Six horses, O Ātithigva, Indra gave to the one with wives, together with pure rites, as a lasting possession.
Among these, in the virile ones, in the midst of the straight, the ruddy one, with her own whip, is like a lash.
No mortal, wishing to contend, can overcome you, companions of prize; let no blame rest upon you.
Send forth the hymn in Triṣṭubh meter for Indra, who delights in strength; with thought, Puramdhi calls you for the gaining of wisdom.
You are the stream of the waters, the stream of young women, the lord of the unyoked cows, of the cows, you seek the offering.
They, the spotted ones, who yield milk for him, prepare Soma, the mothers of the gods, in the three shining realms of heaven.
Sing to the lord of cows, to Indra, as is fitting; to the son of truth, the true lord.
The bays have been set in motion, the ruddy ones on the sacred grass, where we come together.
The cows have milked forth sweet drink for Indra, the wielder of the bolt, when he found it in the hidden place.
Rise up to the dwelling of the shining one, O Indra, and go; having drunk the honey, be united in friendship at the three times seven steps of the companion.
Sing, sing forth, O Priyamedhasas, sing; let the sons also sing, sing mightily like a fortress.
Let Gargara sound forth his voice, let Godhā resound all around; let Piṅgā also resound, raise up the hymn for Indra.
When the other, easy to milk, flies forth, unshaken, seize the unshaken one, the Soma, for Indra to drink.
Indra drank, Agni drank, all the gods rejoiced; Varuṇa, may he dwell here, the waters have followed, like cows to their calf.
You are a good god, Varuṇa, for whom the seven rivers flow after your summit, like a well-perforated channel.
He who, well-yoked, led forth the swift ones for the worshipper, the skilled guide, that indeed is his form, like one who is released.
O Shakra, Indra, you have surpassed all enemies; you have shattered the cooking vessel, the food being prepared, with your voice from afar.
Like a young boy, a child, standing upon a new chariot, he apportioned the buffalo, the beast, to his father and mother, sharing out the offering.
Come now, O fair-cheeked lord and lady, mount the golden chariot; then, join the shining, thousand-footed, ruddy steed, bringing well-being, free from harm.
To him, indeed, the reverent approach, to the sovereign of songs; even for a small share of his favor, they return again and again for his bounty.
Following the ancient dwelling, these dear-minded ones, with sacred grass and fitting offerings, have sought the former path of worship.
He who is king of peoples, rider in chariots, unwearied, breaker of all hosts in battle, the greatest, the slayer of Vritra—I praise him.
Glorify that Indra, much-invoked for help, whose strength is unmatched; the thunderbolt was placed in his visible hand, like the sun in the great sky.
No one by action can harm him, who is ever-growing; like Indra, famed everywhere, unassailable, powerful, and strong.
Unconquerable, mighty in battles, in whom great powers are gathered; when he is born, the cows flow forth, the heavens and earth are not diminished.
If, O Indra, you had a hundred heavens and a hundred earths, still, O wielder of the bolt, a thousand suns would not equal you, nor both worlds together.
You have expanded with your might, O vigorous one, most powerful by your strength; for him, O generous one, bring down the prize rich in cattle, O thunderer, with splendid aids.
No god or mortal in distress, even one of long life, can attain him; even swift ones, even those who strive, Indra has yoked his steeds.
To you, the great and mighty Indra, for giving, we call; who is invoked in deep waters, in the wilderness, and in contests, he is worthy of invocation.
Rise up for us, O generous one, for great aid, consider us, O hero, for favor; rise up for greatness, O giver, for giving, rise up, O Indra, for great fame.
