Let not the enmities of the whole assembly, nor the hostilities, nor distress, overwhelm us, as a wave would a boat.
To your strength, O Agni, we bow; the peoples praise you, O god; destroy the unfriendly for us.
Whatever wealth-seeking companions you have, O Agni, bring us wealth; make us wide and strong.
Let us not, in this great wealth, be made to bear the burden of others; win together for us the full and the abundant wealth.
Let this ill-will fall upon another, not upon us, O Agni; increase for us strength and might.
Whomever the reverent or the ill-intentioned has chosen, Agni truly supports that one in growth.
From the farther to the nearer shore, carry us across; wherever I am, bring us safely there.
For we have known you of old, O Agni, according to the favor of our father; now we seek your good will.
Now I call upon this wondrous Indra, lord of might, accompanied by the Maruts, for you do not abandon him.
This Indra, friend of the Maruts, struck off the head of Vritra with his hundred-jointed thunderbolt.
Indra, growing strong with the Maruts as friends, overcame Vritra, releasing the waters of the sea.
By whom indeed this light was won with the Maruts, by Indra, for the drinking of Soma.
We call with our songs upon Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, mighty, powerful, and of manifold vision.
With the ancient thought, we call upon Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, for the drinking of this Soma.
O Indra, endowed with the Maruts, gracious one, drink the Soma, O hundred-powered, in this sacrifice, much-praised one.
For you, Indra, accompanied by the Maruts, the pressed Somas are prepared, O stone-armed; with heart, the singers call you.
Drink, Indra, friend of the Maruts, the pressed Soma among the offerings; wielding the thunderbolt with your might.
Rising up with strength together, having drunk, you shook your beard, O Indra, you drank the pressed Soma of the troop.
Both the worlds, heaven and earth, followed you as you advanced, O Indra, when you became the slayer of foes.
The eight-footed speech, new-colored, touching the truth, I have drawn forth from Indra for my own person.
When the hundred-powered was born, he asked his mother: Who are the mighty ones? Who indeed are heard of?
Then she spoke of his strength, like a wave, like a great arrow: Let them, son, be your sons, the harsh ones.
The slayer of Vṛtra, with his allies, struck down like spokes, with force; grown strong, he became the destroyer of foes.
With one draught he drank together thirty lakes of Soma, Indra, the portions of Soma.
He crossed over the Gandharva in the bottomless spaces; Indra grew strong through the chants.
He pierced from the mountains, he brought forth the cooked food; Indra, the swelling one, self-extended.
Your arrow, O Indra, is a hundred-rayed, thousand-feathered, single one, which you made your yokefellow.
With it bring to the singers, to men, to women in the forest, O newly born, O steadfast with the Ṛbhus.
These deeds of yours, performed by you, most abundant, surpassing, you hold firm with your wise heart.
All these, Viṣṇu brought, the wide-striding, impelled; a hundred buffaloes, milk-cooked food, a boar, O Indra, eager.
