अत्यो न हियानो अभि वाजमर्ष स्वर्वित्कोशं दिवो अद्रिमातरम् । वृषा पवित्रे अधि सानो अव्यये सोमः पुनान इन्द्रियाय धायसे
Like a horse, eager, you rush toward the prize, to the resounding vessel, the stone, the mother from heaven; the bull, Soma, is purified on the unaging slope, for strength, for Indra’s enjoyment.
प्र त आश्विनीः पवमान धीजुवो दिव्या असृग्रन्पयसा धरीमणि । प्रान्तरृषय स्थाविरीरसृक्षत ये त्वा मृजन्त्यृषिषाण वेधसः
The swift, divine streams of you, O purified one, have flowed forth with milk into the vessel; the ancient seers, who cleanse you, have sent you forth, O wise one.
विश्वा धामानि विश्वचक्ष ऋभ्वसः प्रभोस्ते सतः परि यन्ति केतवः । व्यानशिः पवसे सोम धर्मभिः पतिर्विश्वस्य भुवनस्य राजसि
All abodes, all-seeing, O Ribhus, the rays of the mighty, abiding one, go around you; Soma, you are purified with laws, you are lord of all beings, you are king.
उभयतः पवमानस्य रश्मयो ध्रुवस्य सतः परि यन्ति केतवः । यदी पवित्रे अधि मृज्यते हरिः सत्ता नि योना कलशेषु सीदति
On both sides, the rays of the purified, steadfast one, go around; when the tawny one is cleansed in the filter, he sits in his place in the vessels.
यज्ञस्य केतुः पवते स्वध्वरः सोमो देवानामुप याति निष्कृतम् । सहस्रधारः परि कोशमर्षति वृषा पवित्रमत्येति रोरुवत्
The sign of sacrifice, the purified, well-ordered Soma, approaches the seat of the gods; with a thousand streams, he circles the vessel, the bull, roaring, passes through the filter.
राजा समुद्रं नद्यो वि गाहतेऽपामूर्मिं सचते सिन्धुषु श्रितः । अध्यस्थात्सानु पवमानो अव्ययं नाभा पृथिव्या धरुणो महो दिवः
The king enters the ocean, the rivers flow apart; he unites with the wave of the waters, established among the streams; the purified one has taken his place on the unaging summit, at the navel of earth, the support of great heaven.
दिवो न सानु स्तनयन्नचिक्रदद्द्यौश्च यस्य पृथिवी च धर्मभिः । इन्द्रस्य सख्यं पवते विवेविदत्सोमः पुनानः कलशेषु सीदति
Like the summit of heaven, thundering, resounding, whose law both heaven and earth observe; Soma, purified, sits in the vessels, seeking the friendship of Indra.
ज्योतिर्यज्ञस्य पवते मधु प्रियं पिता देवानां जनिता विभूवसुः । दधाति रत्नं स्वधयोरपीच्यं मदिन्तमो मत्सर इन्द्रियो रसः
The radiant one of the sacrifice flows, sweet and beloved, father of the gods, creator, all-encompassing; he bestows a precious treasure, worthy of both self-offerings, most intoxicating, powerful, the essence full of might.
अभिक्रन्दन्कलशं वाज्यर्षति पतिर्दिवः शतधारो विचक्षणः । हरिर्मित्रस्य सदनेषु सीदति मर्मृजानोऽविभिः सिन्धुभिर्वृषा
Resounding, he rushes toward the vessel, the prize-seeker, lord of heaven, with a hundred streams, discerning; the tawny one sits in the dwellings of Mitra, purified by the rivers, the bull among streams.
अग्रे सिन्धूनां पवमानो अर्षत्यग्रे वाचो अग्रियो गोषु गच्छति । अग्रे वाजस्य भजते महाधनं स्वायुधः सोतृभिः पूयते वृषा
Foremost among rivers, the purified one rushes forth; foremost in speech, he goes among the cows; foremost in strength, he claims great wealth, armed with his own power, purified by the pressers, the bull.
अयं मतवाञ्छकुनो यथा हितोऽव्ये ससार पवमान ऊर्मिणा । तव क्रत्वा रोदसी अन्तरा कवे शुचिर्धिया पवते सोम इन्द्र ते
This inspired one, like a bird set free, the purified one has rushed in a wave; by your will, O sage, Soma, pure with insight, you flow between heaven and earth for Indra.
द्रापिं वसानो यजतो दिविस्पृशमन्तरिक्षप्रा भुवनेष्वर्पितः । स्वर्जज्ञानो नभसाभ्यक्रमीत्प्रत्नमस्य पितरमा विवासति
Clad in a shining robe, reaching the worshipper, touching the sky, set in the worlds, knowing the sun, he has ascended through the clouds, summoning the ancient father from afar.
सो अस्य विशे महि शर्म यच्छति यो अस्य धाम प्रथमं व्यानशे । पदं यदस्य परमे व्योमन्यतो विश्वा अभि सं याति संयतः
He grants great protection to his worshipper, who first recognized his abode; his step is in the highest heaven, from there he approaches all things, united.
प्रो अयासीद् इन्दुर् इन्द्रस्य निष्कृतꣳ सखा सख्युर् न प्र मिनाति सꣳगिरम् । मर्य इव युवतिभिः सम् अर्षति सोमः कलशे शतयाम्ना पथा
Indu has advanced for Indra's purification, a friend who does not forsake friendship, like a youth mingling with maidens, Soma flows into the vessel along the hundredfold path.
प्र वो धियो मन्द्रयुवो विपन्युवः पनस्युवः सꣳवसनेष्व् अक्रमुः । सोमम् मनीषा अभ्य् अनूषत स्तुभो ऽभि धेनवः पयसेम् अशिश्रयुः
Your delightful, wise, and fruitful thoughts have entered the gatherings; with intention, they have sought Soma, hymning, like cows seeking milk, they have approached the nourishing one.
आ नः सोम सꣳयतम् पिप्युषीम् इषम् इन्दो पवस्व पवमानो अस्रिधम् । या नो दोहते त्रिर् अहन्न् असश्चुषी क्षुमद् वाजवन् मधुमत् सुवीर्यम्
Soma, grant us the abundant, nourishing flow; O Indu, purify yourself, O purifying one, without delay. That which yields to us, three times daily, the ever-flowing, fertile, rich, sweet, heroic strength.
वृषा मतीनाम् पवते विचक्षणः सोमो अह्नः प्रतरीतोषसो दिवः । क्राणा सिन्धूनाꣳ कलशाꣳ अवीवशद् इन्द्रस्य हार्द्य् आविशन् मनीषिभिः
The mighty one among thoughts, Soma, the discerning, flows forth; pressed at the break of day, he shines with the dawns of heaven. Roaring, he has entered the vessels of the rivers, pouring into the jars, entering Indra’s heart with the inspired.
मनीषिभिः पवते पूर्व्यः कविर् नृभिर् यतः परि कोशाꣳ अचिक्रदत् । त्रितस्य नाम जनयन् मधु क्षरद् इन्द्रस्य वायोः सख्याय कर्तवे
With the inspired, the ancient sage flows, with men he roars around the vessels. Creating the name of Trita, he pours out sweet mead, to accomplish the friendship of Indra and Vāyu.
अयम् पुनान उषसो वि रोचयद् अयꣳ सिन्धुभ्यो अभवद् उ लोककृत् । अयꣳ त्रिः सप्त दुदुहान आशिरꣳ सोमो हृदे पवते चारु मत्सरः
This one, being purified, makes the dawns shine; this one became the maker of space among the rivers. This Soma, thrice seven times, has milked the nourishing essence; he, lovely and exhilarating, is purified for the heart.
पवस्व सोम दिव्येषु धामसु सृजान इन्दो कलशे पवित्र आ । सीदन्न् इन्द्रस्य जठरे कनिक्रदन् नृभिर् यतः सूर्यम् आरोहयो दिवि
Purify yourself, Soma, in the divine abodes; flow, O Indu, into the vessel through the filter. Roaring, sit in Indra’s belly, with men guiding you; raise up the Sun in the sky.
अद्रिभिः सुतः पवसे पवित्र आꣳ इन्दव् इन्द्रस्य जठरेष्व् आविशन् । त्वꣳ नृचक्षा अभवो विचक्षण सोम गोत्रम् अङ्गिरोभ्यो ऽवृणोर् अप
Pressed with stones, you, Soma, flow through the filter; entering into the bellies of Indra. You, discerning among men, became the wise one; Soma, you opened the cow-stall for the Angirases.
त्वाꣳ सोम पवमानꣳ स्वाध्यो ऽनु विप्रासो अमदन्न् अवस्यवः । त्वाꣳ सुपर्ण आभरद् दिवस् परीन्दो विश्वाभिर् मतिभिः परिष्कृतम्
You, Soma, the self-purifying, the inspired ones have enjoyed, seeking aid. The splendid-winged one brought you from the sky, Soma, adorned with all thoughts.
अव्ये पुनानम् परि वार ऊर्मिणा हरिꣳ नवन्ते अभि सप्त धेनवः । अपाम् उपस्थे अध्य् आयवः कविम् ऋतस्य योना महिषा अहेषत
The seven cows, longing for the tawny one, surround the purified one with their wave-like streams. In the lap of the waters, the pressing stones have sought the sage, the great one, in the womb of truth.
इन्दुः पुनानो अति गाहते मृधो विश्वानि कृण्वन् सुपथानि यज्यवे । गाः कृण्वानो निर्णिजꣳ हर्यतः कविर् अत्यो न क्रीळन् परि वारम् अर्षति
The purified drop passes beyond all hostilities, making all good paths for the worshipper. Creating cows, clearing the path, the delightful sage, like a playful horse, flows around the enclosure.
असश्चतः शतधारा अभिश्रियो हरिꣳ नवन्ते ऽव ता उदन्युवः । क्षिपो मृजन्ति परि गोभिर् आवृतꣳ तृतीये पृष्ठे अधि रोचने दिवः
From all sides, a hundred streams pour forth, seeking the radiant one, as waters rush toward their channel; swift ones cleanse him, wrapped in cows, on the third back, upon the shining realm of heaven.
तवेमाः प्रजा दिव्यस्य रेतसस् त्वꣳ विश्वस्य भुवनस्य राजसि । अथेदꣳ विश्वम् पवमान ते वशे त्वम् इन्दो प्रथमो धामधा असि
These offspring are yours, from the divine seed; you are the ruler of all the worlds. Thus, all this universe, O Purifying One, is under your control; you, O Soma, are the first to hold the abode.
त्वꣳ समुद्रो असि विश्ववित् कवे तवेमाः पञ्च प्रदिशो विधर्मणि । त्वꣳ द्याꣳ च पृथिवीꣳ चाति जभ्रिषे तव ज्योतीꣳषि पवमान सूर्यः
You are the ocean, all-knowing sage; for you, these five regions are established. You have embraced both heaven and earth; your lights, O Purifying One, are the sun.
त्वम् पवित्रे रजसो विधर्मणि देवेभ्यः सोम पवमान पूयसे । त्वाम् उशिजः प्रथमा अगृभ्णत तुभ्येमा विश्वा भुवनानि येमिरे
You, Soma, purified in the strainer, are cleansed for the gods, set in the order of the firmament; the first-born seers grasped you, and for you all the worlds have been yoked.
प्र रेभ एत्य् अति वारम् अव्ययꣳ वृषा वनेष्व् अव चक्रदद् धरिः । सꣳ धीतयो वावशाना अनूषत शिशुꣳ रिहन्ति मतयः पनिप्नतम्
The powerful one, roaring forth, goes beyond the unceasing barrier; the tawny one has set his wheel among the woods. The inspired thoughts, longing, have followed together; the hymns press the child who is to be purified.
स सूर्यस्य रश्मिभिः परि व्यत तन्तुꣳ तन्वानस् त्रिवृतꣳ यथा विदे । नयन्न् ऋतस्य प्रशिषो नवीयसीः पतिर् जनीनाम् उप याति निष्कृतम्
He, weaving the thread with the rays of the sun, spreads it out, as one skilled, in threefold fashion. Leading forth the newer commands of truth, the lord of beings approaches the place of purification.
