त्वं न इन्द्र ऋतयुस्त्वानिदो नि तृम्पसि । मध्ये वसिष्व तुविनृम्णोर्वोर्नि दासं शिश्नथो हथैः
You, O Indra, are our upholder of order, you do not fail us; dwell in the midst of the mighty, and with your blows, strike down the Dasa.
अन्यव्रतममानुषमयज्वानमदेवयुम् । अव स्वः सखा दुधुवीत पर्वतः सुघ्नाय दस्युं पर्वतः
The one of different vows, inhuman, not sacrificing, godless—let your friend, the mountain, shake him down; let the mountain destroy the hostile one.
त्वं न इन्द्रासां हस्ते शविष्ठ दावने । धानानां न सं गृभायास्मयुर्द्विः सं गृभायास्मयुः
You, O Indra, most powerful, hold the fire in your hand; as gatherers of wealth, let us seize the riches, let us seize the riches twice.
सखायः क्रतुमिच्छत कथा राधाम शरस्य । उपस्तुतिं भोजः सूरिर्यो अह्रयः
Friends, seek wisdom—how shall we win the favor of the generous one? Let us approach with praise the giver, the wise, the unyielding.
भूरिभिः समह ऋषिभिर्बर्हिष्मद्भि स्तविष्यसे । यदित्थमेकमेकमिच्छर वत्सान्पराददः
With many, together with the seers, with those who have prepared the sacred grass, you are to be praised; when thus, one by one, you desired, O Sharavat, you gave away the calves.
कर्णगृह्या मघवा शौरदेव्यो वत्सं नस्त्रिभ्य आनयत् । अजां सूरिर्न धातवे
Maghavan, holding the ear, Shuradevi brought a calf for us from the three; the wise one did not give the goat for the portion.
त्वं नो अग्ने महोभिः पाहि विश्वस्या अरातेः । उत द्विषो मर्त्यस्य
You, Agni, with your great powers, protect us from all hostility, and also from the hatred of mortals.
नहि मन्युः पौरुषेय ईशे हि वः प्रियजात । त्वमिदसि क्षपावान्
For anger does not control a man’s strength; you are indeed of noble birth; you alone are the lord of the nights.
स नो विश्वेभिर्देवेभिरूर्जो नपाद्भद्रशोचे । रयिं देहि विश्ववारम्
May you, O radiant one, together with all the gods, O offspring of strength, grant us prosperity, wealth of every kind.
न तमग्ने अरातयो मर्तं युवन्त रायः । यं त्रायसे दाश्वांसम्
No hostilities, O Agni, nor mortals, harm the one whom you, giver, protect for wealth.
यं त्वं विप्र मेधसातावग्ने हिनोषि धनाय । स तवोती गोषु गन्ता
The one whom you, O inspired Agni, urge on with wisdom for wealth, he, with your help, will reach the cows.
त्वं रयिं पुरुवीरमग्ने दाशुषे मर्ताय । प्र णो नय वस्यो अच्छ
You, Agni, grant wealth with many heroes to the worshipping mortal; lead us straight to riches.
उरुष्या णो मा परा दा अघायते जातवेदः । दुराध्ये मर्ताय
Make wide space for us, do not give us over to the evil-doer, O Jatavedas, to the difficult-to-conquer mortal.
अग्ने माकिष्टे देवस्य रातिमदेवो युयोत । त्वमीशिषे वसूनाम्
Agni, let not the favor of the god be lacking for you; you alone are the lord of riches.
स नो वस्व उप मास्यूर्जो नपान्माहिनस्य । सखे वसो जरितृभ्यः
May he, the offspring of strength, bring us wealth here, not delay it; O friend, O giver, for the singers.
अच्छा नः शीरशोचिषं गिरो यन्तु दर्शतम् । अच्छा यज्ञासो नमसा पुरूवसुं पुरुप्रशस्तमूतये
Let our songs go to the radiant, shining one, the most beautiful; let the sacrifices, with reverence, go to the much-praised, much-glorified one for aid.
अग्निं सूनुं सहसो जातवेदसं दानाय वार्याणाम् । द्विता यो भूदमृतो मर्त्येष्वा होता मन्द्रतमो विशि
Agni, son of strength, knower of all births, for the giving of treasures; who alone, immortal, has become the most delightful Hotar among mortals, twice over.
अग्निं वो देवयज्ययाग्निं प्रयत्यध्वरे । अग्निं धीषु प्रथममग्निमर्वत्यग्निं क्षैत्राय साधसे
Agni for you, worthy of worship by the gods, Agni at the sacrifice, Agni first in thoughts, Agni on the chariot, Agni for lordly power and success.
अग्निरिषां सख्ये ददातु न ईशे यो वार्याणाम् । अग्निं तोके तनये शश्वदीमहे वसुं सन्तं तनूपाम्
May Agni grant friendship to the seekers of riches; he is not subject to others for treasures. We ever seek Agni in home and offspring, the good protector of our bodies.
अग्निमीळिष्वावसे गाथाभिः शीरशोचिषम् । अग्निं राये पुरुमीळ्ह श्रुतं नरोऽग्निं सुदीतये छर्दिः
Let us praise Agni for help with songs, the radiant, shining one; men, praise Agni, much-invoked, famed, for wealth, for good protection.
अग्निं द्वेषो योतवै नो गृणीमस्यग्निं शं योश्च दातवे । विश्वासु विक्ष्ववितेव हव्यो भुवद्वस्तुरृषूणाम्
We praise Agni to ward off hatred, Agni who gives happiness and welfare; in all tribes, may he, invoked, be the dwelling of the seers.
हविष्कृणुध्वमा गमदध्वर्युर्वनते पुनः । विद्वाँ अस्य प्रशासनम्
Prepare the offering so that the priest may come again to the worshipper; knowing his command.
नि तिग्ममभ्यंशुं सीदद्धोता मनावधि । जुषाणो अस्य सख्यम्
Let the sharp, radiant one settle as the Hotar, attentive in mind, accepting his friendship.
अन्तरिच्छन्ति तं जने रुद्रं परो मनीषया । गृभ्णन्ति जिह्वया ससम्
People seek him among men, Rudra, with profound thought; they grasp him with the tongue, together.
जाम्यतीतपे धनुर्वयोधा अरुहद्वनम् । दृषदं जिह्वयावधीत्
The offspring, heated, took up the bow for battle, entered the forest, struck the stone with his tongue.
चरन्वत्सो रुशन्निह निदातारं न विन्दते । वेति स्तोतव अम्ब्यम्
The calf, wandering here, shining, does not find the hidden one; he knows the mother to be praised.
उतो न्वस्य यन्महदश्वावद्योजनं बृहद् । दामा रथस्य ददृशे
And indeed, his great, horse-borne yoking, vast, the reins of the chariot were seen.
दुहन्ति सप्तैकामुप द्वा पञ्च सृजतः । तीर्थे सिन्धोरधि स्वरे
Seven milk one, two approach, five move forth; at the crossing of the river, upon the sound.
आ दशभिर्विवस्वत इन्द्रः कोशमचुच्यवीत् । खेदया त्रिवृता दिवः
With ten, Indra shook the vessel of Vivasvat; he distressed the triple height of heaven.
परि त्रिधातुरध्वरं जूर्णिरेति नवीयसी । मध्वा होतारो अञ्जते
Around the triple-layered sacrifice, the new ones rush; the Hotars anoint themselves with honey.
