To you, O Indra, I give with hope the gift into your hand; grant us, O Maghavan, the fodder of the day or of what has been gathered, O shining one.
This Soma, skillful, unconstrained, conquering all, bursting forth, is a sage, a wise one with poetry.
He covers what is naked, heals all that is strong; he became famous, though blind and earless.
You, Soma, are a wide shelter for those who create bodies, against hatreds and against others' deeds.
You, with your thoughts and skills, move swiftly from heaven to earth, and you drive away even the hatred of the wicked.
Those seeking gain go for their purpose; let the giver grant the gift; they have rejected the desire of the thirsty.
He restores what was lost before, and leads the mortal to life; he extends life for the one who has crossed over.
May he, gracious and merciful, with bold resolve, be favorable to us; be, O Soma, auspicious for our heart.
Do not, O Soma, confuse us; do not frighten us, O king; do not strike us in the heart with your brilliance.
When, in your own abode among the gods, you look upon evil thoughts, O king, drive away the hostile, drive away the malicious, drive away the deceitful.
O Indra, wielder of the hundred powers, there is no other who brings strength and grants favor as you do; be gracious to us.
You who have always, since ancient times, been our unfailing helper in the pursuit of wealth—be gracious to us, O Indra.
Why, then, do you, who urge on the weak, not protect the one who pours the Soma? Perhaps, Indra, you are indeed able to help us.
Indra, protect our chariot, even when it is behind, O crusher of foes; make it advance before us.
Come now, why do you delay? Make our chariot the foremost, O bringer of prize-winning glory.
Bring down for us the prize-winning chariot—what is difficult for you? Make us victorious over our rivals.
Indra, hold firm at the front; good fortune comes to you at the appointed time—this inspired thought is accompanied by ritual.
Let not the blame of others reach us; let the wealth set aside for us not be lost; let not the unkind ones shut us out from the prize.
Whenever you perform the fourth, the sacrificial act, that is when you are most powerful; from then on, you are our lord.
The immortal gods, the ever-joyful, have increased your strength, O Indra, and the goddesses as well; therefore, grant us splendid favor—may the wise, generous one come to us swiftly at dawn.
Come now, Indra, grasp our brilliant, abundant prize with your mighty right hand.
For we know you as powerful in action, mighty in aid, and vast in generosity, O Indra, with your great support.
Neither gods nor mortals can restrain you, O hero, when you desire to give, just as none can hold back a fierce bull.
Now let us praise Indra, lord of wealth, sovereign of light; let him not diminish our share of bounty.
Let the singer praise, let the poet approach with song; they have bound themselves to your favor.
Bring to us with your right hand, touch us with your left, O Indra; do not withhold your wealth from us.
Step forward, bring your boldness, O mighty one among men; you know the desire of the one who praises you.
Indra, whatever strength you have in winning prizes with the wise, grant that to us together with you.
May your youthful powers, O giver of strength, swiftly come to us, shining in every way; let riches be quickly gathered by our means.
Run forth, O slayer of Vṛtra, from afar and from near, to the offering of the sweet drink.
