And the wise Indu fills the udder of the nourishing one, joining with streams. The cows, with milk, anoint the head in the vessels, with riches, as with ointment.
May you, purified, with the gods, O radiant Indu, bring us wealth, as the Ashvins do, rejoicing. May the generous one, the swift, the provider, bring us the riches of the gods for our enjoyment.
Now, bring us wealth, abundant in men, purified, delightful in all ways. Indu, praised, prolong our life; may the wise, swift, come to us in the morning with thought.
When, upon this, the thoughts contend, as the clans at the sun, seeking glory, the poet, choosing waters, flows, as a herd for the increase of cattle, with his hymn.
With twofold expansion you reveal the immortal realm; the worlds are spread out for the seeker of light. Nourishing thoughts, like cows in their pasture, approach the drop of Soma, moving in accordance with truth.
When the inspired one brings forth his inspired works, like a hero with his chariot, he traverses all the worlds. Among the gods he brings fame, and to mortals he brings adornment, ever new in his abundance of wealth.
Born for splendor, he advances with splendor; he bestows splendid vigor upon the singers. Clothed in splendor, they attain immortality; true in their assemblies, the two friends are united.
Seek nourishment and strength, bring forth the horse and the cow, make wide the light, delight in the gods. For all these, O purified Soma, are easily conquered by you; you drive away all enemies.
The tawny one advances, to be released, purifying himself in the belly of the wood. When he is pressed by men, he makes the path clear; from him, inspired thoughts are born by their own power.
The tawny one, being released, moves along the path of immortality; he raises his voice like a boat on the water. The god reveals the secret names of the gods, which I proclaim upon the sacred grass.
The waves of the waters, surging, move towards Soma with their thoughts. Bowing down, they approach and unite, the shining ones enter the shining one.
They milk him, the purified one, like a mighty bull on the mountain, the flowing one, the bountiful one, dwelling on the heights. The thoughts cling to him as he rushes; Trita bears Varuna in the ocean.
Desiring speech, as an assistant repeats for the priest, you, purified drop, expand the understanding. When you and Indra dwell together for good fortune, may we be lords of heroic strength.
The leader, the hero, stands at the front of the chariots; his army rejoices in seeking cattle. Soma, invoked by Indra, makes blessings for his friends, giving them splendid garments with zeal.
Together his tawny ones cleanse the tawny one with reverence, with horse-drawing powers, unwearied. He stands upon Indra's chariot as a friend, wise, he goes straight to that good favor.
You, god, purify yourself for our divine kinship, O Soma, flowing for Indra's drink, for our great abundance. Making the waters, causing the sky to rain, purify this wide expanse for our welfare.
Purify yourself for conquest, for unharmedness, for well-being, for universal protection, for greatness. All these friends praise that, and so I declare, O purified Soma.
Soma is purified, the generator of thoughts, the generator of heaven, the generator of earth, the generator of Agni, the generator of the sun, the generator of Indra, and also the generator of Vishnu.
The priest among the gods, the path of the sages, the seer among the inspired, the bull among beasts, the eagle among vultures, the sustainer among forests—Soma, roaring, surpasses the filter.
He has spread forth his speech, like a wave of the river; Soma, purified, his thoughts are like songs. Seeing within, he distinguishes the lower and the higher; the bull stands among the cows, knowing.
That exhilarating one, victorious in battles, new in strength, with a thousand streams, has reached the prize. O drop, purified for Indra, stir up the wave, seek the cows and nourishment.
Beloved, in the vessel, driven by the divine wind, Soma, delightful, for Indra's intoxication. With a thousand streams, with a hundred prizes, the drop, like a champion, wins the contest together with his team.
He, ancient and wealth-giving, being born, is purified in the waters, flowing upon the stone; the protector from curses, king of the world, he, being purified, grants a hymn to the priest.
For by you, Soma, our forefathers of old, O purified one, wise, performed their deeds; conquering the foe, surpassing the barriers, be for us, Maghavan, with heroes and horses.
As you, bestower of strength, have flowed for Manu, slayer of foes, knowing the paths, so flow now, bearing wealth, stand firm with Indra, and generate weapons.
Flow, Soma, sweet with truth, clothed in waters, upon the unshaken summit; descend into the vessels filled with ghee, most intoxicating, eager for Indra to drink.
Pour down rain from the sky, a hundred-streamed, thousand-powered, prize-bringing in the divine assembly; mingling with the rivers, enter the vessel, together with the streams, bringing sustenance to life.
This Soma, purified by thoughts, like a horse, a racer, overcomes adversaries; like milk drawn from the cow, swift-flowing, like a well-trained carrier, he widens the path.
Armed with his own weapons, purified with the pressers, advance, revealing the beautiful, secret name; like a victorious chariot, for glory, approach the wind, approach the cows, O god Soma.
The Maruts, with their troop, cleanse and adorn the newly-born, golden child, the fire; the sage, with words and poetry, Soma, roaring, passes through the filter.
