पवस्व वाजसातमः पवित्रे धारया सुतः । इन्द्राय सोम विष्णवे देवेभ्यो मधुमत्तमः
Purify, bestower of strength, in the filter with your stream, pressed Soma; for Indra, for Vishnu, for the gods, most honeyed.
त्वां रिहन्ति मातरो हरिं पवित्रे अद्रुहः । वत्सं जातं न धेनवः पवमान विधर्मणि
Mothers cherish you, the tawny one, in the filter, O pure; like cows a newborn calf, O purifying one, in your course.
पवमान महि श्रवश्चित्रेभिर्यासि रश्मिभिः । शर्धन्तमांसि जिघ्नसे विश्वानि दाशुषो गृहे
Purifying one, you go forth with great fame, with brilliant rays; you strike down hostile powers in every house of the worshipper.
त्वं द्यां च महिव्रत पृथिवीं चाति जभ्रिषे । प्रति द्रापिममुञ्चथाः पवमान महित्वना
You, with great vow, embrace the sky and the earth; you release the covering, O purifying one, with your greatness.
पुरोजिती वो अन्धसः सुताय मादयित्नवे । अप श्वानं श्नथिष्टन सखायो दीर्घजिह्व्यम्
Let the leaders prepare the Soma for pressing, for delight; friends, drive away the long-tongued dog.
यो धारया पावकया परिप्रस्यन्दते सुतः । इन्दुरश्वो न कृत्व्यः
He who, with stream and fire, flows forth pressed—Indu, like a horse, is fit for action.
तं दुरोषमभी नरः सोमं विश्वाच्या धिया । यज्ञं हिन्वन्त्यद्रिभिः
Men approach that Soma, free from anger, with universal wisdom; they urge the sacrifice with stones.
सुतासो मधुमत्तमाः सोमा इन्द्राय मन्दिनः । पवित्रवन्तो अक्षरन्देवान्गच्छन्तु वो मदाः
The pressed Somas, most honeyed, gladden Indra; filtered, they flow, let your delights reach the gods.
इन्दुरिन्द्राय पवत इति देवासो अब्रुवन् । वाचस्पतिर्मखस्यते विश्वस्येशान ओजसा
Indu is purified for Indra, so the gods have said; lord of speech, master of sacrifice, ruler of all power.
सहस्रधारः पवते समुद्रो वाचमीङ्खयः । सोमः पती रयीणां सखेन्द्रस्य दिवेदिवे
With a thousand streams, Soma is purified, the ocean, seeking speech; Soma is lord of riches, companion of Indra day by day.
अयं पूषा रयिर्भगः सोमः पुनानो अर्षति । पतिर्विश्वस्य भूमनो व्यख्यद्रोदसी उभे
This Pūṣan, the bringer of wealth and fortune, Soma, flows purified; the lord of all abundance, he has revealed both heaven and earth.
समु प्रिया अनूषत गावो मदाय घृष्वयः । सोमासः कृण्वते पथः पवमानास इन्दवः
Together the beloved, eager cows have hastened for exhilaration; the flowing, purified Somas make their paths, the drops proceeding onward.
य ओजिष्ठस्तमा भर पवमान श्रवाय्यम् । यः पञ्च चर्षणीरभि रयिं येन वनामहै
O Purifying One, bring that most powerful glory, by which you surpass the five peoples, by which we may win wealth.
सोमाः पवन्त इन्दवोऽस्मभ्यं गातुवित्तमाः । मित्राः सुवाना अरेपसः स्वाध्यः स्वर्विदः
The purified Soma drops flow for us, bestowing the means of approach; friendly, well-pressed, stainless, self-sustaining, knowers of the light.
सुष्वाणासो व्यद्रिभिश्चिताना गोरधि त्वचि । इषमस्मभ्यमभितः समस्वरन्वसुविदः
Well-pressed by the stones, they have spread out, marked on the skin of the cow; may they bring us nourishment from all sides, bestowers of wealth.
एते पूता विपश्चितः सोमासो दध्याशिरः । सूर्यासो न दर्शतासो जिगत्नवो ध्रुवा घृते
These purified, wise Somas bear their heads high; like suns, they are radiant to behold, steadfast, moving in clarified butter.
प्र सुन्वानस्यान्धसो मर्तो न वृत तद्वचः । अप श्वानमराधसं हता मखं न भृगवः
Let the mortal not reject the word of the one who presses the Soma; drive away the lawless dog, as the Bhṛgus destroyed the demon.
आ जामिरत्के अव्यत भुजे न पुत्र ओण्योः । सरज्जारो न योषणां वरो न योनिमासदम्
The offspring has extended at dawn, like a son in the lap of his parents; he moves swiftly, like a lover to women, like a suitor to his bride's place.
स वीरो दक्षसाधनो वि यस्तस्तम्भ रोदसी । हरिः पवित्रे अव्यत वेधा न योनिमासदम्
That hero, accomplisher of skill, who has upheld heaven and earth, the tawny one has extended in the purifier, like a craftsman to his place of origin.
अव्यो वारेभिः पवते सोमो गव्ये अधि त्वचि । कनिक्रदद्वृषा हरिरिन्द्रस्याभ्येति निष्कृतम्
Soma is purified with streams, on the skin of the cow; the roaring, mighty, tawny one comes forth for Indra, released from the press.
क्राणा शिशुर्महीनां हिन्वन्नृतस्य दीधितिम् । विश्वा परि प्रिया भुवदध द्विता
The child of the great ones, urging on the brightness of truth, has become dear to all; he has encompassed all the beloved, without a second.
उप त्रितस्य पाष्योरभक्त यद्गुहा पदम् । यज्ञस्य सप्त धामभिरध प्रियम्
When he has entered the hidden place of Trita's stone, with the seven abodes of the sacrifice, he has reached the beloved.
त्रीणि त्रितस्य धारया पृष्ठेष्वेरया रयिम् । मिमीते अस्य योजना वि सुक्रतुः
With three supports on the backs, by Trita's power, he measures out wealth; the wise one determines his courses well.
जज्ञानं सप्त मातरो वेधामशासत श्रिये । अयं ध्रुवो रयीणां चिकेत यत्
Seven mothers, creators, have adorned the newborn for glory; this one, steadfast among riches, has perceived what is to be known.
अस्य व्रते सजोषसो विश्वे देवासो अद्रुहः । स्पार्हा भवन्ति रन्तयो जुषन्त यत्
In his ordinance, all the gods, united, are without deceit; the desirable pleasures become delightful when they accept him.
यमी गर्भमृतावृधो दृशे चारुमजीजनन् । कविं मंहिष्ठमध्वरे पुरुस्पृहम्
The twin sisters, growing in truth, have produced a lovely child for vision; a poet, most mighty at the sacrifice, much desired.
समीचीने अभि त्मना यह्वी ऋतस्य मातरा । तन्वाना यज्ञमानुषग्यदञ्जते
In harmony, with their own nature, the swift mothers of truth, shaping the sacrifice, have adorned him, the human-born.
क्रत्वा शुक्रेभिरक्षभिरृणोरप व्रजं दिवः । हिन्वन्नृतस्य दीधितिं प्राध्वरे
With insight, with shining eyes, he has opened the pen of heaven; urging on the brightness of truth, he advances at the sacrifice.
प्र पुनानाय वेधसे सोमाय वच उद्यतम् । भृतिं न भरा मतिभिर्जुजोषते
Raise your voice for the purified Soma, the wise one, as for a sustainer who delights in offerings of thought.
परि वाराण्यव्यया गोभिरञ्जानो अर्षति । त्री षधस्था पुनानः कृणुते हरिः
He, shining with cows, flows through the unexhausted coverings; the tawny one, being purified, makes three abodes.
