Following the ancient dwelling, these dear-minded ones, with sacred grass and fitting offerings, have sought the former path of worship.
He who is king of peoples, rider in chariots, unwearied, breaker of all hosts in battle, the greatest, the slayer of Vritra—I praise him.
Glorify that Indra, much-invoked for help, whose strength is unmatched; the thunderbolt was placed in his visible hand, like the sun in the great sky.
No one by action can harm him, who is ever-growing; like Indra, famed everywhere, unassailable, powerful, and strong.
Unconquerable, mighty in battles, in whom great powers are gathered; when he is born, the cows flow forth, the heavens and earth are not diminished.
If, O Indra, you had a hundred heavens and a hundred earths, still, O wielder of the bolt, a thousand suns would not equal you, nor both worlds together.
You have expanded with your might, O vigorous one, most powerful by your strength; for him, O generous one, bring down the prize rich in cattle, O thunderer, with splendid aids.
No god or mortal in distress, even one of long life, can attain him; even swift ones, even those who strive, Indra has yoked his steeds.
To you, the great and mighty Indra, for giving, we call; who is invoked in deep waters, in the wilderness, and in contests, he is worthy of invocation.
Rise up for us, O generous one, for great aid, consider us, O hero, for favor; rise up for greatness, O giver, for giving, rise up, O Indra, for great fame.
You, O Indra, are our upholder of order, you do not fail us; dwell in the midst of the mighty, and with your blows, strike down the Dasa.
The one of different vows, inhuman, not sacrificing, godless—let your friend, the mountain, shake him down; let the mountain destroy the hostile one.
You, O Indra, most powerful, hold the fire in your hand; as gatherers of wealth, let us seize the riches, let us seize the riches twice.
Friends, seek wisdom—how shall we win the favor of the generous one? Let us approach with praise the giver, the wise, the unyielding.
With many, together with the seers, with those who have prepared the sacred grass, you are to be praised; when thus, one by one, you desired, O Sharavat, you gave away the calves.
Maghavan, holding the ear, Shuradevi brought a calf for us from the three; the wise one did not give the goat for the portion.
You, Agni, with your great powers, protect us from all hostility, and also from the hatred of mortals.
For anger does not control a man’s strength; you are indeed of noble birth; you alone are the lord of the nights.
May you, O radiant one, together with all the gods, O offspring of strength, grant us prosperity, wealth of every kind.
No hostilities, O Agni, nor mortals, harm the one whom you, giver, protect for wealth.
The one whom you, O inspired Agni, urge on with wisdom for wealth, he, with your help, will reach the cows.
You, Agni, grant wealth with many heroes to the worshipping mortal; lead us straight to riches.
Make wide space for us, do not give us over to the evil-doer, O Jatavedas, to the difficult-to-conquer mortal.
Agni, let not the favor of the god be lacking for you; you alone are the lord of riches.
May he, the offspring of strength, bring us wealth here, not delay it; O friend, O giver, for the singers.
Let our songs go to the radiant, shining one, the most beautiful; let the sacrifices, with reverence, go to the much-praised, much-glorified one for aid.
Agni, son of strength, knower of all births, for the giving of treasures; who alone, immortal, has become the most delightful Hotar among mortals, twice over.
Agni for you, worthy of worship by the gods, Agni at the sacrifice, Agni first in thoughts, Agni on the chariot, Agni for lordly power and success.
May Agni grant friendship to the seekers of riches; he is not subject to others for treasures. We ever seek Agni in home and offspring, the good protector of our bodies.
Let us praise Agni for help with songs, the radiant, shining one; men, praise Agni, much-invoked, famed, for wealth, for good protection.
