O Agni, your radiant filter is spread within; with that sacred power, purify us.
O Agni, with your radiant filter, purify us; with the sacred chants, purify us.
With both, O divine Savitar, with the filter and with the ritual, purify me from all sides.
With your three most exalted abodes, O god Savitar, and with Soma's powers, O Agni, purify us by your skills.
May the divine beings purify me, may the Vasus purify me with wisdom; may all the gods purify me; Jātavedas, purify me.
Flow forth, pour out, O Soma, with all your streams; offer the highest oblation to the gods.
We have approached the dear, youthful one, who increases the offerings, bearing reverence.
O divine Soma, flow on, destroying the axe of the unskilled; O divine Soma, even the mouse.
Whoever recites the Pavamani verses, the essence gathered by the seers, he eats all that is purified, the sweet, with Mātariśvan.
To him who recites the Pavamani verses, the essence gathered by the seers, Sarasvati gives milk, clarified butter, and honeyed water.
The sweet drops, like cows, have flowed toward the god, as milch-kine to their calf; settling on the sacred grass, with speech and with vessels, the bright ones have placed the pure, unsullied offering.
He roared aloud, surpassing the former ones, the tawny one, delighting, ascended, loosening what is sweet; passing through the filter, circling with wide might, the god lays down his darts, seeking the best.
He who measures out the twin yamas, the mingled draught, swells together with milk, the wise one; he has distinguished the great, boundless realms, advancing, he bestows unfailing strength.
He, moving with his mothers, winning riches, the wise one, swells his path with his own power; the drop, adorned with barley, where men purify, sits with his kin, protecting the head.
With skill and mind is born the sage, the embryo of truth, set by the restrainers; though young, they were the first to be born, hidden in secret, their birth not yet arisen.
The wise have discerned the form of the delightful one, when the falcon brought the drop from afar; they cleanse him, ever-growing, in the rivers, the most eager drop, circling, fit for the hymn.
You, Soma, ten maidens cleanse, the pressed one, set by the seers with thoughts and prayers; with waters, with coverings, and with divine invocations, men, where you see wealth, for attainment.
The wise have praised Soma, the good companion, the well-lauded, as he moves around; who, with a honeyed wave, by his flow, raises his voice, the immortal, rich in treasures.
This Soma raises his voice to the whole expanse of heaven, purified, he sits in the vessels; washed with waters, with cows, pressed by stones, purified, the drop, Soma, finds the beloved path.
So, Soma, as you are poured, grant us the most splendid vigor; may we invoke the undivided Heaven and Earth, O gods, bestow wealth and heroic sons upon us.
As an arrow is fitted to the bow, so is the thought directed to the offering; as a calf to its mother in the stall, Soma is sought in the rites, as a cow with abundant milk yields the first stream.
The thought approaches, is poured out, sweet and melodious, it stirs within the vessel. Purified, flowing, Soma spreads, like one who strikes, the sweet, rich drops pass through the filter.
The bridegroom flows around the skin, loosening it, the offspring of Aditi, striving for truth. The tawny one, harnessed, born of sacrifice, controlled, with strength, shines like a mighty bull.
The bull bellows, the cows approach, the divine ones go to the place of the god. Soma has crossed the bright filter, the unfailing barrier, like a garment washed, he spreads out.
With immortal, shining garment, the tawny, undying one, purified, spreads out. He has touched the heights of heaven, with his seat prepared, the cloud’s covering, woven from the sky.
Like the rays of the sun, swift, eager, full of desire, they move together. The threads are stretched, the streams flow around, nothing is purified without Indra’s abode.
Like the currents in a river’s descent, the streams, driven by strength, rush to their goal. May Soma bring us blessing in our dwelling, for two-footed and four-footed; may wealth and people abide with us.
Purify for us, Soma, wealth with gold, horses, cattle, barley, and mighty strength. For you, Soma, are the fathers of mine, standing on the summit of heaven, creators of life.
These purified Somas have gone forth to Indra, like chariots to victory. Pressed, they move through the filter unhindered, leaving the enclosure, the tawny ones go to the rain.
Flow, Soma, for Indra the mighty, gentle, faultless, bestower of gifts. Bring shining treasures for the singer; may heaven and earth, with the gods, protect us.
