्ग दैव्या पवमान जनिमानि द्युमत्तमः । अमृतत्वाय घोषयः
For you, indeed, O purifier, are of divine origins, most radiant; you proclaim immortality.
येना नवग्वो दध्यङ्ङपोर्णुते येन विप्रास आपिरे । देवानां सुम्ने अमृतस्य चारुणो येन श्रवांस्यानशुः
By you, the Navagvas and Dadhyanc were fulfilled; by you, the sages attained; by you, the gods' favor and the lovely immortality, by you, they gained renown.
एष स्य धारया सुतोऽव्यो वारेभिः पवते मदिन्तमः । क्रीळन्नूर्मिरपामिव
This one, pressed with the stream, unclouded, flows most exhilarating; playing like a wave of waters.
य उस्रिया अप्या अन्तरश्मनो निर्गा अकृन्तदोजसा । अभि व्रजं तत्निषे गव्यमश्व्यं वर्मीव धृष्णवा रुज
He who, with strength, cut through the two tawny ones between the stones, has stretched out to the cattle-pen, to horses; like an armored one, break through with boldness.
आ सोता परि षिञ्चताश्वं न स्तोममप्तुरं रजस्तुरम् । वनक्रक्षमुदप्रुतम्
Come, pour out, let the praise flow like a swift horse, powerful, traversing the space, leaping over the wood, surging up.
सहस्रधारं वृषभं पयोवृधं प्रियं देवाय जन्मने । ऋतेन य ऋतजातो विवावृधे राजा देव ऋतं बृहत्
A thousand-streamed, bull, rich in milk, beloved for the birth of the god; by truth, he who is born of truth has grown great, the king, the god, the vast truth.
अभि द्युम्नं बृहद्यश इषस्पते दिदीहि देव देवयुः । वि कोशं मध्यमं युव
Shine forth upon the glory, O lord of riches, with great fame, O god, worthy of worship; enter the middle vessel, young one.
आ वच्यस्व सुदक्ष चम्वोः सुतो विशां वह्निर्न विश्पतिः । वृष्टिं दिवः पवस्व रीतिमपां जिन्वा गविष्टये धियः
Speak forth, O skillful one, pressed in the vessel of Camva, like the fire of the people, lord of the clan; flow as the rain of heaven, as the course of waters, inspire thoughts for the quest of cattle.
एतमु त्यं मदच्युतं सहस्रधारं वृषभं दिवो दुहुः । विश्वा वसूनि बिभ्रतम्
This one, unfailing in intoxication, a thousand-streamed bull, they have milked from the sky; bearing all treasures.
वृषा वि जज्ञे जनयन्नमर्त्यः प्रतपञ्ज्योतिषा तमः । स सुष्टुतः कविभिर्निर्णिजं दधे त्रिधात्वस्य दंससा
The bull was born, generating the immortal, dispelling darkness with light; he, well-praised by the poets, has set forth the path, by the power of the triple foundation.
स सुन्वे यो वसूनां यो रायामानेता य इळानाम् । सोमो यः सुक्षितीनाम्
He is pressed who is the bringer of riches, the leader of treasures, the giver of desires; Soma, who is of the well-settled ones.
यस्य न इन्द्रः पिबाद्यस्य मरुतो यस्य वार्यमणा भगः । आ येन मित्रावरुणा करामह एन्द्रमवसे महे
He, whose Indra drinks, whose Maruts, whose Bhaga, the bestower of boons; by whom Mitra and Varuna are pleased—may we make Indra our great helper through him.
