स सूनुर्मातरा शुचिर्जातो जाते अरोचयत् । महान्मही ऋतावृधा
That pure son, born of his mothers, when born, made them shine forth—great, and grown by the cosmic order, both vast.
स सप्त धीतिभिर्हितो नद्यो अजिन्वदद्रुहः । या एकमक्षि वावृधुः
He, set in motion by seven thoughts, unimpeded, set the rivers in motion, which together increased one source.
ता अभि सन्तमस्तृतं महे युवानमा दधुः । इन्दुमिन्द्र तव व्रते
They, for the mighty youth, have placed the flowing one, pressed and spread, O Indra, under your rule.
अभि वह्निरमर्त्यः सप्त पश्यति वावहिः । क्रिविर्देवीरतर्पयत्
The immortal fire, shining, beholds the seven streams; the skilled one satisfies the goddesses.
अवा कल्पेषु नः पुमस्तमांसि सोम योध्या । तानि पुनान जङ्घनः
O Soma, drive away from us the deepest darknesses; purifying, you have shattered them.
नू नव्यसे नवीयसे सूक्ताय साधया पथः । प्रत्नवद्रोचया रुचः
Now, for the ever-new, ever-younger hymn, make the path easy; shine forth ancient lights anew.
पवमान महि श्रवो गामश्वं रासि वीरवत् । सना मेधां सना स्वः
O Pavamana, grant great fame, cattle, horses with heroes, enduring wisdom, and enduring light.
प्र स्वानासो रथा इवार्वन्तो न श्रवस्यवः । सोमासो राये अक्रमुः
The pressed Somas, like swift chariots, eager for glory, have advanced for wealth.
हिन्वानासो रथा इव दधन्विरे गभस्त्योः । भरासः कारिणामिव
Set in motion, like chariots, they have been harnessed by the hands, bearing as if for the works of the doers.
राजानो न प्रशस्तिभिः सोमासो गोभिरञ्जते । यज्ञो न सप्त धातृभिः
The Somas, like kings with praises, are adorned with cows; like a sacrifice with seven arrangers.
परि सुवानास इन्दवो मदाय बर्हणा गिरा । सुता अर्षन्ति धारया
The pressed drops, for exhilaration, with their might and song, flow around, streaming forth in the vessel.
आपानासो विवस्वतो जनन्त उषसो भगम् । सूरा अण्वं वि तन्वते
The drinkers of light have begotten the wealth of dawn for Vivasvat; the strong ones spread the path wide.
अप द्वारा मतीनां प्रत्ना ऋण्वन्ति कारवः । वृष्णो हरस आयवः
The channels of the mighty, of the active one, open up the ancient doors of thoughts for the poets.
समीचीनास आसते होतारः सप्तजामयः । पदमेकस्य पिप्रतः
The seven sons of the hotar, united, sit together, seeking the one path.
नाभा नाभिं न आ ददे चक्षुश्चित्सूर्ये सचा । कवेरपत्यमा दुहे
As the navel to the navel, so I have placed it; even the eye follows the sun, drawing out the offspring of the sage.
अभि प्रिया दिवस्पदमध्वर्युभिर्गुहा हितम् । सूरः पश्यति चक्षसा
The shining one, with his eye, beholds the beloved seat of heaven, set in secret by the priests.
उपास्मै गायता नरः पवमानायेन्दवे । अभि देवाँ इयक्षते
O men, sing to him, to Indu, the purifying one; the gods approach him.
अभि ते मधुना पयोऽथर्वाणो अशिश्रयुः । देवं देवाय देवयु
The Atharvans have surrounded you with honeyed milk; the god for the god, divine in nature.
स नः पवस्व शं गवे शं जनाय शमर्वते । शं राजन्नोषधीभ्यः
Flow for us, bringing blessing to the cow, blessing to the people, blessing to the charioteer, blessing to the kings and to the plants.
बभ्रवे नु स्वतवसेऽरुणाय दिविस्पृशे । सोमाय गाथमर्चत
Now praise the tawny, self-powerful, ruddy one who touches the sky, Soma, with song.
हस्तच्युतेभिरद्रिभिः सुतं सोमं पुनीतन । मधावा धावता मधु
Purify the pressed Soma with stones moved by hand; let it run with sweetness, let it flow with honey.
नमसेदुप सीदत दध्नेदभि श्रीणीतन । इन्दुमिन्द्रे दधातन
Bow down, sit near, listen to the vessel; place the drop for Indra.
अमित्रहा विचर्षणिः पवस्व सोम शं गवे । देवेभ्यो अनुकामकृत्
Soma, destroyer of foes, wise, flow for the cow, for the gods, fulfilling their desire.
इन्द्राय सोम पातवे मदाय परि षिच्यसे । मनश्चिन्मनसस्पतिः
Soma, you are poured for Indra to drink, for intoxication; even the mind, lord of the mind, desires you.
पवमान सुवीर्यं रयिं सोम रिरीहि नः । इन्दविन्द्रेण नो युजा
Purifying one, grant us heroic strength, Soma, bestow wealth upon us, with Indra as our ally.
सोमा असृग्रमिन्दवः सुता ऋतस्य सादने । इन्द्राय मधुमत्तमाः
The Indus, pressed, have flowed, Soma juices in the seat of truth, most sweet for Indra.
अभि विप्रा अनूषत गावो वत्सं न मातरः । इन्द्रं सोमस्य पीतये
The sages have called out, as cows to their calf, for Indra to drink Soma.
मदच्युत्क्षेति सादने सिन्धोरूर्मा विपश्चित् । सोमो गौरी अधि श्रितः
Flowing with intoxication, Soma dwells in the seat, the wave of the river, the wise one, Soma, has rested upon the cow.
दिवो नाभा विचक्षणोऽव्यो वारे महीयते । सोमो यः सुक्रतुः कविः
From the navel of heaven, the discerning one, Soma, is magnified in the waters, he who is wise and a poet.
यः सोमः कलशेष्वाँ अन्तः पवित्र आहितः । तमिन्दुः परि षस्वजे
That Soma, placed within the vessels, within the filter, Indu has embraced.
