हस्तच्युतेभिरद्रिभिः सुतं सोमं पुनीतन । मधावा धावता मधु
Purify the pressed Soma with stones moved by hand; let it run with sweetness, let it flow with honey.
नमसेदुप सीदत दध्नेदभि श्रीणीतन । इन्दुमिन्द्रे दधातन
Bow down, sit near, listen to the vessel; place the drop for Indra.
अमित्रहा विचर्षणिः पवस्व सोम शं गवे । देवेभ्यो अनुकामकृत्
Soma, destroyer of foes, wise, flow for the cow, for the gods, fulfilling their desire.
इन्द्राय सोम पातवे मदाय परि षिच्यसे । मनश्चिन्मनसस्पतिः
Soma, you are poured for Indra to drink, for intoxication; even the mind, lord of the mind, desires you.
पवमान सुवीर्यं रयिं सोम रिरीहि नः । इन्दविन्द्रेण नो युजा
Purifying one, grant us heroic strength, Soma, bestow wealth upon us, with Indra as our ally.
सोमा असृग्रमिन्दवः सुता ऋतस्य सादने । इन्द्राय मधुमत्तमाः
The Indus, pressed, have flowed, Soma juices in the seat of truth, most sweet for Indra.
अभि विप्रा अनूषत गावो वत्सं न मातरः । इन्द्रं सोमस्य पीतये
The sages have called out, as cows to their calf, for Indra to drink Soma.
मदच्युत्क्षेति सादने सिन्धोरूर्मा विपश्चित् । सोमो गौरी अधि श्रितः
Flowing with intoxication, Soma dwells in the seat, the wave of the river, the wise one, Soma, has rested upon the cow.
दिवो नाभा विचक्षणोऽव्यो वारे महीयते । सोमो यः सुक्रतुः कविः
From the navel of heaven, the discerning one, Soma, is magnified in the waters, he who is wise and a poet.
यः सोमः कलशेष्वाँ अन्तः पवित्र आहितः । तमिन्दुः परि षस्वजे
That Soma, placed within the vessels, within the filter, Indu has embraced.
प्र वाचमिन्दुरिष्यति समुद्रस्याधि विष्टपि । जिन्वन्कोशं मधुश्चुतम्
Indu sends forth speech from the summit of the ocean, stirring the honey-dropping vessel.
नित्यस्तोत्रो वनस्पतिर्धीनामन्तः सबर्दुघः । हिन्वानो मानुषा युगा
The ever-praised tree, full of milk within, pours forth for the generations of men.
अभि प्रिया दिवस्पदा सोमो हिन्वानो अर्षति । विप्रस्य धारया कविः
Soma, pouring forth, rushes to the beloved seat of heaven, the poet with the wisdom of the sage.
आ पवमान धारय रयिं सहस्रवर्चसम् । अस्मे इन्दो स्वाभुवम्
O purifying one, bring us wealth with a thousand splendors, O Indu, our own.
सोमः पुनानो अर्षति सहस्रधारो अत्यविः । वायोरिन्द्रस्य निष्कृतम्
Soma, being purified, flows forth with a thousand streams, powerful and unconquered, for the offering of Vayu and Indra.
पवमानमवस्यवो विप्रमभि प्र गायत । सुष्वाणं देववीतये
O singers, praise the purified one, the inspired Soma, who is pressed for the favor of the gods.
पवन्ते वाजसातये सोमाः सहस्रपाजसः । गृणाना देववीतये
The Somas, rich in a thousand powers, are purified for the gaining of strength, being praised for the favor of the gods.
उत नो वाजसातये पवस्व बृहतीरिषः । द्युमदिन्दो सुवीर्यम्
And for the gaining of strength, purify for us great riches, O radiant Indu, and glorious heroism.
ते नः सहस्रिणं रयिं पवन्तामा सुवीर्यम् । सुवाना देवास इन्दवः
May those Indus, the gods who are pressed, purify for us a thousandfold wealth and glorious heroism.
अत्या हियाना न हेतृभिरसृग्रं वाजसातये । वि वारमव्यमाशवः
Like swift horses urged by charioteers, they, unrestrained, rush forth for the gaining of strength, breaking through the unbroken barrier.
वाश्रा अर्षन्तीन्दवोऽभि वत्सं न धेनवः । दधन्विरे गभस्त्योः
The Indus, strong and flowing, like cows to their calf, have settled in the hands.
जुष्ट इन्द्राय मत्सरः पवमान कनिक्रदत् । विश्वा अप द्विषो जहि
The beloved, exhilarating, roaring Soma, purified, is pleasing to Indra; destroy all enemies.
अपघ्नन्तो अराव्णः पवमानाः स्वर्दृशः । योनावृतस्य सीदत
The purified ones, shining like the sun, drive away the hostile; they sit in the womb of the pressing-stone.
परि प्रासिष्यदत्कविः सिन्धोरूर्मावधि श्रितः । कारं बिभ्रत्पुरुस्पृहम्
The sage has spread himself out, resting upon the wave of the river, bearing the work that is much desired.
गिरा यदी सबन्धवः पञ्च व्राता अपस्यवः । परिष्कृण्वन्ति धर्णसिम्
When, with their voices, the five clans, united with their kin, purify the pressing-stone.
आदस्य शुष्मिणो रसे विश्वे देवा अमत्सत । यदी गोभिर्वसायते
All the gods delight in the juice of this mighty one, when he is clothed with cows.
निरिणानो वि धावति जहच्छर्याणि तान्वा । अत्रा सं जिघ्नते युजा
He, being pressed out, runs forth, casting off his coverings; here he joins with his yoke-fellow.
नप्तीभिर्यो विवस्वतः शुभ्रो न मामृजे युवा । गाः कृण्वानो न निर्णिजम्
He, pure and young, like the offspring of Vivasvat, cleanses himself with his kin, making the cows pass through the strainer.
अति श्रिती तिरश्चता गव्या जिगात्यण्व्या । वग्नुमियर्ति यं विदे
He goes beyond obstacles, across the narrow path, seeking the wealth of cattle, stirring up the one who knows him.
अभि क्षिपः समग्मत मर्जयन्तीरिषस्पतिम् । पृष्ठा गृभ्णत वाजिनः
The streams have come together, purifying the lord of nourishment; the swift ones seize his back.
