The king of rivers is purified, the lord of heaven, moving along the paths of truth with a resounding voice. The tawny one, with a thousand streams, is poured around, being purified, generating speech, the one who brings wealth.
O Purifier, great wave, you rush forth, wondrous as the sun, unfailing in your courses. Cleansed by the rays, pressed by men with stones, you flow for great strength, for prosperity, for wealth.
O Purifying One, you flow forth for nourishment and strength; like a falcon to its home, you settle in the vessels. The exhilarating draught, pressed for Indra, is your rapture—lofty, discerning, the pillar of the sky.
Seven sisters, together with mothers, have borne the new-born, wondrous, wise child—Soma, the Gandharva of the waters, the divine, visible to men, king of all the worlds.
You, O Soma, master these worlds for increase, harnessing the green-winged ones, O swift-flowing one. May they pour for you honeyed ghee and milk; by your command, Soma, may peoples abide.
You, Soma, are all-seeing among men; O Purifying Bull, you rush everywhere. Flow for us, bringing wealth and gold; may we live long in the worlds.
Rich in cows, bringer of wealth, finder of gold, O Soma, who bears the seed, you are established among the worlds. You are heroic, all-knowing, Soma; to you, the sages come and sing their praises.
The wave of honey, adorned with the waters, has arisen; the mighty bull, clothed in waters, roars forth. The king, whose chariot is the filter, has mounted strength; with a thousand streams, he wins great renown.
He lifts up the bonds, bestowing offspring, life to all, and all bounties day by day. O Soma, grant us, together with Indra, wealth with offspring, horses, and cattle, through the sacred chant.
That exhilarating draught, the tawny, active one, at the head of days, awakens with insight, following the bright ones. Moving between two peoples, he advances, upholding both the praise of men and the divine law.
They adorn themselves, indeed they adorn themselves; together they adorn themselves, they stir the mind, they adorn themselves with honey. With golden hooves, they seize the bull falling in the surge of the river, the beast.
Sing to the wise, purifying one; like a great stream, the Soma flows forth. Like a serpent shedding its old skin, like a horse delighting, the tawny one, the bull, moves onward.
Foremost, kingly, mighty, he shines; the purifier is set in the realms of the days. The tawny one, rich in clarified butter, beautiful, oceanic, with a chariot of light, flows for wealth and shelter.
The pillar is released, raised up in the sky; the exhilaration pervades the triple world. The thoughts stir the Soma, flowing, when the singers, skilled in song, have reached the press.
The streams of the purified one, swift-flowing, move forward for you; the forces of the pressed Soma are restrained and advance. When, O Indu, you are mingled with the cows in the vessel, then, well-pressed Soma, you settle in the jars.
Flow forth, Soma, endowed with insight, worthy of praise; run around the unclouded filter with your beloved sweetness. Strike down all the demons, O Indu, and the malicious ones; let us speak forth with great strength in the assembly.
Run forth, settle around the vessel, purified with men, rush toward the prize; like a swift horse, being cleansed, they lead you to the sacred grass with reins.
Armed with his own power, the god Indu is purified, destroyer of harm, protecting the people; father of the gods, creator, skillful, the support of heaven, the foundation of earth.
A seer, wise, the forerunner of peoples, skillful, thoughtful, inspired by poetry; he alone discovered what was hidden, the secret name of the cows.
This, your honeyed Soma, O Indra, the bull, flows around the filter for the mighty; bearing thousands, hundreds, giving much, he has established the most enduring seat for the prize-winner.
These Somas, seeking cattle, thousands strong, for great strength, for immortality, for fame; purified by filters, the flowing ones have rushed forth, glorious as chariot-fighters in battle.
For you, much-invoked, purified among peoples, winning all food; now bring the offerings carried by the eagle, increasing wealth, rush toward the prize.
This pressed Soma flows around the filter, like a released stream, unimpeded; sharp-toothed, like a buffalo with horns, seeking cows, like a hero with strength.
She has gone forth from the farthest ridge, as if knowing the wide pastures, she has found the cows; like lightning from the sky thundering among the clouds, O Indra, the stream of your Soma is purified.
You, Soma, purified, go around the herd of cows with Indra, yoked together; granting abundant, great, ancient gifts, bestow strength, O powerful one, let them praise you.
This Soma, O Indra, I press for you, for you it is purified; you are its drinker, you have made it, you have strengthened it, Soma for delight, for harnessing.
He, like a chariot with broad seat, is yoked, bringing many great treasures for winning; all the offspring of Nahusha, born of the sun, move upward, delighting in the forest.
Like Vayu with his team, desired at the sacrifice, like the two Asvins at the call, most gracious; like the all-bestowing givers of wealth, like Pushan, swift in thought, so are you, Soma.
You, Soma, are like Indra, who has performed great deeds, the slayer of obstacles; you are the foremost, Soma. Like the thunderbolt-bearer, you are the destroyer of serpentine foes; Soma, you are the vanquisher of every enemy.
You, Soma, are like Agni, released into the woods, who freely creates energies in the rivers. Like a warrior among people, Soma, you, purified, raise a mighty wave in battle.
