Swiftly ran your messenger, O Mitra and Varuna, with iron head, eager for the draught.
He who does not inquire, nor calls again, nor delights in conversation—may you, today, keep us far from such forgetfulness; with your arms, keep us far away.
Now sing a true and fitting hymn to Mitra, to the noble, immortal lord; offer a song of praise to Varuṇa, the protector, a splendid chant among kings.
They impel the reddish, conquering one, the single son of the three wealthy mothers; those immortals, flawless, behold the abodes of mortals.
Here are my words, raised up, most radiant and skillfully composed; come together, both Aśvins, in harmony, to accept the offerings for the feast.
When we call for your generous, unassailable favor, or for you two, bestowers of horses, grant us the eastern oblation, O men, together with Jamadagni, as we praise.
Come, Vāyu, with good thoughts to our sacrifice that touches the sky; within the purifier, above, I, the bright one, approach you.
The adhvaryu moves along the straightest paths to bring the offerings for the feast; then, with your team, drink for both our sakes the pure soma mixed with milk.
You are great, O Sūrya, mighty Āditya, you are great; your greatness, being great, is renowned—truly, god, you are great.
O Sūrya, you are great in fame, you are truly great among the gods; as the mighty priest of the gods, O Asura, you, the all-pervading light, are unconquered.
This one, who is low and shining, is made in the form of Rohiṇī; like a bright image, she appears, spreading out among the ten arms.
Three generations have passed beyond, while others have entered the hymn from all sides; the vast one has stood within the worlds, the purifying, golden one has entered within.
Mother of the Rudras, daughter of the Vasus, sister of the Ādityas, navel of immortality—let me speak forth for the wise among men: do not, do not harm Aditi, let her not be struck.
Uttering speech, knowing speech, attended by all thoughts, the goddess, moving among the gods—let not a mortal of little understanding obstruct the cow.
You, Agni, possess vast strength, god, for the worshipper; wise, master of the house, ever young.
With your favor, O gods, Agni, may we be served; bring us, knowing and shining, together.
With you, indeed, O youngest, urged on by your might, we strive for the gaining of strength.
Like Aurva, like Bhṛgu, like Śuci, like Apnavāna, I call upon Agni, who dwells in the ocean.
I call upon Agni, who dwells in the ocean, the wise one with the sound of the wind, the powerful one who roars like Parjanya.
As one calls for the pressing of Savitar, as for the portion of Bhaga, so I call upon Agni, who dwells in the ocean.
To Agni, the increaser of the rites, most bountiful, we direct our words, to the mighty descendant.
As the craftsman shapes, so has this one come to be for us; by the will of the glorious one.
This Agni, lord among the gods, surpasses all splendors; may he come to us with prizes.
Praise here the most renowned among all priests, Agni, the ancient one in the sacrifices.
Bright, with pure flames, eldest in the houses, he shines, most widely heard.
Sing to him, the swift one, like a racing horse, the inspired, mighty one, like a friend who guides men.
To you, the wives send forth their voices, bearing offerings; they have settled in the domain of Vāyu.
On whose triple-covered sacred grass, firmly set, even the waters have placed their step.
The step of the generous god, with invincible aids, auspicious, to be beheld like the sun.
Agni, by your thoughts of ghee, shining god, with your flame, lead the gods here and worship.
