चक्रिर्दिवः पवते कृत्व्यो रसो महाँ अदब्धो वरुणो हुरुग्यते । असावि मित्रो वृजनेषु यज्ञियोऽत्यो न यूथे वृषयुः कनिक्रदत्
The skillful juice is purified for heaven, great, unassailable, Varuna is invoked. Mitra is present among the tribes, worthy of sacrifice, like a bull in the herd, roaring with might.
प्र राजा वाचं जनयन्नसिष्यददपो वसानो अभि गा इयक्षति । गृभ्णाति रिप्रमविरस्य तान्वा शुद्धो देवानामुप याति निष्कृतम्
The king, generating speech, has arisen, clothed in waters, he approaches the cows. He grasps the foe, the bonds of the hostile, pure, he goes to the gathering of the gods.
इन्द्राय सोम परि षिच्यसे नृभिर्नृचक्षा ऊर्मिः कविरज्यसे वने । पूर्वीर्हि ते स्रुतयः सन्ति यातवे सहस्रमश्वा हरयश्चमूषदः
Soma, you are poured for Indra by men, wave-seen, seer, you are purified in the wood. Many are your streams for going forth, a thousand horses, and your bays bring the hosts.
समुद्रिया अप्सरसो मनीषिणमासीना अन्तरभि सोममक्षरन् । ता ईं हिन्वन्ति हर्म्यस्य सक्षणिं याचन्ते सुम्नं पवमानमक्षितम्
The celestial nymphs, wise, seated within the waters, have released Soma in the midst. They urge him on to the pillar of the house, and they seek the unaging favor of the purified one.
गोजिन्नः सोमो रथजिद्धिरण्यजित्स्वर्जिदब्जित्पवते सहस्रजित् । यं देवासश्चक्रिरे पीतये मदं स्वादिष्ठं द्रप्समरुणं मयोभुवम्
Soma, winner of cows, chariots, gold, sunlight, water, and a thousandfold, is purified. The gods made him, the most delightful drop, reddish, joy-bringing, for drinking.
एतानि सोम पवमानो अस्मयुः सत्यानि कृण्वन्द्रविणान्यर्षसि । जहि शत्रुमन्तिके दूरके च य उर्वीं गव्यूतिमभयं च नस्कृधि
These true riches, O purified Soma, you bring to us, granting wealth. Strike down the enemy, whether near or far; grant us broad pastures for cattle and fearless security.
अचोदसो नो धन्वन्त्विन्दवः प्र सुवानासो बृहद्दिवेषु हरयः । वि च नशन्न इषो अरातयोऽर्यो नशन्त सनिषन्त नो धियः
Let the drops, unurged, flow for us, the bright ones, pressed, for the great heaven; let the streams of nourishment spread for us, let adversaries be scattered, let the Arya's foes be destroyed, and let our thoughts be fulfilled.
प्र णो धन्वन्त्विन्दवो मदच्युतो धना वा येभिरर्वतो जुनीमसि । तिरो मर्तस्य कस्य चित्परिह्वृतिं वयं धनानि विश्वधा भरेमहि
Let the drops, flowing forth, bring us wealth, by which we may harness swift horses; let us overcome the concealment of any mortal, let us bring forth all kinds of riches.
उत स्वस्या अरात्या अरिर्हि ष उतान्यस्या अरात्या वृको हि षः । धन्वन्न तृष्णा समरीत ताँ अभि सोम जहि पवमान दुराध्यः
He is the enemy of his own enmity, and also of another's enmity, for he is a wolf. Flowing, let not thirst overpower you; O purified Soma, strike down those hard to overcome.
दिवि ते नाभा परमो य आददे पृथिव्यास्ते रुरुहुः सानवि क्षिपः । अद्रयस्त्वा बप्सति गोरधि त्वच्यप्सु त्वा हस्तैर्दुदुहुर्मनीषिणः
In heaven is your navel, the highest you have taken; your shoots have grown on the slope of earth. The stones press you on the hide of the cow; in the waters, the wise have milked you with their hands.
एवा त इन्दो सुभ्वं सुपेशसं रसं तुञ्जन्ति प्रथमा अभिश्रियः । निदंनिदं पवमान नि तारिष आविस्ते शुष्मो भवतु प्रियो मदः
Thus, O drop, the foremost adornments enhance your beautiful, splendid juice. O purified one, carry us safely over every danger; let your strength and dear exhilaration be manifest.
सोमस्य धारा पवते नृचक्षस ऋतेन देवान्हवते दिवस्परि । बृहस्पते रवथेना वि दिद्युते समुद्रासो न सवनानि विव्यचुः
The stream of Soma, visible to men, flows, invoking the gods with truth, encompassing the sky. With the roar of Brihaspati, it shines forth; the oceans, like libations, have been stirred.
यं त्वा वाजिन्नघ्न्या अभ्यनूषतायोहतं योनिमा रोहसि द्युमान् । मघोनामायुः प्रतिरन्महि श्रव इन्द्राय सोम पवसे वृषा मदः
You, strong one, whom the cows have approached, you ascend the shining womb, unharmed. May the life and fame of the generous be prolonged; Soma, you are purified as a mighty exhilaration for Indra.
एन्द्रस्य कुक्षा पवते मदिन्तम ऊर्जं वसानः श्रवसे सुमङ्गलः । प्रत्यङ्स विश्वा भुवनाभि पप्रथे क्रीळन्हरिरत्यः स्यन्दते वृषा
In Indra's belly, the most exhilarating Soma is purified, bearing nourishment, for auspicious fame. Facing forward, he has spread through all worlds; the playful, tawny, swift one, the bull, flows on.
तं त्वा देवेभ्यो मधुमत्तमं नरः सहस्रधारं दुहते दश क्षिपः । नृभिः सोम प्रच्युतो ग्रावभिः सुतो विश्वान्देवाँ आ पवस्वा सहस्रजित्
You, most honeyed for the gods, are milked by ten fingers, streaming a thousandfold. Pressed by men with stones, Soma, flow for all the gods, victorious by the thousand.
तं त्वा हस्तिनो मधुमन्तमद्रिभिर्दुहन्त्यप्सु वृषभं दश क्षिपः । इन्द्रं सोम मादयन्दैव्यं जनं सिन्धोरिवोर्मिः पवमानो अर्षसि
You, honeyed one, are milked by the stones with ten fingers in the waters, the bull. Soma, you gladden Indra, the divine people; like a wave of the river, you, purified, flow on.
प्र सोमस्य पवमानस्योर्मय इन्द्रस्य यन्ति जठरं सुपेशसः । दध्ना यदीमुन्नीता यशसा गवां दानाय शूरमुदमन्दिषुः सुताः
The waves of the purified Soma, splendid, go to Indra's belly. When they are raised with curds and fame, the pressed ones have gladdened the hero for the gift of cows.
अच्छा हि सोमः कलशाँ असिष्यददत्यो न वोळ्हा रघुवर्तनिर्वृषा । अथा देवानामुभयस्य जन्मनो विद्वाँ अश्नोत्यमुत इतश्च यत्
Soma has indeed reached the jars, like a charioteer bearing the unaging, swift-turning, strong one. Then, knowing both births of the gods, he attains both here and there.
आ नः सोम पवमानः किरा वस्विन्दो भव मघवा राधसो महः । शिक्षा वयोधो वसवे सु चेतुना मा नो गयमारे अस्मत्परा सिचः
Come to us, O purified Soma, bring us wealth; be generous, bestower of great gifts. Grant us strength, O wise one, for the Vasus; do not let death come upon us, nor cast us away.
आ नः पूषा पवमानः सुरातयो मित्रो गच्छन्तु वरुणः सजोषसः । बृहस्पतिर्मरुतो वायुरश्विना त्वष्टा सविता सुयमा सरस्वती
Let Pūṣan, the generous, come to us, O purified one, along with Mitra and Varuṇa in harmony; Brihaspati, the Maruts, Vāyu, the Aśvins, Tvaṣṭṛ, Savitṛ, Yama, and Sarasvatī.
उभे द्यावापृथिवी विश्वमिन्वे अर्यमा देवो अदितिर्विधाता । भगो नृशंस उर्वन्तरिक्षं विश्वे देवाः पवमानं जुषन्त
Both Heaven and Earth, all-pervading, Aryaman, the god, Aditi, the Ordainer, Bhaga, Nṛśaṃsa, the wide midspace, and all the gods—may they delight in the purified one.
असावि सोमो अरुषो वृषा हरी राजेव दस्मो अभि गा अचिक्रदत् । पुनानो वारं पर्येत्यव्ययं श्येनो न योनिं घृतवन्तमासदम्
The tawny, mighty Soma has flowed forth, with his two bay steeds, roaring like a powerful king; purified, he circles the unfailing filter, like an eagle reaching his nest full of ghee.
कविर्वेधस्या पर्येषि माहिनमत्यो न मृष्टो अभि वाजमर्षसि । अपसेधन्दुरिता सोम मृळय घृतं वसानः परि यासि निर्णिजम्
O inspired one, you seek the greatness of the wise creator; like a well-adorned steed, you rush toward the prize; Soma, drive away what is harmful, bring us mercy, clothed in ghee you pass around the filter.
पर्जन्यः पिता महिषस्य पर्णिनो नाभा पृथिव्या गिरिषु क्षयं दधे । स्वसार आपो अभि गा उतासरन्सं ग्रावभिर्नसते वीते अध्वरे
Parjanya is the father of the horned, leaf-bearing bull; at the navel of earth, he has set his dwelling in the mountains; the waters, his sisters, have come together, they sit with the stones at the sacred rite.
जायेव पत्यावधि शेव मंहसे पज्राया गर्भ शृणुहि ब्रवीमि ते । अन्तर्वाणीषु प्र चरा सु जीवसेऽनिन्द्यो वृजने सोम जागृहि
Like a wife with her husband, be gracious for our greatness; listen, O embryo of strength, I speak to you; move within the vessels for a good life, O Soma, blameless among the people, awaken.
यथा पूर्वेभ्यः शतसा अमृध्रः सहस्रसाः पर्यया वाजमिन्दो । एवा पवस्व सुविताय नव्यसे तव व्रतमन्वापः सचन्ते
As in former times, O drop, you have brought hundreds and thousands of prizes without fail; so now, purify yourself for new prosperity; the waters follow your command.
पवित्रं ते विततं ब्रह्मणस्पते प्रभुर्गात्राणि पर्येषि विश्वतः । अतप्ततनूर्न तदामो अश्नुते शृतास इद्वहन्तस्तत्समाशत
Your filter is spread out, O Lord of prayer; you, the mighty, encompass all forms; like one with unscorched body, no harm touches him; those who have strained you carry that together.
तपोष्पवित्रं विततं दिवस्पदे शोचन्तो अस्य तन्तवो व्यस्थिरन् । अवन्त्यस्य पवीतारमाशवो दिवस्पृष्ठमधि तिष्ठन्ति चेतसा
The filter of heat is stretched at the seat of heaven; its shining threads are spread out; the swift ones guard the purifier with their minds, they stand at the touch of heaven.
अरूरुचदुषसः पृश्निरग्रिय उक्षा बिभर्ति भुवनानि वाजयुः । मायाविनो ममिरे अस्य मायया नृचक्षसः पितरो गर्भमा दधुः
The bright, speckled bull has shone forth at dawn, bearing the worlds, eager for strength; the magicians have measured him by their magic, the fathers with human sight have placed the embryo.
गन्धर्व इत्था पदमस्य रक्षति पाति देवानां जनिमान्यद्भुतः । गृभ्णाति रिपुं निधया निधापतिः सुकृत्तमा मधुनो भक्षमाशत
Thus the Gandharva guards his place, the wondrous one preserves the births of the gods; the lord of treasures seizes the foe, he has tasted the best portion of the honey.
