Guard us, Agni, with one, guard us also with a second; guard us with three praises, lord of strength, guard us with four, O treasure-giver.

You lie in the woods, O child of your mother, and mortals kindle you. Tireless, you carry the offerings made; you reign among the gods from the very beginning.

O Agni, singer, lord of all, protector, god, guard us from harm. Unfailing, you are the householder, mighty, guardian of heaven, dwelling in the home.
Do not let harm come near us, O compassionate one; do not let the enemy approach. Drive away hunger and evil, O Agni; keep away those who wish us ill.
Let Indra hear both our words, coming near. May the mighty, generous one come for the drinking of Soma, drawn by our prayer and strength.

Grant, O lord of power, Indra, with all your aids. For we follow you, O hero, as the bringer of fortune, the knower of wealth and glory.
You are the giver of horses, the creator of cattle, the golden spring, O god. No gift is ever wasted; whatever I seek, bring that to me.

You, O Indra, give many thousands and hundreds of herds for gifts. We have made you, O Purandara, the subject of our songs, O Indra, for our aid.
O Indra, if the inspired sage, whether he speaks with full insight or not, utters words to you, O hundred-powered one, may he bring forth praise for you; let him, who is mindful of the east, not harm us.
O Indra, wielder of strong arms, destroyer of fortresses, if you hear my call, we invoke you, lord of riches, hundred-powered, with hymns, together with those who desire wealth.
We do not seek the wicked, nor the weary, nor the sluggish; if, indeed, we make Indra, the mighty, our companion in the pressed Soma, let us be friends.
We have yoked the fierce one in battles, the mighty, the destroyer of foes, with exhilarating draughts; he knows even the trembling one, the best charioteer, the winner of booty, whom none can surpass.

Indra, slayer of Vṛtra, unassailable, you are to be chosen by us; may he protect us at the end, in the middle, and from behind—may he guard us in front.
Guard us, Indra, from behind, from below, from above, and from the front, on every side; keep far from us divine danger, keep far the weapons of the godless.
Today, tomorrow, and every day, O Indra, protect us, and in the days to come; O lord of the good, guard all our singers by day and by night.
