इन्द्रेहि मत्स्यन्धसो विश्वेभिः सोमपर्वभिः । महाँ अभिष्टिरोजसा
Come, Indra, delighting in the exhilarating Soma, with all the Soma offerings, with your great, overflowing strength.
एमेनं सृजता सुते मन्दिमिन्द्राय मन्दिने । चक्रिं विश्वानि चक्रये
Pour out for him at the pressing of the Soma, for Indra who delights in it; he has made all things for the doer.
मत्स्वा सुशिप्र मन्दिभि स्तोमेभिर्विश्वचर्षणे । सचैषु सवनेष्वा
Rejoice, O fair-jawed one, with the songs, O Indra, lord of all peoples; join these sacrifices with us.
असृग्रमिन्द्र ते गिरः प्रति त्वामुदहासत । अजोषा वृषभं पतिम्
We have poured forth our songs to you, Indra; they have called upon you, the bull, the lord, with devotion.
सं चोदय चित्रमर्वाग्राध इन्द्र वरेण्यम् । असदित्ते विभु प्रभु
Urge on the splendid, swift, and excellent one, O Indra, the most worthy; may you be for us the all-pervading, the powerful.
अस्मान्सु तत्र चोदयेन्द्र राये रभस्वतः । तुविद्युम्न यशस्वतः
There, urge us on, O Indra, to wealth, to eager strength, to great fame and glory.
सं गोमदिन्द्र वाजवदस्मे पृथु श्रवो बृहत् । विश्वायुर्धेह्यक्षितम्
Grant us, O Indra, cattle, horses, wide and great renown; bestow undiminished life for all.
अस्मे धेहि श्रवो बृहद्द्युम्नं सहस्रसातमम् । इन्द्र ता रथिनीरिषः
Bestow on us great fame, abundant strength, and wealth of a thousand, O Indra, along with those chariot-borne riches.
वसोरिन्द्रं वसुपतिं गीर्भिर्गृणन्त ऋग्मियम् । होम गन्तारमूतये
With hymns we praise Indra, the lord of wealth, the master of treasures, the ancient one, the bringer of help at the offering.
सुतेसुते न्योकसे बृहद्बृहत एदरिः । इन्द्राय शूषमर्चति
At every pressing, in every home, the mighty one is praised with great and greater hymns; sing forth your strength to Indra.
गायन्ति त्वा गायत्रिणोऽर्चन्त्यर्कमर्किणः । ब्रह्माणस्त्वा शतक्रत उद्वंशमिव येमिरे
The singers of the Gāyatrī chant you; those who praise the sun exalt the Sun; the priests, O hundred-powered one, have yoked you as one would a lofty banner.
यत्सानोः सानुमारुहद्भूर्यस्पष्ट कर्त्वम् । तदिन्द्रो अर्थं चेतति यूथेन वृष्णिरेजति
When, from summit to summit, you ascended, accomplishing many clear deeds, then Indra considers the purpose; the mighty one stirs with his troop.
युक्ष्वा हि केशिना हरी वृषणा कक्ष्यप्रा । अथा न इन्द्र सोमपा गिरामुपश्रुतिं चर
Yoke your two tawny, strong-haired steeds, fit for the yoke; then, O Indra, drinker of Soma, come near to the hearing of our songs.
एहि स्तोमाँ अभि स्वराभि गृणीह्या रुव । ब्रह्म च नो वसो सचेन्द्र यज्ञं च वर्धय
Come to these praises, resound with your voice, be gracious; and, O generous one, join with our prayer, Indra, and make our sacrifice grow.
उक्थमिन्द्राय शंस्यं वर्धनं पुरुनिष्षिधे । शक्रो यथा सुतेषु णो रारणत्सख्येषु च
Let the laudation for Indra be spoken, the praise that increases him, in the many-guarded place; as the mighty one has delighted in our pressed offerings and in our friendships.
तमित्सखित्व ईमहे तं राये तं सुवीर्ये । स शक्र उत नः शकदिन्द्रो वसु दयमानः
We seek his friendship, we seek him for wealth, we seek him for heroic strength; may that mighty Indra, generous, grant us riches.
सुविवृतं सुनिरजमिन्द्र त्वादातमिद्यशः । गवामप व्रजं वृधि कृणुष्व राधो अद्रिवः
O Indra, famed for gifts, whose path is wide and clear, grant us the wealth of cattle; open the enclosure, make us prosper, O stone-splitter.
नहि त्वा रोदसी उभे ऋघायमाणमिन्वतः । जेषः स्वर्वतीरपः सं गा अस्मभ्यं धूनुहि
Neither of the two worlds, earth and sky, can restrain you as you strive; you will conquer the shining waters—drive the cows together for us.
आश्रुत्कर्ण श्रुधी हवं नू चिद्दधिष्व मे गिरः । इन्द्र स्तोममिमं मम कृष्वा युजश्चिदन्तरम्
O you whose ears are open to praise, hear our call; now accept my words, Indra—make this hymn of mine effective, even if there is a gap between us.
विद्मा हि त्वा वृषन्तमं वाजेषु हवनश्रुतम् । वृषन्तमस्य हूमह ऊतिं सहस्रसातमाम्
For we know you, most vigorous, famed for hearing invocations in contests; we call upon the most vigorous for aid, the one who grants a thousandfold.
आ तू न इन्द्र कौशिक मन्दसानः सुतं पिब । नव्यमायुः प्र सू तिर कृधी सहस्रसामृषिम्
Come to us, Indra of the Kuśikas, delighting, drink the pressed Soma; extend our new life onward, make the inspired one a singer of a thousand songs.
परि त्वा गिर्वणो गिर इमा भवन्तु विश्वतः । वृद्धायुमनु वृद्धयो जुष्टा भवन्तु जुष्टयः
Let these songs, O lover of song, surround you from every side; may the blessings that lengthen life, and those that are well-accepted, be pleasing to you.
इन्द्रं विश्वा अवीवृधन्समुद्रव्यचसं गिरः । रथीतमं रथीनां वाजानां सत्पतिं पतिम्
All songs have magnified Indra, whose expanse is like the ocean; the best charioteer among charioteers, the true lord of prizes, the master.
सख्ये त इन्द्र वाजिनो मा भेम शवसस्पते । त्वामभि प्र णोनुमो जेतारमपराजितम्
In friendship with you, Indra, we are strong—let us not fear, O lord of might; we ever praise you, the unconquered victor.
पूर्वीरिन्द्रस्य रातयो न वि दस्यन्त्यूतयः । यदी वाजस्य गोमत स्तोतृभ्यो मंहते मघम्
The many gifts of Indra, his aids, never fail; when the wealth of cattle is bestowed, the praisers rejoice in the bounty.
पुरां भिन्दुर्युवा कविरमितौजा अजायत । इन्द्रो विश्वस्य कर्मणो धर्ता वज्री पुरुष्टुतः
The breaker of forts, young, wise, of boundless might, was born; Indra, wielder of the bolt, praised by many, upholds all action.
त्वं वलस्य गोमतोऽपावरद्रिवो बिलम् । त्वां देवा अबिभ्युषस्तुज्यमानास आविषुः
You, O stone-splitter, opened the cave of Vala rich in cattle; the gods, terrified, sought you out, and came forward when urged.
तवाहं शूर रातिभिः प्रत्यायं सिन्धुमावदन् । उपातिष्ठन्त गिर्वणो विदुष्टे तस्य कारवः
By your gifts, O hero, I crossed the wide river; the singers approached you, O lover of song, knowing this, the poets.
मायाभिरिन्द्र मायिनं त्वं शुष्णमवातिरः । विदुष्टे तस्य मेधिरास्तेषां श्रवांस्युत्तिर
With your powers of illusion, Indra, you have overcome the cunning Śuṣṇa; your wise ones know this, and their praises rise high.
इन्द्रमीशानमोजसाभि स्तोमा अनूषत । सहस्रं यस्य रातय उत वा सन्ति भूयसीः
With hymns, they have approached Indra, the lord of might, whose gifts are a thousandfold, and indeed, even more abundant.
